This Dodge Sweptside Pickup is probably one of the best that is for sale to found anywhere. Needs completion. Rust free and heavily optioned. All parts including moldings and emblems have been cleaned, polished and rechromed as necessary. Have front bumper guards, chrome bumpers, gravel guards, new tinted windshield, new radial, whitewall tires, new bed wood, custom cab with the 325 cu.in. V-8 poly engine (245 h.p.) in very good condition as well as the highly, desired pushbutton, Torque-Flight automatic transmission. This is a NO Rust vehicle with no new metal added. All guages have been refurbished and recalibrated to perfection. You are looking at a vehicle that still needs completion. The seller has all parts to complete. Buyer will need to complete the following items: Brake work, install engine w/proper gaskets which is included, upholstery of seats, headliner and door panels, minor touch up painting and or body work may yet be required. I have a new wiring harness too. Windshield and back glass have been installed w/new rubber. Also have the very rare windshield, stainless steel moldings. Have the new rubber for the windows and doors yet to be installed. Undercarriage and frame has all been media blasted, primed and painted. In 2012, a completed 1958 Dodge Sweptside Pickup sold for $66,000.00 at Barrett-Jackson Auctions in Scottsdale. I have estimated the cost to complete this pickup will cost approximately $7,500.00 which is a very generous figure, however you be the judge. Health problems have contributed in my decision to offer this outstanding example of a very rare pickup at this very reasonable price. Keep in mind that only 900 were ever made. Jay Leno should also look at this offering if he does'nt have one already. Low production and low survival rates make this pickup a very good investment.

2015 Dodge Viper getting small increase in power
Tue, 29 Jul 2014The Viper is used to being the most powerful car in the Dodge and SRT stables, but the arrival of the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat means that's no longer the case. The serpentine supercar is, however, reportedly getting a small boost in output for 2015, amounting to all of five horsepower.
The increase was uncovered by Road & Track courtesy of the SAE J1349 certification process to which Detroit's Big Three automakers submit themselves and which reports the Viper's output at 645 hp instead of the 640 it was rated at until now. There are a hundred factors that could have contributed to the relatively mild boost in output (best guess? nothing at all changed...), but we doubt anyone's going to complain about some extra horses under the hood.
The five-horsepower boost brings the Viper that much closer to the 650-hp Chevy Corvette Z06, not to mention the 707-hp Hellcat, but the Viper's impressive power-to-weight ratio ought to mean it'll have little problem keeping up in a straight line - which is just one of the reasons why Chrysler won't shoe-horn the Hellcat into the Viper: as R&T points out, the supercharged engine is too heavy and the blower makes it too tall to fit in the Viper's engine bay.
Dodge Viper to out-Hell the Hellcat with supercharged V10?
Wed, 20 Aug 2014The Viper wouldn't be the Viper if it wasn't the most powerful model under the Chrysler umbrella. But with the arrival of the Hellcat engine in the Dodge Charger and Challenger, the Viper has fallen behind in the bragging rights department: where the new supercharged V8 produces 707 horsepower and 650 pound-feet of torque, the naturally aspirated V10 offers "only" 640 hp and 600 lb-ft - gargantuan output figures by almost any other standard, but crucially behind on the SRT power scale. Conner Avenue is going to have to do something about that.
Although the Hellcat's engine reportedly won't fit under the Viper's hood, SRT is now rumored to have another trick up its sleeve: supercharge the existing V10. According to the Pentastar performance enthusiasts at allpar.com, Chrysler has already taken delivery of the first such prototype engines so that it can begin the process of fitting it into an upgraded Viper.
The spooled ten-pot is tipped to produce around 800 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. More than that and the Viper's drivetrain, chassis and bodywork would have to be substantially reworked. Though beefier transmissions are available, fitting them would reportedly set off a domino-game of changes required to handle the added torque. Which may be something Chrysler would be prepared to do for the next-generation model, but in the meantime, 800 hp could prove enough to put the Viper back atop the Mopar performance ladder where it belongs, and give it an edge against the new Corvette Z06 to rekindle sales.
Dodge shows can-do attitude with grand Can'avan sculpture
Fri, 01 Nov 2013There are lots of ways to celebrate an important birthday, and all of them are well deserved. You can throw a big party, buy yourself something nice, or - if you're the altruistic type - do something for others in need. The latter is how Chrysler has opted to mark the 30th anniversary of its Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country.
Together with hunger-advocacy organization Canstruction, the Chrysler Foundation has built a full-scale replica of the Grand Caravan out of 30,000 food cans in the square at the corner of Yonge and Dundas in Toronto, a ways down the highway from where the real vans are built in Windsor. The sculpture was built over the course of 10 hours by 30 volunteers and was displayed earlier this week.
Now the installation is being taken down, and the cans of food are being donated to the Daily Bread Food Bank, which will assemble them into 2,000 food baskets to be distributed to those in need through its network of 200 food banks across the Canadian metropolis. Check out a neat time-lapse video of the build and the press release below.
