2006 Ford F250 XL Super Duty 6.0 turbo diesel Powerstroke V8

Crew Cab (four doors)
Automatic transmission with tow/haul mode
Cold A/C
CD/Cassette player (original Ford unit)
Power windows, door locks, mirrors.
Rubber floor, cloth bench seats.

Truck is very well maintained. Has about 129k miles on it and 2,950 hours, indicating highway miles. Clean title, no accidents. Dent on passenger side of bed, could be repaired but I haven't tried. No mechanical issues whatsoever. Michelin LTX tires with plenty of tread left.

Has never been modified or tuned, former government fleet vehicle. Coolant is very clean, recent oil change and fuel filter change. No trouble codes.

Is the XL/work truck model, but it has all the power options: power windows, locks, mirrors. Leer aluminum bed cap & keys included. The cap has some stress cracks in the aluminum frame and some dings but is still in good shape overall.

This truck has never had a receiver hitch or gooseneck hitch. I very recently installed a hitch ball in the bumper. It has been used to tow a 3,000 pound trailer one time. Hard to believe for a diesel pickup truck.

The instrument cluster is in Kilometers; vehicle was originally sold in Canada. Built in the US to US specifications and has the EPA certification label. You can have the cluster converted for a minimal cost, but I have not felt the need: the speedometer shows MPH in smaller numbers.

Book value is over $15,000.

Transit Courier completes Ford's new commercial van line, will we get it?

Sat, 13 Apr 2013

This week Ford rolled out the 2014 Transit Courier, the fourth addition to its Transit range. Ford says its the first time for the nameplate in the compact van segment.
"Ford has now completely transformed its commercial vehicle line-up, with four all-new, class-leading Transits for European customers," said Barb Samardzich, vice president of product development for Ford Europe. "With the all-new Transit range, we expect sales to grow to 400,000 units per year by 2016, well over 50 percent more than we sell today."
When the Courier goes on sale in the Spring of 2014, it will offer more than 1,400 pounds of payload capacity, multiple mounting points for racks or other framework and a rear cargo area that can carry items 5.3 feet-long. An optional folding passenger seat boosts the cargo length to 8.5 feet.

How the 2015 Ford Mustang will save your knees

Sat, 21 Jun 2014

The 2015 Mustang is one of the most hotly anticipated vehicles of the moment, and Ford continues to leak out interesting little details about its newest pony car. The latest info doesn't have anything to do with its quarter-mile time or handling, but if any of that goes drastically wrong, the innovative new glovebox-mounted airbag may prevent passengers from knee injuries.
All variants of the 2015 Mustang get the active knee airbag as standard, and it's the first vehicle in Ford's lineup to receive the system. The setup is actually quite simple and ingenious. The glovebox is made from a plastic outer panel that is attached to the inner door. Sandwiched between them is this new injection-molded plastic bladder that folds flat when in use. If the passenger-side airbag deploys, the system springs into action to act as a cushion for your knees. Compared to a traditional knee airbag that has to fully inflate, this arrangement is 65 percent lighter and can use a 75 percent smaller inflator. It's also basically invisible when you look at the glovebox door.
Ford spokesperson Ed Saenz declined to tell Autoblog whether the system will appear in other vehicles in the Blue Oval's lineup but said, "We're considering other applications." Provided it's effective, the approach seems too simple not to make its way to other products. Scroll down to watch a video showing how the glovebox-mounted knee airbag works.

Bill Ford op-ed argues we can't just build and sell more of the same cars

Thu, 10 Jul 2014

It's hardly a secret that the auto industry is undergoing an enormous, tectonic shift in the way it thinks, builds cars and does business. Between alternative forms of energy, a renewed focus on low curb weights and aerodynamic bodies, the advent of driverless and autonomous cars and the need to reduce the our impact on the environment, it's very likely that the car that's built 10 years down the line will be scarcely recognizable when parked next to the car from 10 years ago.
Few people are as able to explain the industry's many upcoming changes and challenges as clearly as William Clay Ford, Jr., better known as Bill Ford. The 57-year-old currently sits as the executive chairman of the company his great-grandfather, Henry Ford, founded over 110 years ago.
In an op-ed piece in The Wall Street Journal (subscription required), Ford explains that the role of automakers is, necessarily, going to change to suit the needs of the future world. That means changing the view of not just the automobile, but the automaker. As Ford explains it, automakers will "move from being just car and truck manufacturers to become personal-mobility companies."
