1949 Ford F-1 Pickup Flathead V8, 4-speed I bought this truck from the original owners son where it was used on the family farm in Unadilla Georgia where it was less than 10 miles from the dealership where it was purchased new from Brannen Ford. It has 83,530 original miles on it. They kept the truck inside a shed, and it only has two small rust spots, one is in the front part of the cab under the right front fender, and one small place on the bottom of the right front fender where it meets the running board, see photo's. Floor boards, cab corners, and doors are solid. I took the gas tank out of it, and was going to just get a new one for it. I have the truck running on a temporary can under the hood now, and it runs great with no noise are smoke at all. The left water pump is leaking so I don't have any water in it now. The brakes are down from setting. Both of the door glass, and one vent window need to be replaced. I was going to get a regular bed for it, and put it back to a pickup. I have a nice set of 48 to early 50 rear fenders that I would sell to the new owner if they are interested in them. Over all a nice solid truck to restore. Jay Leno takes a Surfin' Safari in a 1937 Ford Woodie Restomod
Tue, 21 Oct 2014Woodie wagons were a major part of surfing culture in the 1960s, offering coastal style and a ton of room, and they even earned a mention in the Beach Boys' classic song Surfin' Safari. This week, Jay Leno's Garage takes a look at two modern, restomodded examples of these style icons.
Unlike a lot of restomods, builder Scott Bonowski keeps these wagons looking almost completely stock on the outside, and all of the upgrades are hidden underneath the timber. You can't tell by looking at it, but the '37 Woodie (pictured above) has independent front and rear suspension, disc brakes and a Ford 5.0-liter V8 under the hood.
Beyond the mechanical aspect, the craftsmanship into the wood is astounding. Bonowski claims there are between 30 and 50 coats of varnish on this wagon. It makes these woodies as much of a piece of fine furniture as a vehicle to drive.

Mulally to stay at Ford through end of 2014 at least
Fri, 06 Dec 2013Alan Mulally isn't going anywhere... at least not just yet. The CEO who helped turn around Ford Motor Company has been linked to the top job at tech behemoth Microsoft, leading to a flurry of rumors about potential successors. Those rumors, though, may have just been put to rest - at least for a little while.
Speaking to Edsel Ford II (great-grandson of company founder Henry Ford) at the unveiling of the new Mustang, Automotive News Europe confirmed that Mulally would stick around until the end of next year. "Alan is staying through the end of 2014 and that's all I know," said Ford. "Frankly, he has told us that his plan is to stay with Ford through the end of 2014."
Presuming that Edsel Ford is correct and that Microsoft isn't so hot on Mulally that it saves the position for him, it seems increasingly likely that the 68-year-old exec is more interested in continuing to work in Dearborn rather than in Redmond.
