70 Challenger, it has a refreshed low mileage 1965 413 engine.  New bearings, rings, swapped on 906 heads to lower the compression, head gaskets, high volume oil/water pumps.  Fresh pro built 727, kevlar bands, red alto clutches, cheetah full manual valve body.  Both engine/trans have under 150 miles.  Has a factory high stall converter from a roadrunner, 10".  The engine was factory rated at 360 horsepower, 470 torque, but now has a larger split duration cam, headers, new edelbrock 750 carb, aluminum single plane intake, hei style stand alone electronic distributor.  It revs like a 383 but has the torque of a 440.

3" summit exhaust system with mufflers.  New gas tank, original good working 3/8 sending unit.  New carter fuel pump, mechanical.  New door/window/trunk seals.  Champion radiator and clutch style cooling fan.  Driveshaft(balanced before being installed)has the larger 7290 u-joint, 8-3/4 rear.  Swapped to later slide type front disc brakes, slotted front rotors, 11" drums in the rear.  All new/rebuilt brake parts, wheel cylinders and hardware.  Front suspension is all rebuilt, bushings, tie rods etc.  All has been painted with por 15 including rear housing.  Has welded in 2x3 frame connectors, they do come up through the floor behind the seats which is covered by the carpet.

Bucket seats with new covers, new headliner, carpet and so on.  Pioneer cd player with aux input.  Does have a dash cap, not glued on, I had planned to send the pad out to have it redone, but looks ok as is.  After market gauges except it has the original speedometer and the original mileage is 40,9xx.  No heater box in the car, it is a factory ac car, but no parts remaining in the car from ac except firewall openings are covered, not welded/bolted, so easily removed.  Has the factory tinted glass that came in ac cars.  Window cranks not on in pic, but will be installed.  Hurst unimatic shifter in the floor, cable operated.

It sat for many years and became someones parts car.  Originally triple green.  Now black with matte black T/A stripes and hood.  It did have the lower quarters, trunk floor and partial front floor pans replaced.  Had some work around the window openings from the vtop holding moisture, deck filler/dutchman.  Valances front and rear are new goodmark pieces.  Fenders and doors and hood all were replaced and nice solid original parts.  Hood is steel with a bonded ta style scoop, used 50 dollar a tube fibertech fiberglass to smooth out.  The car was on a rotiserrie, underside blasted, por-15 painted then topped with rock it bed liner, looks like undercoating, but much easier to keep clean!  Has dupont base/clear, same black paint as a buick grand national.

Tried to list all the flaws.  I don't want to leave things out, may sound like it needs a lot, but it's a nice driver you can take to local shows and be proud of, yet not too nice you'd be afraid to drive it.  Why buy a project car that the paint and body work will cost more than one you can hop in and drive!

Wheels are 15x7 cop style with new white letter cooper cobra tires, 235/60 and 255/60s.  Trim and bumpers were painted black, bumpers were made to look like factory rubber bumpers, but have the bolts showing so it would be easy to replace with chrome if wanted.  And trim that's blacked out can be bought new.  It's certainly no show car, I built it to drive and enjoy.  Trunk is bedlined so I wouldn't have to worry about scratching it if I wanted to use it to haul anything.  It could use some detail work or things changed to meet your tastes, like the trim is painted black on the hood/trunk areas.  Being an original 318 car, you can drive and enjoy it like these cars were made to do.

Title in hand, I've owned the car since 06 and complete last March, it is PA inspected and I drive it 4-5 times a week locally.  I have not driven it further than 20 miles on any drive, so not sure I'd want to drive it cross country yet.  Immediate paypal deposit if you use the buy it now.  I will accept cash or cashier check, car/title will not leave my possession until the money has cleared to my account... cash at pickup would be ideal.

Additional pics to show when it was painted before assembly.  Also one pic with a set of 17x7 and 20x8 us mag wheels, buyer can opt to get the car with the cop wheels or the us mag wheels, but only 1 set included on the car.

Lots of new parts, the car was completely disassembled to a shell while restoring it.  Inside the frame was coated with por-15 where accessible.  Inside of the quarters also.  I built the car to last.

I don't need to sell the car, so I won't give it away... but at 6'5", I find b-bodies more comfortable, so if I sell it, I will paint my 68 sport satellite and use it for my summer cruiser.  I also enjoy building them more than driving them.  I would consider partial trades, 68-70 b-bodies would be at the top of the list, but not valued over 10k, prefer a 70 roadrunner project.  Would consider other projects.   Possibly a wrecked 08 and up challenger srt/rt. Maybe even a built ls1 trans am.  Not really interested in imports.  Possibly take an R1, CBR1000 or 1 liter bike on trade towards it also... Never hurts to ask, but not looking for just anything and nothing over over 10k.

Was made an offer I agreed to and buyer found another car he wanted instead... so the car is being relisted.  This is the last time I will run the ad.  The price is firm at 16500, not accepting offers, this is my bottom dollar.  If you use the buy it now option, you will have to pay $500 immediately and this is non refundable!  So be 100% sure you are going to buy the car.

Also I live about 2.5 hours from Carlisle.  Chrysler at Carlisle is next month and I would have no problem keeping the car here until then.  Fly in, drive it to Carlisle and drive it home.  I can also assist in shipping if needed.  There is an airport 10 mins from my house and a train station 5 mins away.

Help find Kenny Wayne Shepherd's stolen 1972 Dodge Charger

Mon, 11 Nov 2013

Judging by his collection of cars, blues musician Kenny Wayne Shepherd (shown above, at left, with fellow musician George Thorogood) is an enthusiast of classic Dodge muscle cars, so it's no surprise that he is an active member of Mopar-related online communities. When his 1972 Dodge Charger turned up missing from an LA-area warehouse last Wednesday, Shepherd took to the forums of Moparts.org in an attempt to get the word out in hopes of recovering his custom classic.
The Charger was stolen along with four other vehicles, and Hot Rod reports that two women have been taken into custody since - but still no word on the car. With its blacked-out appearance (including custom Foose wheels), this car is definitely hard to miss, but Shepherd also said that the car might be even more distinguishable now due to some body damage that may have occurred as it was being driven from the warehouse lot. Shepherd's website has a full gallery of images for this '72 Charger, which also has a modern 392-cubic-inch V8 under the hood and a six-speed gearbox pulled from a Viper.
If you're in the LA area and happen to see this car, Shepherd asks that you call the LAPD West Valley Division at 818-374-7611. Here's to hoping this one-of-a-kind Charger turns up unscathed.

Chrysler's Jefferson North plant builds 5-millionth SUV [w/video]

Thu, 15 Aug 2013

Chrysler's Jefferson North Assembly Plant opened in 1992 for production of the first Jeep Grand Cherokee, but in the subsequent years, the Detroit plant has gone on to produce some of the company's biggest SUVs including the Jeep Commander and Dodge Durango. Earlier this week, the plant produced its five-millionth SUV, which, fittingly, was a Grand Cherokee.
Celebrating the plant's five-millionth unit, the silver 2014 Grand Cherokee was promptly donated to the USO. In addition to this milestone SUV, Chrysler also had a near-perfect 1993-95 ZJ Grand Cherokee on hand for the photo op. Scroll down for the Chrysler press release as well as a video showing some of the speeches from the celebration.

2013 Dodge Dart GT

Mon, 16 Dec 2013

My younger brother bought a Dodge Dart earlier this summer. It's a basic SXT, in Maximum Steel Metallic, with the 2.0-liter engine, a six-speed automatic transmission and not a whole lot else. Unfortunately, at the time, the Dart was one of the few cars in the compact class I'd never driven. I didn't know a lot about it, and therefore, didn't have a lot to say when he bought it. I think the words "based on an Alfa," popped out when I first saw it.
As it turns out, he's grown quite fond of the dark gray sedan, so it was with some degree of enthusiasm that I paid him a visit in this bright-orange Dart GT. I was excited to see what it was about the Dart that he enjoyed so much, despite my tester featuring a different engine, transmission and a lot more tech. After a week with the car, though, I must say: I don't quite see what all the fuss is about.
