Year:1948 Mileage:500 Color: and interior that match the truck patina

Long Beach, California, United States

1948 Dodge Pilot House 3 window truck.  What you see is definitely not what you get with this truck! I picked up this truck from a farm/antique dealer in Mentone Ca. about 3 years ago. The store pitbull used to live in it. You see old Ford and Chevy trucks all day long, not many Dodge trucks out there, I've personally never seen another one like this one ever!!  Paint and markings on door is all original and not doctored to look a certain way, its true patina! Thumbs up all day long in this little hot rod. True Mopar! This truck was not a backyard build, no slapping parts together with this truck. This 48 Dodge was put together professionally buy the award winning Starlite Customs in Torrance Ca.  Look em up!

MOTOR

Newly rebuilt 440 (mid/late 70's block). I purchased the motor from a guy who builds Mopar motors for 440 source.  Unfortunately I did not get a build sheet with it, but whatever he did seems to work just right for anyone who doesn't mind going through tires regularly.  If you know motors and Mopars you know the history, HP, and reliability of a 440! Brand spanking new triple row radiator with high flopw water pump.  Runs cool at or around 180 degrees, no overheating problems as of yet. New radiator and full 12V system, brand new Optima red top battery. New distributor, plugs and wires. Overall the motor runs real real strong! Stock 440 Mopar exhaust manifold.

FRONT END:

Aftermarket front end, Mustang II style independent suspension with coil overs. Front end designed by Helix (you can find them here on e-bay for about $1600.00), has rack n pinion steering. Disc brakes. New brake lines throughout!

TRANS/REAR END:
Newly rebuilt 727 3 speed automatic trasnflight transmission, built at Community transmission in Bellflower Ca.  It shifts smooth as butter through all 3 gears.  Be ready though, it has some serious torque and you will be lighting up the tires more than you know!  Lokar push button shifter. Brand new custom drive shaft fitted to 2002 Ford Ranger rear end.  I'm not positive on the gear ratio but it pushes about 4500 RPM when going 65 down the freeway. Personally I like the "juice" when you punch the gas when cruising at 45mph.
newly built 3 speed auto 727 trans, with a ford rear end.

INTERIOR:

Interior is bare bones but is all there, personally I love it.  Has a functional original steering wheel, no tilt. Fully restored gauges all look amazing and have been installed, they light up a vintage glow at night but have not been hooked up to operate as of yet but fully functional once hooked up. Bench seat has been re upholstered to look "farmy" and sits pretty comforting. Has a hidden CD Player in glove box but having an issue with it, believe it burnt out due to faulty grounding to the unit. Still has original gun racks still installed in the rear window.

MISC:

Fully rewired, new custom exhaust, new aged walnut bed, new poly gas tank, new brake lines, and probably a few other things I am missing.  The undercarriage looks great and the rust is 95% topical, there is only one or two locations of bad cancer on the floor boards.

The Bad:

Having a small issue with kickdown cable, needs adjustment- as the when in park and giving heavy gas it will seldom jump into first gear.  I have already talked with Community Trans and they said to "bring it down for an easy adjustment.
The brake light trigger connected to the pedal needs to be worked on, when applying brakes the bake lights will sometimes stay engaged due to the switch placement on the pedal.
The doors open and close, but the locks need to be replaced and I would probably replace the latches as well.  All very common with a build like this.

This truck is truly one of a kind, I hate to see it go, but its time for another project!!

Please feel free to ask any questions, I will do whatever I can to honestly answer them.  I did the best I could to represent the truck discussed above.  I will be more than happy to sell to anyone anywhere, truck wont be released until all funds clear.  Buyer to pay all shipping expenses, I can help with a pick up as truck is located in Long Beach Ca. $500.00 non refundable deposit due immediately at the end of auction, payment due in full within 7 days of close of auction.  Please do not bid if you don't have the funds available.

I reserve the right to end the auction early due to local sale.

Good luck and bid with confidence.

 A few thing I forgot.
Comes with a fresh Edelbrock 650 cfm carb with electric choke. Has a Flame-Thrower HV 60,000 Volt Canister Coil. Very subtle and random pin striping throughout the exterior and interior that match the truck patina.  Tires are whitewall radials w >200 miles on them, staggered in the rear. Has all the dodge eblems and comes with hood and ornament.  Over 24k invested, recipets will go with the sale of the truck.
Don't be scared to make me an offer.

2003-04 Dodge Viper recalled for sudden airbag deployment

Fri, 15 Feb 2013

As if driving the old Dodge Viper (not the fancy new SRT model) isn't intimidating enough, imagine trying to wrangle that V10 beast and then suddenly having the airbags deploy. Yikes. That's apparently what could happen to some 3,660 Viper models from the 2003 and 2004 model years, and as such, Chrysler has issued a recall.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, part of the car's airbag control module may fail, causing the bags or seatbelt pre-tensioners to deploy without warning while the vehicle is in operation. That's a dangerous scenario in any car, let alone one offering insane horsepower a near-total paucity of safety nannies should things get squirrely.
Owners will be notified this month about the recall, though a remedy is not expected to be available until later this year. Scroll down for the full NHTSA statement.

Chrysler investing $20M in Toledo plant to support 9-speed auto production

Sun, 28 Apr 2013

In 2011, Chrysler announced a $72-million investment in its Toledo Machining Plant to modernize production of the eight- and nine-speed torque-converters for automatic transmissions made there. That upgrade work won't be finished until Q3 of this year, but Chrysler has already announced a further $19.6-million investment to increase production capacity for the nine-speeders.
The extra units will be necessary because the nine-speed transmission they'll be mated to is going into three popular models: it will debut on the 2014 Jeep Cherokee, then go into the Chrysler 200 and Dodge Dart. The company predicted that this year alone it would sell 200,000 units equipped with the nine-speed tranny, and it is spending some $374 million in addition to the investment in Toledo to upgrade production capacity for it.
The work attached to this new investment won't begin until Q3 of 2014, and it will be finished by the end of that year. There's a press release below with all the details.

Dodge Challenger Scat Pack adds power and noise, with a warranty

Thu, 17 Apr 2014

If you want to go fast, there's certainly nothing wrong with the Dodge Challenger SRT8. With 470 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque for 2014, there's certainly not much to complain about. But what if you want something more aftermarket in flavor? There's no shortage of options, but while turning to the tuner world will make your car plenty fast, that extra power won't just shred rear tires, it'll torch your warranty, as well. That's where Dodge's Scat Pack comes in.
With three stages of mods for both the 5.7 and 6.4-liter Hemi V8s Challenger (as well as the 5.7-liter Charger and, soon, the four-pot Dart), the Scat Pack cars give drivers all the power, aggression and noise of a heavily modded aftermarket car while maintaining the piece of mind provided by the Dodge warranty.
Power gets bumped up to 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque with the 6.4-liter Scat Pack, while the 5.7-liter can provide up to 58 hp and 47 lb-ft of torque to add to the stock engine's 375 horsepower and 410 pound-feet. It's the latter engine that can really get some work done, with upgrades ranging from the mundane - intake and exhaust - to the racy, like the ported heads and high-flow headers.
