This is a Lovely 1961 Ford Falcon.
Body is solid with custom Paintwork. Motor and Trans are strong and it shifts as it should. Car tracks straight and is not bouncy. This is a great restoration project that you can drive while you clean up. Price is reflective of condition. underside is clean and not rotted out. Good: No Smoke or Stutter. Trans and Motor are sound Brakes are fine and stop this little guy quite well No Overheating. Body is not rusty or rotting. panels are straight. Great classic car platform with tons of aftermarket parts! Bad: Needs Interior Missing several Trim Pieces. Windshield wiper switch is not operating. but power to the wires creates movement. Ignition switch will stick if you do not pull it back during crank up. door gaskets are coming undone. Exceptionally rare '65 Ford GT40 Roadster prototype up for auction
Sat, 14 Jun 2014Think of mid-engined supercars and your mind is bound to gravitate towards Europe, but the United States has been known to make a handful from time to time - exceptional vehicles from the likes of Vector, SSC, Mosler, Hennessey, and Saleen. But long before any of those came around, Ford famously became obsessed with beating Ferrari at its own game, leading to the development of the iconic GT40.
The story is well known, sending Ford to the checkered flag at Le Mans four times in a row in the late 1960s. Ford and Shelby also built over 100 for public consumption, but just four of them were roadsters. Of those only one remains in original condition, and now that exceedingly rare example going up for auction.
Consigned to RM Auctions for its mid-August sale during Pebble Beach weekend in Monterey, California, this 1965 model is the first GT40 Roadster built. It was used as a development and demonstration vehicle for Ford and Shelby. Carroll Shelby himself drove Henry Ford II in this very car during one of many test and demo events, this time held for Ford's board of directors in Los Angeles.
2015 Ford Mustang to offer solid-rear axle, sort of
Tue, 17 Dec 2013One of the biggest knocks against the last Ford Mustang was its solid-rear axle. Not one to actively court criticism, Ford dutifully swapped out the old-fashioned rear end for something a bit more modern in the redesigned 2015 Mustang, adding an independent rear suspension across the board.
While an IRS Mustang is great news for those that value handling and ride comfort, there's one big group that it's bad news for - drag racers. See, a solid-rear axle is a big deal for drag racers, because not only is it more durable and cheaper, but it's better for the hard launches that can make or break a race.
To satiate this vocal demographic, Ford will sell a body-in-white version of the Stang, complete with a nine-inch rear axle, that will debut at the 2014 Performance Racing Industry show. The news came from gas2.org, which cited an unnamed employee of Ford Racing at this year's PRI show.
