1996 GMC Safari SLE

I am the second owner and have had this Safari Van for over 5 years. It has been a great vehicle for me. It is in good running condition, is reliable.  All the warning lights on the dash are clear. I recently put on all new brakes and an emergency brake cable, plus 2 new matching Kumho Solus tires on the rear. The front tires are good. The engine runs great and the tranny shifts smooth. I am a car guy and personally changed the motor oil often and have had the tranny serviced twice. I do this to insure smooth and long lasting operation on all my vehicles. It has a fairly new Sears Diehard Gold 100 battery. The 120,000 miles are low for the vehicle.

The SLE model is a top model and has adjustable lumbar support on the driver and passenger seats which are power. Cruise control, intermittent wipers. Rear A/C and Heat. Premium sound. It has 1 Captain’s Chair in the 2nd row and the 3rd row seat folds down for extra loading. All the rear seats are easily removable if you need gigantic cargo space. It has a roof console with reading lights, storage, thermometer and compass. It has tinted rear and side windows, which open. The roof rack and tow hitch are included, to make it extra handy.

The body looks pretty good. It does have 1 place on the passenger door where it was hit and is pressed in. This doesn’t affect the function of the door in any way. There are a couple of small dents and some scratches but no rust holes. The floor is solid. I have touched up the chips from time to time with the correct color paint. The interior is pretty good also with some slight wear. There are no cracks in the driver seat. The door panels are nice.

Functionally, the automatic door locks don’t work. I use the buttons to lock and the key to unlock the doors. It could be a simple fix, I don’t know. They have worked recently. Also the A/C does not work, I never checked why. The spare tire is not good.

Overall a great vehicle for hauling people or stuff. It has no issues. Buy and drive. I think you could fly here and drive it home to anywhere. I’ll pick you up at the airport.
I am making NO guarantees, it is being sold as is.

It is being auctioned with a low reserve. The buyer pays shipping. I can assist with the pickup on my end.
This vehicle is being advertised locally and could be sold at any time.

You are welcome to view, inspect and drive the Safari Van located in central CT. Contact me.

A $500.00 deposit is required within 24 hours of listing close if you win.

Expect greater differentiation in GM's next-generation SUVs

Thu, 03 Jan 2013

General Motors says its next-generation Chevrolet Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade models will offer shoppers improved interior differentiation. Car and Driver recently caught up with Chris Hilts, GM's creative manager of interior design, who said that the cabins will all feature unique instrument panels, consoles, center stacks and switchgear moving forward. Apparently GM is now aware that consumers may be bothered by the fact that today's $85,000 Escalade has effectively the same cabin as a $45,000 Tahoe. Hilts says SUV buyers want more refinement than their pickup purchasing counterparts - and those same buyers also want their SUVs to have more exterior differentiation between the company's Silverado and Sierra pickup lines. Shocking.
That all sounds good to us, but we've heard this song and dance before. GM made big waves about how different the new-for-2013 Silverado and Sierra would look from each other, but judging by what we've seen so far, GM's stylists are painting in shades rather than with the full spectrum. 2015 GMC Canyon is a Chevy Colorado in Sierra clothing [w/video]

Sun, 12 Jan 2014

Ford may not offer the Ranger in America anymore, nor Dodge (or Ram) its Dakota. But General Motors - not unlike Toyota with its Tacoma and Nissan with the Frontier - isn't about to give up on the midsize pickup market. Less than two months ago, it revealed the new Chevrolet Colorado, and now it's following up with its mechanical twin, the 2015 GMC Canyon.
Launched today ahead of its reveal at the Detroit Auto Show, the Canyon slots into the GMC lineup (and differentiates itself from its Chevrolet twin) with styling that closely apes the larger GMC Sierra 1500 and Sierra HD, only a size or two smaller. Oh, there are visual differences, like a subtly different grille treatment and lower fascia, but it still maintains its big brother's square-jawed good looks and rectilinear flared fenders.
Two aluminum-block engines with direct injection and variable valve timing are available: a 2.5-liter inline-four comes standard with 193 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, and a 3.6-liter V6 is available with 302 hp and 270 lb-ft. Buyers will also be able to choose between three bodystyle configurations, three trim levels and either two- or four-wheel drive. A six-speed automatic transmits the power to the road, but a six-speed manual is available on the base model with the 2.5 and 2WD, and there's an All Terrain package available on SLE models. A diesel is expected later.

2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra debut all-new designs, three new engines

Thu, 13 Dec 2012

General Motors has finally dropped the curtain on the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and 2014 GMC Sierra. Both trucks have undergone substantial revisions with updated versions of the company's 4.3-liter V6, 5.3-liter V8 and 6.2-liter V8 engines. In a shot across the bows of both Ford and Chrysler, GM says it won't use a V6 engine adapted from passenger car applications. Instead, it developed the 4.3-liter engine based on its proven truck-duty architecture.
All three mills will boast direct injection fuel systems as well as a new cylinder head design. Combined with a revised piston, the new engines feature a smaller combustion chamber with a compression ratio of 11:1 or higher depending on the application. Cylinder deactivation and continuously variable valve timing are all part of the recipe, and each engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission with auto grade breaking. So far, no fuel economy or horsepower figures have been released, though GM says the new engines will best their predecessors in both areas.
Outside, the trucks feature a number of enhancements to reduce drag and wind noise, and GM claims both the Silverado and Sierra will offer buyers some of the quietest cabins in the class. Extended cab models now feature front-hinged rear doors to allow easier access to the back passenger area, and Crew Cab buyers can now select between a five-foot, eight-inch bed or a six-foot, six-inch bed. Buyers with a mind toward going off road will also rejoice in the return of the Z71 package, complete with Rancho shocks, front tow hooks and additional under-body protection.
