1970 Fiat 500 on 2040-cars
Allison Park, Pennsylvania, United States
1970 Fiat 500 L -- 595 CC 2 cylinder rear engine. Top speed in the high 60s, maybe 70. I have read that the gas mileage is 50-60 mpg, but I have never calculated it. I installed new interior door panels, sun visors, rear panels, door handles, window cranks, glove box, and other interior parts last year. Tires are in great shape as I rarely drive it. I bought this car in Italy in 1999 and shipped it back to the US. I believe I'm only the third owner. The odometer shows 62,379 kilometers. Parts are easy to get online or from US retailers that specialize in Italian cars (e.g. JC Olbert and Company). I have brake pads, brake drums, fuel filter, shocks, door seals, new body panels (hood, front panel, fenders, rear quarter panel) and various other new spare parts that I will send with the car. Check the NADA pricing guide if you have any doubt about the value. Nice shape. The car runs great and is a real head turner. Would be a show car with new paint and body work in key areas (has some dings/dents and peeling paint).Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. |

Jeepster name may be used for Fiat-based baby Jeep
Tue, 17 Dec 2013In 1948, Willys-Overland, the forbearers of Jeep, built a vehicle called the Jeepster. It was a funky little thing, designed as a mix of the more rugged Jeeps that came before with what was then a modern car, which arguably makes it the world's first crossover. The name was later revived from 1966 to 1972, which means for Jeep enthusiasts, it has some history.
Now, the modern Jeep brand may revive the Jeepster name for a new product, likely based on Fiat bones, that will slot in at the bottom of the brand's range underneath the soon-to-depart Compass and Patriot. The report comes from Australia's Drive, which cites a dealer source that has seen the vehicle.
That same dealer confirmed there is a link between the Jeepster and the rumored Fiat 500X, and that the former will be available in both front and all-wheel-drive variants. The source also claims both gas and diesel engines will be available, although as this is an Aussie site, we shouldn't take that to mean we'll get a diesel Jeepster in the US.
Fiat Chrysler Automobiles gets officially official this Sunday
Thu, 09 Oct 2014Want a chunk of the new Fiat Chrysler Automobiles? Shares of the newly joined (technically) Dutch automaker will begin trading on Monday on the New York Stock Exchange. The company itself will become a single entity on Sunday.
According to The Detroit Free Press, the new FCA will be the world's seventh largest company after Fiat shareholders' chance to oppose the merger expired on October 4. To prevent the merger, shareholders would have needed to exchange at least 500 million euros in shares for cash.
On Monday, current shareholders of both Fiat and Chrysler stock will see their shares converted into an equal number of FCA shares, the Freep reports.
Maserati Levante SUV may be built in Italy after all
Thu, 05 Sep 2013In July Fiat halted its investments in Italy, putting on hold plans for the Maserati Levante SUV to be built at the automaker's flagship factory in Turin. But Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne, whose company owns Maserati, met with unions on Wednesday, and he may announce plans to move forward with production of the SUV at the Mirafiori factory if the CEO and the unions reach an agreement, Bloomberg reports.
Marchionne is reportedly about ready to build new cars at Fiat's largest and oldest factory, on the grounds that 5,300 workers accept extended temporary layoffs through most of next year in a slowing European auto market. If unions don't accept the deal, it's not clear whether Fiat would still consider building the Levante at Mirafiori or not.
The Levante, Maserati's first SUV, is based on the Jeep Grand Cherokee platform, and we reported two years ago that it would be built in Detroit next to its Jeep cousin. Obviously those plans have been altered considerably in the intervening period of time.
