Ok guys it has come time to sell my pride and joy. I have owned this car for over seven years
Few and far between are as clean as this car. But here we go Engine and Drivetrain 3.0L hybrid w/ with stage 3 PNP, 3L valves, custom ground cams, 8k on the 3L block w/only 1000k on the whole build, Max extrude honed upper, Stainless Steel shorty headers, 21lbs injectors, findanza flywheel, sachs clutch, rebuilt trans w/quaife limited slip, New ford Axles, New front wheel bearings, 94A Poly filled mounts done by Josh at PRT, Full Custom 2.5in true Duel exhaust. EGR delete, Stock SVT intake w/K&N drop in filter. Probably missing a few things Suspension and tires Koni Yellow Adj all the way around w/ H&R lowing springs, only 1000k on the Konis, ASA EM9 Wheels wrapped in Goodyear Eagle GT's w/only 800 miles on them. Ford to rebrand SVT as 999?
Mon, 22 Sep 2014Ford operates a number of performance divisions around the world. There's SVT in the US, Team RS in Europe and Ford Performance Vehicles (FPV) in Australia. But the Blue Oval has been steadily integrating its performance operations into one unit, and here we might have our first indication of what it will be called.
A reader at Jalopnik sent in a survey in which respondents were asked to gauge the name for a new performance brand from a "major automotive manufacturer," and while the identity of that automaker was not disclosed, according to the survey, the automaker is considering the name 999 for its new go-fast unit.
As our compatriots point out, the 999 was Ford's first racecar, a rudimentary chassis with a 19-liter inline-four campaigned by Henry Ford around the turn of the 20th century. (Ford also used the number to designate a Fusion fuel-cell racer a few years back.) That could prove the tie-in Dearborn is looking for in rebranding its performance operations worldwide, replacing the letters SVT, RS and FPV globally under one name.
Ford rethinking vehicle launch strategy
Tue, 07 May 2013With a new boss at the helm, Ford is looking at new ways to improve its vehicle launches in North America to prevent recent issues that have popped up with models like the Lincoln MKZ, Ford Escape and Ford Fusion. Speaking with Automotive News, Ford's new president of the Americas, Joe Hinrichs, revealed a few ways the automaker plans to avoid early build issues such as the engine fires on certain 2013 Escape and Fusion models and months-long delays for customers to receive their MKZs.
It sounds like the root of the problems may have been Ford's relationship with suppliers compounded by the fact that the product surge came on the heels of the recent industry-crippling recession, and in the AN article, Hinrichs says improvements are being made to reduce problems during the launch of new or redesigned models. Three such improvements that were implemented during the first quarter of this year including more rigorous quality comparisons, better use of computer technology to catch major problems sooner and hiring engineers to work closer with suppliers.
Ford Recalling 70k Escape and Mariner Hybrids for cooling issue
Fri, 12 Sep 2014Ford is recalling about 70,209 examples of the 2005-2008 Ford Escape Hybrid and the 2006-2008 Mercury Mariner Hybrid because the cooling pumps for their hybrid systems could fail.
According to the company's defect notice, it's possible for the original "Motor Electronics Coolant (MEC) Pump" to wear out and fail, which would could cause the hybrid system to overheat. If this happens, the vehicle goes into a safety mode that takes away most or all of its power. However, braking and steering still operate normally. After cooling down, the affected models restart normally. The company says that it's not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this problem.
Ford will begin repairing the vehicles in late October, and dealers will be installing improved, brushless pumps on the affected models at no charge to owners. If drivers had their pumps fail before this recall, they can contact Ford for a possible reimbursement.
