'63 Ford 300 w/ 406ci engine, Tri-Power and 4 speed

Selling my 63 Ford 300 w/ 406 Tri-Power.  Entire drivetrain was pulled from a too far gone 63 Galaxie XL G Code car and transplanted into this one (this car was originally a 289ci, AT car).  Car is extremely solid and has all original panels, no rust. Underside of the car is just as clean as the top.  Older lacquer paint job that looks and shows very well.  Crites fiberglass hood with fiberglass front bumper and bumper mounts. Re-chromed rear bumper.

Very rare 406ci engine pressure tested and rebuilt, 0.030 over, line bored, decked, original crank and rods balanced. Original C3AE-C heads with multi angle valve job and hardened exhaust seats installed, Harland Sharp roller rockers, Lunati solid lift cam (290 intake/300 exhaust advertised duration & 0.525" In&Ex max lift), Ross forged pistons.  Original 3 x 2 intake manifold and Holley Tri Power carbs.  Carbs were recently rebuilt and refinished by Ford Tri-Power guru Joe Bunetic. Original Ford radiator recored.  Hooker thermal coated headers with 2.5" exhaust and Flowmaster mufflers.  T-10 transmission with new dual friction Centerforce clutch and Hurst shifter.  9" rearend with 3.89 gears and limited slip.

Interior seat covers, headliner, carpet, door panels all brand new.  Interior sheet metal also repainted recently.  Traction Master bars on the rear end with re-arched springs.  BFG drag radials on the rear with skinnies up front for a 60's super stock look.  Car has Master Power front disc brakes with dual master cylinder and all new brake lines, manual steering.  Car is very street friendly and reliable.  Have a stack of receipts that go with the car and more information can be provided upon request.  Don't hesitate to email me with your contact info if you would like more details.

Feds open investigation into Chevy Express, Ford Freestar rust issues

Wed, 28 Dec 2011

'Tis the season... for road salt. And with that, comes rust. And what does rust bring? Well, for Ford and General Motors, a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation. According to The Detroit News, NHTSA is looking into potential recalls issues with Chevrolet Express vans and Ford Freestar minivans.
The feds have received five complaints that rust has caused leaking fuel filler pipes on 2003 Express vans. Separately, seven complaints have been filed over excessive rust in the rear wheel wells of 2004 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans. The Freestar and Monterey went out of production in 2007. Neither issue has resulted in any crashes or injuries, according to the report.

Ford Q1 profits dragged down by warranty costs

Fri, 25 Apr 2014

General Motors isn't the only Detroit automaker posting falling profits in the first quarter. Ford just released its Q1 2014 financial data, and it reported a net income of $989 million, down $622 million from Q1 2013. The drop is partially blamed on higher warranty and recall expenses than the company had anticipated.
Financially, Ford suffered a rough quarter almost across the board. Its pre-tax profit of $1.4 billion was also down $765 million from a year ago. Things were even worse in the North American market where operating profit fell significantly to $1.5 billion, down from $2.392 billion in Q1 2013. However, its global revenue ticked up slightly to $35.9 billion, from $35.6 billion in this period in 2013.
Ford admitted that it spent about $900 million on expenses that it hadn't planned for during this quarter. According to Reuters, the company paid about $400 million in additional warranty and recall costs in North America. The automaker didn't explain why the costs were so much higher than expected. However, in the last three months, Ford has had several recalls, including on the 2001-2004 Escape for rust, Explorer for its steering, Edge for its fuel line and others.

Ford to rebrand SVT as 999?

Mon, 22 Sep 2014

Ford operates a number of performance divisions around the world. There's SVT in the US, Team RS in Europe and Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) in Australia. But the Blue Oval has been steadily integrating its performance operations into one unit, and here we might have our first indication of what it will be called.
A reader at Jalopnik sent in a survey in which respondents were asked to gauge the name for a new performance brand from a "major automotive manufacturer," and while the identity of that automaker was not disclosed, according to the survey, the automaker is considering the name 999 for its new go-fast unit.
As our compatriots point out, the 999 was Ford's first racecar, a rudimentary chassis with a 19-liter inline-four campaigned by Henry Ford around the turn of the 20th century. (Ford also used the number to designate a Fusion fuel-cell racer a few years back.) That could prove the tie-in Dearborn is looking for in rebranding its performance operations worldwide, replacing the letters SVT, RS and FPV globally under one name.
