2003 Ford F150 XLT F4X Off Road Package Extended Cab 4x4 Pick-up for sale by owner.  This truck is beautiful inside and out and in like-new condition.  The truck is mechanically sound and well maintained, with an oil change and check-up at the Ford Dealership every 2,000 miles.  The interior and body are also well maintainedand and have no tears or excessive wear, no dents, rust or scratches.  As I have a company car, this truck remains stored in the garage and usually only comes out on the weekends to run errands.  The truck is equipped with Ford's powerful Tritan V8 engine (with chrome tipped dual exhaust which has a low powerful rumble that sounds awesome) and the F4X Off Road Package, however the only off-roading this vehicle has ever seen was an occassional dirt road.  It's also equipped with Ford's towing package, however the largest thing ever towed, was my small 12 foot fishing boat.  I love this truck and dread having to part with it, but I recently accepted a new job out of the area and will no longer have a company car, so I have to down size to a more fuel efficient vehicle.  My loss is definitely going to be someone else's gain on this one.  Local pick-up and cash or certified bank check only.  Sincerly interested buyers only please.

EPA says fuel economy test for hybrids is accurate

Mon, 26 Aug 2013

The EPA says it stands behind its fuel economy test for hybrid vehicles following controversy about the testing process after Ford C-Max Hybrid customers and automotive journalists alike struggled to achieve 47 miles per gallon, the advertised mpg number, Automotive News reports. Ford responded to the issue almost two weeks ago by claiming that a 1970s-era EPA general label rule was responsible for the inaccurate mileage numbers, rerating the C-Max Hybrid's mpg numbers and offering customers rebates. Ford later said it didn't overstate the C-Max Hybrid's fuel economy and that it was surprised by the low numbers.
Ford technically didn't do anything wrong because it was following the general label rule, but agency regulator Christopher Grundler says the automaker was exploiting a loophole when it came up with the hybrid C-Max numbers, and that the testing process remains accurate. The general label rule allows vehicles that use the same engine and transmission and are in the same weight class to share fuel economy numbers, but it doesn't take into account other factors such as aerodynamic efficiency, which affects hybrids more drastically than non-hybrid vehicles. Ford originally used the Fusion Hybrid economy figures for the C-Max Hybrid and claimed the engineers didn't realize that its aerodynamic efficiency would affect fuel economy as much as it did.

2015 Ford F-150 [w/videos]

Thu, 02 Oct 2014

To learn more about the all-new 2015 F-150 and get an early read on its potential hero-or-zero status, we flew to the heart of full-size pickup truck country, San Antonio, TX, to spend a day driving, towing and playing in the mud with an assortment of Ford's innovative new trucks.
First, a caveat - while we feel we have a reasonably good handle on the new F-150 after attending this first-drive event, we are far from ready to pass definitive judgment on the success of this radically new rig. Our time in the various models was lamentably limited and we felt rushed. With so much at stake and with so much to talk about and experience, we had zero alone time with the vehicle - there were Ford folks shadowing us at every moment.
And we still don't know everything there is to know about the trucks, as Ford is withholding some of its most crucial numbers, including curb weight data and anticipated EPA fuel economy figures. We don't even have a firm on-sale date. All of this information is typically disclosed - or at least officially estimated - at the time of a new vehicle's first drive. This limits the scope of the judgments we feel comfortable making based on our first encounter.

Ford pulls official support from top-level NHRA teams

Sun, 11 Aug 2013

As the smallest team in the sport, it wasn't really a surprise when Dodge decided to pull out of NASCAR, but Autoweek is reporting that Ford is looking to pull the plug on its professional-level NHRA sponsorships following the 2014 season. With attendance and television ratings down, the article reports that Ford is just backing out of the top series but will remain active in the Sportsman classes of racing, which are geared more toward the grassroots and semi-professional racers.
This means that one of drag racing's biggest names, John Force, will be left looking for new sponsorship after next season. Force, 64, has been with Ford for 17 years, winning 15 championships in that time and winning almost half of all Funny Car events in his Mustang since he started working with Ford in 1997, but after 2014, there could be some big shakeups at John Force Racing.
According to the report, Force would consider is moving over to the Top Fuel dragster series, although he could also move to another manufacturer to remain in the Funny Car series. With Ford on the way out, this leaves just Toyota and Dodge as the remaining active automakers in the highest levels of drag racing.
