I love this truck.  It was a gift from my wife for my 70th birthday.  It always starts right up and runs great.  Cruises right along just  fine even at 70mph.  Drives straight down the road and stops straight.  Power steering conversion kit.   Power disk brake kit, disk in front and drum in rear.   It is an older restoration with some modifications.  Reverse chrome rims (I love the look of chrome  reverse  rims) with baby moons.  Original gas gauge and speedometer/odometer work.  Mileage shows 74,139 and that is probably very close for the chassis/body but the engine is not original-its' a 351 Cleveland but I don't know what year.  Supplemental oil, temp and amp gauges work.  Turn signals work although sometimes when you turn left it doesn't automatically cancel.  Windshield wipers work fine.   Headlights and tail lights work.  Tilt wheel.  Interior is very tastefully finished with gray/maroon vinyl that looks like leather.

The 351C Ford engine has been rebuilt and increased to 400 with a C6 transmission that shifts very smoothly.  Running boards are new fiberglass.  Gas tank is also new. Rear end is Dodge 8&3/4 inch limited slip.  Bed floor is oak with metal strips and although the oak looks good in the pics, in my opinion the oak needs to be refinished.  The bed on this truck is not the original as you can see in the pics. I don't know if it is a reproduction or from another kind of truck. You can see that the top of the sides is flat rather than slanted. I like it this way but have never seen another of this vintage with this "feature". Has a B&M shifter. Glass is all good and looks new to me with tint on sides and back window. Dual exhaust sounds really nice. The paint job is quite old (not sure when it was painted) and has some scratches, nicks, chips, cracks but looks really good from a few feet away.  I'm embarrassed to say that the color is a Chrysler color.  It shines up really well.

Instead of chains on the tailgate, I put nylon ropes because I didn't want the metal chains banging against the gate. Has a Sony radio with cassette player (nothing special) and seems to work OK but I can't figure out how to set the time on the display.   There is a picture of it but I have to tell you that there is a screw through the roof.  You can't see it till you get in the bed and look down on it or unless you are seven feet tall.  I didn't find this till I had owned it for about six months.  I have no idea why it's there.  I'm trying to think of something else to say but can't. Email me with questions.  I don't have anything to hide.

As with all cars/trucks sold on ebay, there is no warrantee/guarantee, etc.  I believe the terminology is "as is/where is".  I have tried to give you a truthful and detailed description of this truck but please don't hesitate to email me with questions.  Or come and take a look and drive it.  Buyer is of course responsible for shipping or pickup.  I need a non-refundable $1000 deposit within 48 hours via paypal and then the rest in certified cashiers bank check or cash in the next five days.  Unlike all the dealers seem to be doing these days, I am not going to charge you a "doc" fee.

Now for the problem....................

Why am I selling this truck if I like it so much???????????It's my wife (the little sweetheart). She hasn't bought into the concept of a collection and won't let me have more than one classic car/truck at a time (bummer) and I have my eye on a Ranchero.

And, she won't  let me buy it till I have this one sold  even if I promise to sell it right after the new one arrives. Double bummer.......................

Ford reveals concept trucks that ultimately became Atlas

Wed, 03 Apr 2013

The Ford Atlas Concept was one of the quiet success stories of the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, and now Ford has given us a quick glimpse as to how that creation came to be. Designers actually combined two early sketches to build the Atlas. One, called the Bullet Train, is a futuristic, aerodynamic creation, while the other, aptly named the Locomotive, features the squared off proportions we're familiar with.
Once designers settled on the truck's proportions, they began nailing down exactly which attributes they wanted the final design to have. The Concept's notched windshield originated as a forked glass roof that seamlessly transitioned into the windscreen.
Likewise, designers wanted to fit the truck's tailgate with a storage compartment for tools and a first aid kit, but settled on the dual-purpose step/cargo cradle. Interestingly enough, the concept's active aero shutter wheels actually originated in some of the earliest sketches. Check out the photos and slides here for a closer look.

2015 Ford Mustang 50th Anniversary Edition says 'happy birthday' in New York

Wed, 16 Apr 2014

Fifty years ago this week, Ford debuted the first-ever Mustang at the New York World's Fair. And to celebrate, the Blue Oval is offering up this special, 50th Anniversary Edition 2015 Mustang, which makes its debut at the New York Auto Show. It'll be a seriously limited affair, with only 1,964 examples of the special edition Mustang slated to be produced (the number chosen to coincide with the 'Stang's first year in production). But for those who raise their hands for the 50th Anniversary package, there's a pretty sweet package in store.
The 50th Anniversary Edition is based on the 2015 Mustang GT with the Performance Pack, and is only available in two colors: Kona Blue, or Wimbledon White (pictured). The car also comes fully loaded - the only option for buyers to choose is the transmission. Should you opt for the six-speed automatic, you'll get a limited-slip rear differential with a 3.55:1 final-drive ratio (the 50th Anniversary car is also the only way to get a slushbox-equipped 'Stang with the Performance Pack). Selecting the six-speed manual 'box will net you a Torsen differential with a 3.73:1 ratio. All 50th Anniversary cars will be powered by Ford's 5.0-liter, naturally aspirated V8, estimated to produce more than 420 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque in the 2015 Mustang.
Inside, there's a cashmere-stitched, leather-wrapped steering wheel, with a similar detail found on the instrument panel, shift boot, door inserts, seats, and center armrest. Two-tone leather/black upholstery is also part of the 50th Anniversary package, and of course, there's a special logo on the seats.

This woman owns the first Ford Mustang sold in the US

Wed, 11 Dec 2013

As Ford celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Mustang with the unveiling of the all-new sixth-gen design, one Chicago women can lay claim to a piece of Mustang history. According to CBS Chicago, Gail Wise was the first person in the US to buy a Mustang in 1964, and she did so two days before the car was even unveiled to the public.
Wise, then a 22-year-old teacher, went into the Chicago Ford dealership wanting to buy a convertible, and a salesperson ushered her over to car covered by a tarp. That car was a baby blue Mustang convertible, which she still owns today - along with the documentation. After sitting for almost 30 years and undergoing a full restoration, the car now looks to be in original condition. The report says that this $3,400 purchase could be worth anywhere between $100,000 and $250,000. While this worked out well for Mrs. Wise, we wouldn't recommend anyone going into a dark, back room of a dealership hoping to get a jump on the purchase of a 2015 Mustang.
