Offered here is a 1966 Thunderbird Tudor Coupe.  This body style has the rear quarter windows in it, which I like better than the Landau body style, which does not have them and hence the rear area looks fat.  They only made about 14,000 of these; the Landau was a lot more popular. I got this car as a project, but life has gotten in the way and it’s time to thin the herd.

First impressions can be deceiving, and so it is with this car.  Think of it as a full scale plastic car model in the box.  I got the car from a retired mechanic who actually was factory trained on Thunderbirds back in the day.  He took out the engine, took it apart to rebuild it, and found it to be in such great shape inside that he just painted it and put it back together.  He also painted the engine compartment while it was out. The engine is a 390 and runs very well.  It has a $400.00 Edelbrock 4 barrel carburetor.  The car lot drives, and has a little bit of brake. The emergency brake works. The transmission shifts as it should, but I have not taken it up to speed.  The odometer shows a little over 50,00 miles, but I'd assume that it has turned over at least once.

I replaced the non AC dash with an AC dash and all the stuff inside it, except for the rubber conduit right behind the plenums; there are about 6 screws to put that in.  All of the wiring is there as far as I can tell, and the car comes with a factory wiring manual so you know where it goes.  It also comes with a factory service manual so you know how to do the rest of the car.

The body is in good shape, as is the frame.  It’s pretty much rest free on the outside, and the floor pans are solid, which is one of the reasons I bought it.  The underside of the hood has some rust, but its not structural and the hood works just fine, thought right now it is not attached to the hinges.  There is rust around the inside trunk lip, which does not show when the trunk is closed, and does not affect the working of the trunk lid. The trunk bottom is solid, and it comes with a towing hitch! The rest of the car is pretty solid.  All of the glass is good.

All of the parts are there as far as I know, and more, as I got a parts car with it.  You get all of my 66 Tbird parts; I have a another pile that is not pictured. The interior is disassembled; it needs new carpet, and I did not want to put the interior back in it only for you to have to take it back out again to put in the carpet.  You can get a carpet set here on ebay for about $150.00. This car would make a great winter project car; put in the carpet, put in the interior, with a paint job in the spring to make it a really good cruiser.

Terms of Sale:  The car is located in Blairs VA, near Danville Va. Car is sold as is where is, with all faults.  $300.00 Paypal nonrefundable earnest money required within 48 hours of sale, to cover expenses of sale.  Buyer must arrange shipping.

2015 Ford F-150 claims segment's best payload, towing ratings

Mon, 29 Sep 2014

While we are set to drive the new, 2015 Ford F-150 in the coming days, there's a big piece of news on the latest-generation of the Blue Oval's bread-and-butter pickup coming out of Dearborn, and it focuses on the truck's hauling and towing abilities.
The new F-150 will have a maximum payload of 3,300-pounds (V8 models), and, perhaps more importantly, a 12,200-pound tow rating (EcoBoost V6 models), which for the first time are compliant with the Society of Automotive Engineer's J2807 standards. Those best-in-class figures are significant feathers in Ford's cap as the Detroit Three continue duking it out for the title of top pickup.
"As founding members of the SAE trailer towing committee, we will meet SAE trailer towing standards," Ford's Aaron Miller told Autoblog.

Enterprise working with renter's insurance to cover $47k Mustang stolen from its lot

Sat, 11 Jan 2014

There was more than a bit of public indigence following the recent story of Enterprise Rent-A-Car billing a customer $47,000 to replace a Ford Mustang GT Convertible stolen from a Nova Scotia lot. To recap: Kristen Cockerill rented the Mustang for two days, returned it to the lot on a Sunday and left the keys in a secure dropbox only for Enterprise employees to find the car gone the next day.
Despite Enterprise policies stating that customers are responsible for vehicles dropped on off-days, the company has admitted that the situation could've been handled a bit better.
In a recent statement, Enterprise has backed off the big-bill story, and claims to be working with Cockerill and her insurance company to resolve the issue. Further, the Enterprise general manager overseeing Nova Scotia has spoken with the harried renter, and apologized "for the way this claim was handled during the last few months."

Motorweek goes retro with '80s hot hatch shootout

Mon, 03 Nov 2014

Motorweek's decades of history on television make it the perfect medium to look back into the automotive past and see how things are different now. It recently added old road test videos to its YouTube channel of the Acura NSX and Toyota Supra, as well as the Ferrari F40. For one of its newest flashback clips, Motorweek has exhumed an affordable five-car challenge of 1986's premiere hot hatches.
By today's standards, this is an eclectic field that features fondly remembered classics like the Volkswagen GTI 16-valve and Acura Integra. However, it also throws in some nearly forgotten contenders like the Dodge Colt Turbo and Ford Escort GT. The angular Toyota Corolla FX16 GT-S rounds out the group.
It's fascinating to watch Motorweek run the quintet through the slalom, down the drag strip and on various roads. What's most striking in this clip is the difference in the definition of a performance car between then and now. With its 16-valve, 1.8-liter four-cylinder, the GTI is the burliest of the contenders with 123 horsepower, but it still takes 8.8 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour. By today's standards, that would make it a plain-jane economy car, and not even a particularly quick one.
