I am the second owner of this truck. It was purchased new by a trucking company, who utilized it as a shuttle truck. The truck is a very good, dependable truck. I bought the truck for use in my contracting business but have used it as a personal truck for 3 years now. I have taken it on numerous long trips. It doesnt get the greatest mileage but it runs, drives, rides great and will haul anything I find to bring home. The engine is a 6.0 liter gas. The actual mileage on the highway is 15-16 around town is 13-14. That is honest mileage. It is a high mileage truck with 176,610 on the odometer, however, It does not use any oil. I have had the truck serviced regularly with oil changes every 3500 miles and tranny fluid changed 3 times. It is a vey good truck and would make an excellent work truck or family hauler.

The only problems the truck has:

The speedometer( I have used GPS speedo) does not work properly I

It has a crack in the lower windshield. (will pass inspection)

Chevy Express 1500, GMC Savana 1500 get the axe

Tue, 15 Jul 2014 17:33:00 EST

Fans of truck-based, light-duty vans can officially pour one out for the Chevrolet Express 1500 and GMC Savana 1500, as General Motors has officially put its long-serving big/little rigs out to pasture. Things aren't quite as sad as they sound, though. The heavier-duty 2500 and 3500 vans will soldier on, in order to duke it out with the largest members of Ram ProMaster, Ford Transit and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter families.
The move does seem to make a lot of sense. According to GM, customers only purchase the 1500-spec Chevrolet 23 percent of the time, while the GMC captures a mere 7 percent of the Savana family's sales. With numbers like that, it's no shock that GM thinks it can shift some of its buyers into its van family's more capable variants. "We knew we could move a lot of our 1500 customers into 2500-series territory," said GM's Joe Langhauser, the product manager for the company's full-size vans.
It's not just simple sales figures dictating the move, though. The 1500 line is taking up some valuable factory space that will be better spent on an eagerly anticipated new product.

GM recalling Silverado and Sierra HD diesel pickups over fuel gauge follies

Fri, 03 Jan 2014 13:29:00 EST

General Motors is recalling 9,733 of its heavy-duty twins over concerns with their 6.6-liter diesel engines and dual fuel tanks. The recall covers some Chevrolet Silverado HD and GMC Sierra HD pickups from model years 2012 and 2013, although the exact dates that the recalled trucks were built isn't specified. There's also no mention of how many models come from Chevrolet and how many are from GMC.
The problem rests with the transfer pump responsible for moving fuel from the rear tank to the front tank - it could fail, resulting in an inaccurate fuel gauge. It hardly requires explaining, but a faulty fuel gauge could leave drivers in a situation where they run out of diesel.
GM will begin notifying customers of affected vehicles, who will be asked to report to their dealers for a free replacement transfer pump.

Chevy Silverado edges Ram 1500 in Consumer Reports two-truck shootout

Tue, 17 Sep 2013 16:31:00 EST

Forget Corvette versus Viper. When it comes to important head-to-head comparisons, fullsize trucks are where domestic automakers really care. And until the redesigned Ford F-150 makes its debut, the Chevrolet Silverado is going to have plenty to brag about thanks to a new Consumer Reports shootout against the Ram 1500.
It was a tight race among these V8-powered titans, but the all-new 2014 Silverado (and its GMC Sierra twin) barely edged out Ram's updated pickup with a score of 81 points - enough to make it the institute's top-rated fullsize truck on the market. Its narrow victory over the Ram, which finished just three points back, was due to its superior fuel economy, better towing and payload capacity and conveniences like a lower step-in height, easy-to-use tailgate and rear bumper steps that make loading and unloading less of a chore.
Importantly, CR notes that buyers with less heavy-duty truck needs might actually prefer the Ram over the Chevrolet, since its high points include a smoother ride thanks to its coil spring rear suspension, dominant infotainment system with Uconnect, and a big thumbs up for the available Hemi engine and eight-speed automatic transmission.
