What you are looking at is a 59 Ford with a TON of patina.  It was to be built for a rat rod event this Fall but we have aborted the project due to 3 full blown 100 pt. restorations that have arrived.  The trunk is super solid.  The passenger floor board is the worst, drivers has some issues.  (if not doing a full restoration it wouldn't take more than a few hours to weld some new sheet-metal in).  The frame is structurally strong, a few small side holes that I did take pictures of.  There is no motor, no transmitting or pumpkin in the rear (has axles and 9" housing).  This is a roller.   Headliner is in great shape.  Has some seats, not sure from what.  Does also have an exhaust system with a glass pack (single)

This car DOES come with a hood.  It was off in preparation of cleaning up under the hood.

The original plan was to keep this car looking exactly this way but update the drive line and brakes. We have a 10:1 big cam 390 FE, top loader 4 speed and 3:89 locker rear that were going to go in.  If this type of build is something you would be interested in, we can do that as well.  With this car being a run of the mill 4 door, I do not suggest a full resto.  While we do that, typically its convertibles, hardtops and or wagons.  We will also do a patina hot rod.  So if something around the 450HP mark with everything updated in this car is something you want, we can make that happen.  As we dont just specialize in 59 Fords, we do currently have 2 59 Builds at this time and this car would take a few months to get to.

Either way, you are looking at a potentially really fun tire-burning patina rat rod 59 Ford!

Ford 1.0L EcoBoost 3-Cylinder: Autoblog Technology of the Year award finalist

Wed, 19 Nov 2014

As the old saying goes, "There's no replacement for displacement." But these days, many automakers are launching powerful, downsized engines that offer similar or better power output than their predecessors, all while offering improvements in fuel economy and emissions. These days, we're seeing automakers replacing eight-cylinder engines with turbocharged sixes, and the naturally aspirated six-cylinder motors are being phased out in favor of potent turbo fours. But Ford has gone even smaller, offering a three-cylinder, turbocharged engine with one single liter of displacement.
Sure, three-cylinder engines aren't anything new - they've been offered around the globe for ages. But Ford's EcoBoost 1.0L powerplant is perhaps the best application the Autoblog team has tested. Gone are the triple-cylinder complaints of yore - this engine doesn't sound anemic or buzzy, and there's healthy power output on tap. In fact, compared to the 1.6-liter inline-four that Ford also offers in the Fiesta, the 1.0-liter is more powerful, while boasting an impressive 45 miles per gallon on the highway.
This engine has already received numerous accolades, including winning the International Engine of the Year award in 2012, 2013 and 2014. The 1.0L EcoBoost will be available in the refreshed 2015 Ford Focus here in the US.

Ford will build Hackmobile out of Transit Connect Wagon

Fri, 27 Dec 2013

What you see in the above image is a rendering of the Hackmobile Transit Connect Wagon. What is that? It's a "mobile fabrication and hacking unit" that includes tools for metal- and woodworking, 3D and electronics fabrication, a three-axis CNC machine called "The Fabber," a video projector and screen, an air compressor, an 84x48-inch work surface that folds out like a Murphy bed and oh so much more. When not in use, all of the implements fold neatly into the back of Ford's award-winning van.
But perhaps the more important question is why is that? Because Make Magazine held an Ultimate Maker Vehicle Challenge in conjunction with Ford in which ten teams created were charged with creating "the ultimate Ford Transit Connect Wagon for the do-it-yourself enthusiast." Team Twin Cities Maker won the competition with the Hackmobile, and in addition to winning $10,000, Ford has declared it's actually going to build the thing - which is great, because if they can actually engineer a road-legal Hackmobile Transit Connect Wagon as envisioned, the inevitable A-Team movie reboot might need to think about including it.
Check out the video below for a cheeky walk-through of the Hackmobile, and get all the particulars in the press release below that.

Next Ford F-150 delayed for aluminum body panel issues?

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

The timetable for next-generation Ford F-150 may be in trouble if a report from The Truth About Cars is true. The next F-150 is slated to make extensive use of weight-saving aluminum in its body, but the aluminum alloy provided by suppliers hasn't met Ford's requirements in the earliest phases of pre-production, according to the report.
The F-150 represents a huge portion of Ford's profits and is the best-selling truck in the US, even in the face of increased pressure from cross-town rivals General Motors and Ram. While the current truck is treading water against its competition, we'd be lying if we said the F-150 weren't growing quite long in the tooth.
If production of the next-generation of the Ford cash cow, said to be based on the Atlas Concept from the 2013 Detroit Auto Show (pictured above), is delayed, it could be bad for Ford. Production at Ford's Dearborn Truck Plant is already set to be delayed six to ten weeks, missing an internal on-sale deadline of Memorial Day.
