Up for sale is a 1998 Chevy 3500 crew cab long box with the 6.5L Detroit diesel in it. It has cloth interior with no rips in the seats. Sliding rear window and a sunroof. The sunroof does not leak any water but is currently not working. Has a spray in bed liner. 3in lift/leveling kit. Two brand new 1050cca batteries. The motor was redone at 217,000 miles. New torque converter and transmission 1,000 miles ago. New brakes on all four tires. Two tires need to be replaced but the truck will come with two to replace them. All new U-joints, front CV axle, hanger bearing, steering idler arms. It has a class V receiver hitch on it. Also have a set of stainless steel nerf bars not pictured that go with it as well. Overall its a very clean truck with minor scratches and very little rust. I reserve the right to end the auction early as I have the truck for sale locally as well. I require a $500 non refundable down payment within 24hrs of the end of the auction and the remaining balance within three days in cash. I can not ship this so it must be picked up in person. Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.

GM recalls Chevy Express, GMC Savana over rollaway concern

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has issued a recall notice for a small number of General Motors fullsize vans due to possible rollaway concerns. On certain 2013 Chevrolet Express and 2013 GMC Savana models, it is possible to remove the key from the ignition without the shifter being in park.
Only 980 total units are being affected by this recall, and GM is fixing the issue by replacing the ignition cylinder and associated keys. Affected Chevy vans were built during most of November and December while its GMC counterpart was only built for a week in November. The recall goes into effect on January 23, and to find out if your vehicle applies to the recall, the GM and NHTSA contact numbers can be found on the official recall notice, which is posted below.
