1962 Chrysler 300 Sport 413ci on 2040-cars

Year:1962 Mileage:135075

This vehicle has an interesting story to go along with it. The car was found under a fig tree where it had been sitting for 30 or so years. The tree had to be cut away to even see the car. Bees had made a hive inside the left side of the trunk but the bees have all been removed and the hive is gone. The only thing left is the rusty trunk floor and left quarter.

This vehicle needs a total restoration and is mostly complete, missing only a few things. The car does have some rusty parts and dents in a few places. I put an electric fuel pump on the car to see if it would start and it did. It smoked for a little while but it went away and the car seems to run really good. The driveshaft is not in the car( it is in the trunk), so I have not driven the car, the push buttons for the transmission seem to be stuck in reverse (the trans is turning when the engine is running) so that will need to be addressed as well. I have not pulled the carpet back to see what the floors look like but I will if you need pics of those areas. I took as many pics as I could so you could see all the areas. The frame rails look to be in good shape, all the glass is in good shape, I haven't noticed any dents in the trim except for the broken 300 medallions on the rear quarters. The bumpers will need to be stripped and rechromed. I have another right door that is complete that will go with the car (in case you don't want to fix the dent in the current door). The taillights are broken as is the left taillight trim. All the pics of the underside of the car show only surface rust that may/may not be an issue to clean up. When I took the pics the car was running so I took a pic of the instrument panel. The charging system was working, the oil pressure was up and the temp gauge was working. I did replace the water pump and I put a used starter in the car so it would run without any problems. The fuel line is not hooked up and the brake master cylinder is empty. I do not know the condition of the fuel tank but I would bet it needs replacing.

I have a number of parts that go with the car: One extra door glass, the bumper jack, one horn, the door previously mentioned, water pump pulley, two outer mirrors, one ashtray, 6 boxes that contain seals and springs for the wheel cylinders, the "Chrysler" plate for the left front fender, an extra hood latch, an extra trunk latch, two misc pieces for an instrument panel and a front turn signal housing. I also have a push button mechanism for the dash (transmission i believe).

Please ask any and all questions before you bid, also if you need/want pictures of any other area that I did not cover let me know and I will post them for you.

Car has a clean/clear title. Car is being offered as is without any warranty expressed or implied.

THE AREA WHERE THE NUMBERS ARE STAMPED HAS AN "S" ON IT. I LOOKED THAT "S" UP AND IT MAY BE THAT THIS ENGINE WAS A WARRANTY REPLACEMENT ENGINE.

Fiat and UAW back at negotiating table over Chrysler stake

Mon, 23 Dec 2013

We knew there'd be no Chrysler IPO before the end of this year, but Fiat is determined to get the best run going into 2014 and is back at the poker table with the UAW. The delay was said to be Chrysler's desire to clean up a tax issue with the IRS; turns out that also bought the carmaker time to try and close a deal for the UAW's 48.5-percent stake in the company before the IPO happens.
Whereas the price Chrysler was willing to pay was once more than $1 billion under the UAW's asking price, the gap has closed to just $800 million of late. A recent valuation of the company at $10 billion - a valuation the UAW has disputed - means Fiat would be looking to pay about $4.2 billion instead of the $5 billion that the UAW seeks. But the UAW needs to hold out for the highest amount it can get because its pension obligations through the Voluntary Employee Benefit Association (VEBA) are $3.1 billion greater than the VEBA's assets, which include the Chrysler stake.
There's a clause in the agreement that Fiat can buy the VEBA shares for $6 billion, but Fiat CEO Sergio Marchionne has said that the UAW "should buy a ticket for the lottery" if they even want $5 billion. The UAW, though, has more time to wait; it's Fiat that wants access to Chrysler's $11.9-billion war chest and that would like to avoid the risk of paying the full $6 billion for the UAW share if the float really takes off. With other valuations of Chrysler as high as $19 billion, a hot IPO could make that $6 billion look like a bargain.

Chrysler files for IPO

Tue, 24 Sep 2013

Chrysler has had a lot of owners over the past few years alone, from Daimler to Cerberus to Fiat and the federal government. But it could be poised to gain some more before long. Like, a lot more.
The automaker has just announced that it has filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission to issue an Initial Public Offering of common stocks. Chrysler hasn't revealed how many shares will be offered and at what price, however the shares in question will not come out of Fiat's approximate 60% majority shareholding but instead out of the 40% minority stock held by the UAW's VEBA retiree healthcare trust. Reports suggest that the IPO, which is being handled by JP Morgan, could encompass approximately 16% of Chrysler stock, initially valued at approximately $100 million.
Lest you think this is all part of Sergio Marchionne's grand plan to consolidate Chrysler and Fiat, the two auto groups over which he presides, think again. The filing, which still needs to be approved by the SEC, comes at the insistence of the UAW. Negotiations between Marchionne's management team and the union over Fiat's acquisition of the VEBA shares have stalled. If they manage to come to an agreement, however, the IPO would likely be taken off the table. So don't go calling your broker just yet, but you can analyze the official announcement below.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles recalls nearly 750k vehicles in two campaigns

Thu, 16 Oct 2014

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles is recalling a total of 747,817 vehicles in the US in two separate campaigns recently added to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration database.
The first one covers about 434,581 units of the Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger, Challenger, Durango, and Jeep Grand Cherokee from the 2011-2014 model years with electric hydraulic power steering, the 3.6-liter V6 engine and a 160 amp alternator, according to FCA. In the affected vehicles, it's possible for the alternator to fail without warning and possibly cause the car to stall. According to the documentation submitted to NHTSA, the automaker began investigating the problem in August 2014 and has found possible evidence of one crash caused by the failures but no known injuries.
Customers will begin receiving notification about the recall next month, and obviously the repairs will be done at no cost to them.
