Mount Laurel, New Jersey, United States

1971 Ford Torino GT for sale. This car is equipped with 351 Cleveland, TCI C4 transmission, and the original 9 inch rear with 2.75 gears. The Cleveland is a 2V, but now it has a weiand 4V intake and a 750 CFM AFB Carter competition carb.  The engine also has Duraspark ignition with a Mallory profire coil.  The exhaust exits threw full length headers into 2 1/2" exhaust, with Flowmaster mufflers.  The engine has a larger cam, with a healthy idle, and much more power than it came with from the factory. Should be somewhere in the low 400's. With a steeper set of gears, this car would really fly, but right now, it's not so bad on fuel. The transmission is a C4 built by TCI. It also has a Streetfighter  3000 RPM stall converter.

The car has front disc brakes with slotted rotors, power steering with a brand new Borgeson steering box and a brand new Saginaw power steering pump, brand new front shocks and springs, and new Roller spring perches.  The car drives more like a modern car with the new steering box and roller spring perches. The 9" rear has factory drum brakes and Lakewood traction bars. There is a driveshaft loop installed under the car too.

The body of the car is very nice. The rear quarter panels were changed at some point, and the car was painted at the same time.  It has the factory style laser stripes, which are reflective like the originals, installed on the car.  The wheels are American Racing and the tires are Firestone Firehawks. Both front and rear bumpers were replaced with re-chromed ones that look really good. The front grill is in very good shape and even the chrome on top of the doors is nice for it's age.

The interior is black with the original headliner and rear seat.  The front seats and console appear to be from a 72-73 Torino. A full set of gauges are installed in the dash, and there is a tach on the steering column, right behind the Grant steering wheel.

Things that need attention. There is a slight leak at the transmission pan, so it looks like it could use a new gasket.  The radio doesn't work, but you would probably want to change it, unless you have a great collection of cassettes!  Small rust hole in the rear valance panel. The floor pans have a couple rust holes and so does the battery tray area, (as a lot of these cars do).  The car does come with new sheet metal for this area. Floor pan sections are available on Ebay and in many catalogs too.  Torque boxes are fine. The wiper motor is new, but not working, so could be an issue with a fuse? Maybe the same fuse for the radio?

This isn't my car.  I'm selling it for a friend.  If you have any questions, please feel free to send them along.  If you want PICTURES of any other area of the car, let me know, and try to include your email address, so I can send them to you. The car comes with a NY state transferable registration and a Bill of Sale.

Ford, Renault, VW shareholder oppose French aid for PSA/Peugeot-Citro"en

Mon, 29 Oct 2012

Pots and kettles, glass houses and stones - that's a little of what we appear to have going on in the European car market. New reports say that that three European automakers have registered their opposition to a loan deal that PSA/Peugeot-Citroën is working on with the French government. Peugeot's finance arm, Banque PSA Finance, is struggling with its debts and has been downgraded by Moody's to its lowest investment-grade classification, one step above junk. This makes it more expensive for a potential buyer to finance a car through Peugeot. The last thing Peugeot needs is more difficulty selling cars in the tough European market, and the situation will only worsen if the bank's credit worthiness takes another hit.
A deal being worked on would have the French government offer €7 billion ($9B U.S.) in bonds to guarantee the bank's loans, which would give the institution some breathing room to manage its debts and lower its interest rates. Outside of that, a group of banks would provide other, non-guaranteed loans to the bank to further help its position. In exchange for state help, though, the government wants seats on Peugeot's board for worker representatives and a government liaison, along with factory and worker guarantees. The Peugeot family would maintain control of the company.
So what we have is government assistance being provided to a car company's finance arm, akin to the way General Motors' GMAC (now Ally Financial) and Chrysler Financial got help in their time of need. What we also have is Ford and Renault, and Germany's State of Lower Saxony, the second-largest shareholder in Volkswagen, voicing their concern about the proposal, because they say it could create an unfair competitive advantage for Peugeot. Everyone in Europe's down market is fighting for every sale, and if Peugeot gets help to keep its auto loan costs down, it figures to help buyers choose Peugeot or Citroën.

Ford to announce Mulally retirement, Fields CEO as early as May 1

Mon, 21 Apr 2014

Ford CEO Alan Mulally may be about to announce his long-rumored retirement from the Blue Oval, according to a pair of insiders who spoke to Bloomberg. An official statement on the succession could arrive as soon as May 1. Chief Operating Officer Mark Fields is rumored to step up as the new CEO. The company is said to be readying the announcement soon to ensure an orderly transition of power, according to the insiders.
Mulally's retirement from Ford has been a hot topic for a while. He was seriously rumored last year to be leaving the automaker to take over as the CEO of Microsoft. The board even said at one point that it was okay with them if he stepped down early. However, the CEO maintained he would stay with the business through at least the end of 2014. Fields has been rumored as a frontrunner to take over the top spot at the company since he was promoted to COO.
For the moment, Ford isn't officially confirming any of these plans. "We don't comment on speculation. We do have succession plans in place for our key leadership. We take succession planning very seriously," said Susan Krusel, Ford Global News Manager, to Autoblog.

2015 Ford Mustang spied on video for the first time

Thu, 20 Jun 2013

Not many cars will continue to hold our rapt attention quite like the upcoming redesigned 2015 Ford Mustang, codenamed S550 internally. Earlier this month, we brought you the first spy photos of a next-gen Mustang prototype out testing, and even though expertly placed cladding concealed the pony car's new shape, we could tell that underneath was hiding an altogether new form inspired by the Evos Concept from 2011.
Today we give you some video of what looks to be the same Mustang prototype, which you can watch below, and while the budding director behind the camera wasn't able to capture much in the way of the engine's audio signature, we can see the car in motion for the first time and compare its relative size and shape to the S197 Mustang GT that's on its tail.
