1978 Chrysler New Yorker Brougham Great condition. Virtually no rust. Car runs
and drives. Pics of all interior flaws are provided. Otherwise, it is
excellent. There really isn’t any flaws on the body. It is about perfect. The
only flaw may be one small spot on the vinyl top that will be in a pic. Here is some additional info on the
cars. ·
The car supposedly has a rebuilt 400 engine
about ~8,000 miles ago according to previous owner (I cannot verify this
information). I bought the car several years from a guy who bought it from the
original owner. Therefore, it was in the original owners hands up until then. I
was told it was always garaged. The engine rebuild was done by profession shop,
but whoever did the rest of the installation didn’t do the greatest job. Some wires are not routed the best, coil
bracket is missing, it has holley carb instead of the original carb, etc. The
holley carb doen’t work the best on the car. I was going to find original carb
for the car. Engine sounds great (it still has new looking paint), but carb
needs tuning or new carb installed. ·
The antenna doesn't automatically go up and
down, and one window sometimes needs help going up and down. ·
No dashboard cracks. ·
No rust on bottom of car. Undercoating looks
perfect still. Some very few minor surface rust spots in engine compartment
just starting to show. ·
Tires are excellent ·
Mileage shows 22,000 but I’m guessing it is
122,000 miles ·
There appears to be some leaking current or
short. If the car sits for a couple weeks without running, the battery will
die. Battery will likely need replaced. ·
The driver side window needs a little “help” the
last inch to close. |

Fiat Chrysler quietly sends Pentastar logo out to pasture
Wed, 05 Nov 2014Logos come and go, and in the case of the famed Chrysler Pentastar, it's on its way back out. The well-known five-sided emblem, which sits prominently atop the massive Chrysler Technical Center complex in Auburn Hills, MI, is officially going to be phased out now that the company has united with Fiat and formed the new Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.
As a nearly 50-year-old icon, though, the fate of the Pentastar has been deeply intertwined with Chrysler's history. Hemmings has an excellent recap of that history, from its development in 1962 by a Chrysler ad agency through to its temporary discontinuation during the disastrous marriage between the American company and Daimler-Benz, and then on to its revival during the time the automaker regained its independence.

Detroit Three autoworkers could get huge bonuses
Mon, 06 Jan 2014For a long time, being a line worker for one of the Detroit Three has meant living with an uncertain future. With the health of American automakers on the rise, though, things are also starting to look up for the men and women building the cars. The latest sign that things aren't bad? Big profit-sharing checks.
According to The Detroit News, Ford, General Motors and Chrysler could end up paying over $800 million to 130,000 workers as part of a profit-sharing plan. According to The News, the economic impact of these profits in Michigan alone could exceed $400 million, besting the NFL's Super Bowl, MLB's All-Star Game and the NHL's Winter Classic for their economic impact.
This is the third straight year the Detroit Three have issued profit-sharing checks to UAW employees, and for many workers, the checks are as close as they'll get to a raise, due to the most recent contract between the union and the manufacturers. On average, employees at GM and Ford receive $1 for every $1 million in North American (not just the US) pre-tax profits. Chrysler, meanwhile, gets a similar deal, although the Auburn Hills-based company calculates profit sharing using 85 percent of the brand's global profits.
Five automakers now being investigated by NHTSA for airbag woes
Thu, 12 Jun 2014It appears that Toyota's renotification to owners of recalled vehicles from last year is just the tip of the iceberg for what could potentially be a much larger industry-wide recall. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is opening a preliminary evaluation investigation into roughly 1.1 million vehicles from Chrysler, Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Toyota and parts supplier Takata regarding faulty airbag inflators in several models.
NHTSA has received six reports - three directly, two from Takata and one from Toyota - of vehicles with ruptured airbag inflators from 2002-2006, which resulted in three injuries. So far, all six incidents have occurred in high humidity areas like Florida and Puerto Rico. According to Toyota's latest recall announcement, the inflators may have an improper propellant that could cause it to rupture in a crash and the bag to deploy abnormally.
This new investigation follows a previous recall from April 2013 of about 3.4 million vehicles worldwide for the airbag inflators from Takata. As Autoblog reported, Toyota jumpstarted the new situation when it found that the original list of serial numbers for the faulty part was incomplete and discovered more cars in need of replacement. Honda and Nissan told us that they were investigating whether further models would need called in again as well. Mazda told Autoblog: "Regarding the current Takata situation, we're working closely with NHTSA and investigating the situation, but nothing else to report at this time." Chrysler Group responded to us with the statement: "Chrysler Group engineers are conducting the appropriate analysis. The Company will cooperate fully with the National Highway Traffic Administration."
