2002 FORD RANGER THUNDERBOLT
  #659 OF 800

THIS IS A 'NO RESERVE' AUCTION

In 2002 Ford teamed with SLP Engineering to build 800 custom high performance pick-up trucks on the Ranger chassis. This is a top-of-the line Level 3 Thunderbolt and has the 4.0-liter V-6 engine, cold air intake, hood scope, cat back dual exhaust, front and side aero package, custom roll pan and taillights, Muth side mirrors, rear tailgate spoiler and custom interior trim.

This truck has been my daily driver since 2004 and I have done little else than add gas, oil and tires. I have always used mid grade fuel and only synthetic oil and premium filters. It has  over 169,000 miles, does NOT use or leak oil and continues to perform day after day like clockwork. Being 12 years old, the truck does have some minor issues. It needs paint (bad fading on hood and rear spoiler -- see Pix) and some interior cosmetic attention. Driver's side rear door handle needs fixed, driver's power window mechanism needs work (motor is fine) and a cruise control button is missing.

In addition to the stock 15" wheels with special logo center caps, I have a set of 17" Motegi Racing black spoke wheels. Also have frame for Extang Black Max bed tonneau. Cover rotted and was thrown away. New cover is available for $30 and original snaps are still in place. Great restoration potential. Contact me for more details.

$500 non-refundable deposit due within 24 hours of auction close and buyer is responsible for pick-up or transport.  Truck is available for inspection and terst drive, just call and make an appointment,  Clear title in hand. I reserve the right to end auction early as truck is also being advertised locally.

George W. Bush's 2009 Ford F-150 fizzles with $300,000 bid at Barrett-Jackson [UPDATE: w/video]

Sun, 20 Jan 2013

Despite some truly impassioned pleading from Jay Leno himself - including calling on Arizona's notoriously Republican-rich voters to beat the $600,000 level set the last time Leno sold a vehicle for this particular charity... in California - bidding for George Bush's 2009 Ford F-150 pickup truck stalled at $300,000.
All proceeds will be sent to the Fisher House Foundation, so at least it's $300K going to a good cause. Feel free to check out the live image gallery above, which includes shots showing Leno's skills helming the auction, and read through the official auction description below.
*UPDATE: Video of the auction and Leno's prods to the crowd for more money can now be seen below.

Ford unveils Mustang 50th anniversary logo, plans merchandise

Tue, 26 Mar 2013

The Ford Mustang turns 50 years old this year, and this is the logo that will announce the milestone occasion on a special line of merchandise. The graphic is the result of an internal design competition, and Ford will give 50 different companies the license to use it on traditional logo merchandise like shirts and watches, along with some untraditional items like pinball machines.
Ford is going to begin the celebrations at this week's New York Auto Show and continue them throughout the year, but April 17 is the official birthday of the the pony car that just won't quit. You can expect to start seeing anniversary merchandise in the next couple of weeks.

Ford paying $750 million just to close plant in Belgium

Thu, 21 Mar 2013

According to a report from Reuters, Ford is shelling out $750 million in a severance deal that will see the automaker close its facility in Genk, Belgium. The automaker reached this deal with the 4,000 hourly workers employed at the plant last week, which means the company will pay out an average of $187,500 per worker.
Ford is still negotiating with the 300 salaried workers at the factory, which currently produces the Mondeo sedan. All told, Ford expects to lose around $2 billion in Europe thanks in no small part to the region's ongoing economic downturn, and two more plants are scheduled to be shut down in Europe this year. The company will log its $750 million payout under "special items" for this quarter.
As you may recall, Ford took a similar path in the US back in 2009 when the domestic market took a spill. Back then, the company shelled out around $50,000 per employee with at least one year of experience, plus either $25,000 toward a new car or an extra cash payment of $20,000. It would seem the cost of closing plants in Belgium is a much harder pill to swallow than in the States...
