Up for auction is my excellent condition 1979 Ford F-150 4x4.  This is a no rust truck.  The body was taken off the frame and everything was rust proofed in 2009.  The paint is 4 years old but looks almost new.  The interior was replaced last year.  The 1984 bench seat was recovered in black vinyl at the same time as a new black carpet kit was installed.  The motor was replaced with a new 460 long block in late 2011.  The engine has less than 4,000 miles on it.  Other new parts include a 750 cfm Edlebrock carburetor, rebuilt 3 speed automatic transmission, fuel tank and custom dual exhaust.  It rides on new 35" BFGoodrich tires with a 6" suspension lift.  The truck starts, idles, cruises, corners and stops like new.  There are only a few minor projects remaining;  the front of the long bed has a small dent in it where something slid forward into it, the truck originally came with air conditioning but it needs a new compressor and plumbing, lastly it has sony speakers in it but no stereo at this time.  That's it.  Great truck through and through.  I have over $21K invested in the rebuild.  It's given me great pleasure to own but it is time to sell due to a new house and a sports car project. I will entertain all reasonable bids.  Thanks for looking.  Contact me via email and we can exchange phone numbers. Serious inquiries only please.

The truck is located in San Antonio, TX.  Payment will be with Bank Transfer, Certified Check or Cash in person.

Ford 3D-printing Mustang out of chocolate and candy for Valentine's Day

Thu, 13 Feb 2014

Is your beloved in love with the new 2015 Ford Mustang? Do they like chocolate (that's a trick question - everyone likes chocolate)? Are they a bit of a futurist? Then this Hallmark holiday, you need to get them this Ford Mustang, 3D-printed in sweet, delicious chocolate.
Ford is teaming with 3D Systems' Sugar Lab in LA to produce the super-accurate pony car confections in both chocolate and sugar candy varieties. The process kicked off with a CAD rendering of the 2015 Mustang, which was then programmed into the 3D printer. After a bit of work from the machine, a four-inch long, two-inch tall Mustang was the result. Why the tieup with 3D Systems, though?
"We wanted to create something fun to show that while 3D printing made these edible Mustangs, manufacturing-level 3D printing was used in the development of Ford's all-new sports car," said Paul Susalla, Ford's supervisor of 3D printing.

The history and future of the Ford Bronco

Tue, 17 Jun 2014

Some have suggested that the Bronco's demise was hastened by the fallout from the O.J. trial.
Twenty years ago today, ex-NFL linebacker Al "A.C." Cowlings drove his friend and onetime running back Orenthal James "O.J." Simpson on a parade lap of the Los Angeles highway system and onto an ignoble page of the history books. If you're in your late 20s or older, or a fastidious young student of 1990s American history, you're absolutely aware that Al and O.J.'s steed for the 'chase' was a white Ford Bronco. The white Ford Bronco, even.

Ford F-250 boots Cadillac Escalade from atop thieves' most-wanted list

Tue, 09 Jul 2013

The Ford F-Series has been America's best-selling truck for decades, but along with the good comes the bad, apparently. In addition to being popular with consumers, the Highway Loss Data Institute notes that the F-Series Super Duty has risen in popularity among thieves. Based on its new study, the four-wheel drive crew cab F-250 Super Duty has topped the list for the country's highest rate of insurance theft claims, knocking the Cadillac Escalade from the top spot - a distinction the luxury SUV has held since this annual report was first established in 2003.
To reach its findings, HLDI looks at theft data from the previous three model years (in this case 2010-2012) to determine the frequency of claims for a particular make and mode,l as well as the average payment per claim. As the report points out, the claims aren't always for the theft of the entire vehicle - they can include components (say, wheels and tires) or property taken from the vehicle. At seven claims per 1,000 insured vehicles, the F-250 is six times more likely to suffer a theft claim than the average vehicle.
The Cadillac likely dropped from the top of the list to sixth due to additional theft-prevention features including a steering wheel lock and inclination sensor for the alarm, but GM's other fullsize trucks and SUVs still occupy eight of the list's 10 spots. Some of the least stolen vehicles with below-average loss payments include the Lexus HS250h, Hyundai Tucson, Honda CR-V and Dodge Journey. Head on over to the HLDI's website for the full list that shows the most and least popular vehicles among thieves from 2010 through 2012.
