You are bidding on a fantastic 1963 Ford Falcon Futura Convertible.  This car has been in our family since 1986 and has been adult-driven that entire time.   It is a very nice-driving vehicle that you will enjoy taking to the local car-cruise or a nice summer drive.  The head on the in-line 6 had recently has been rebuilt.  Seats are bucket and correct for the period.  The top works fine and it has the unusual feature of an AM-FM Cassette player that is more modern than the car but made to look correct for the period.

You could easily get into this car and take a cross-country convertible trip with confidence!

The Falcon is the car on which the Ford Mustang was based.  This means that with so many of both still on the road you should be able to find mechanical parts for years to come.  It has been stored indoors since we obtained it in 1986.  Paint is just a few years old and in great shape.  You could keep this car as-is and enjoy it for years, or if you wanted you could drop a 260 V-8 in and have a "Sprint" for a fraction of the price.

In "Ocean's 11" this was Rusty's (Brad Pitt) favorite car, the one he still drove despite all the other, more fancy ones he owned!  Purchase it and find out that he was not lying!

The car is located in Pittsburgh, PA and is local pick-up only.  If you choose to buy from a distance you must arrange shipping.  Vehicle will not be released until any payment clears all bank transfers.  Feel free to ask any questions you like here via eBay but please do not ask me what my reserve is nor to lower the BIN price.  I will not do or give eitherI believe my price to be both fair and firm.  Thank you for considering purchase of this fine automobile.

William Clay Ford Sr. dead at 88

Sun, 09 Mar 2014

William Clay Ford, retired vice chairman of Ford Motor Company and the last surviving grandchild of company founder Henry Ford, died this morning after a bout with pneumonia. He was 88.
Ford spent 57 years with his grandfather's company, joining the board of directors in 1948 before graduating from college. Ford also held a position as chairman of the design committee, as well as the chairman of the executive committee and vice chairman of the Board of Directors during his tenure with the company. In a 2013 Detroit Free Press story, retired CFO Allan Gilmour said Ford had an eye for design, and was once able to pick out when a fiberglass model of a Ford Contour was asymmetrical, off by an inch on one side. He retired and assumed the position of director emeritus in 2005.
"My father was a great business leader and humanitarian who dedicated his life to the company and the community," said Bill Ford, Jr., Ford's current executive chairman. "He also was a wonderful family man, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him, yet he will continue to inspire us all."

Would a Mustang-based Lincoln look like this?

Mon, 07 Jan 2013

Designer Josiah LaCalla has taken a stab at what a Ford Mustang-based Lincoln model might look like with the Continental Mark X1 concept. Make no mistake, Ford's luxury arm has made it abundantly clear that it won't be pursuing any new products outside of volume models, which means a flashy halo grand tourer like the one you see here isn't in the cards. LaColla used the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG as a basis for his creation, which explains the long nose, but we certainly don't mind the idea of a rear-wheel drive Lincoln with a cabin pushed to the aft.
While we're dreaming, there's certainly nothing stopping us from imagining what's under that lengthy hood. We like the idea of the 5.8-liter supercharged V8 from the Shelby GT500 pushing the Mark X1 down the road, but how about something a little more inventive? Something like a high-revving, buttery V12 with enough torque to push the contraption well past 200 miles per hour. Dream a little dream, people.
