Up for auction is a 1983 Chevrolet K-10 Silverado 4X4 pickup truck.  This Silverado originally came from Utah and has been in North Carolina for several years.  This Silverado was repainted sometime in it's past and does have a few chips, dings and the clear coat is peeling in a spot or two but this Silverado looks great from any angle.  There are a couple rust bubble spots on each cab corner but the bed looks good especially inside where the bed sides and the bed floor are rust free.  This truck is in much better shape than most east coast trucks!  This Silverado is equipped with a 350 small block V-8 engine that replaced the original 305 powerplant.  The 350 has a new Holley Dominator aluminum intake mated with a new Holley 650 CFM four barrel carburetor equipped with an electric choke.  There is also a new electronic distributor.  This Silverado has a completely new dual exhaust system including chrome plated headers.  While we were replacing the exhaust we also replaced both the left and right front inner fenders just to clean up the under the hood appearance.  The overdrive automatic transmission has all four gears but seems to shift a bit slow.  This could be due to the downshift cable not adjusted properly after the new intake and carburetor were installed.  One technician told me that I do not have the correct mounting brackets installed on the Holley for that downshift cable.  The four wheel drive works perfectly!  This Silverado also has a brand new radiator and coolant.  The air conditioning system needs some R-12 installed as the compressor cycles too quickly and cools very little.  The interior has been restored and looks excellent!  New carpet, new seat, new dash pad, new headliner and new lower door panels.  It also has a NOS dash bezel, NOS right and left door panel trim, NOS door pull handles with screw covers.  Factory AM-FM Stereo Cassette that works with both factory front and rear speakers.  I am being critical on this Silverado as I am trying to show any and all items.  It's a great looking, running truck and if you are a fan of the 81 through 87 GM truck this one is a winner and one you could be proud to own.  I bought this truck to create my own everyday driver but I am now forced to sell.  My reserve is quite low considering how much work has already been done to this Silverado but I will not disclose the reserve also I will not end the auction early.  Please be serious about buying this truck.  If you have less than a +5 feedback rating you MUST email me before bidding on this Silverado or I reserve the right to reject your bid.  I also require a $500 nonrefundable deposit within 24 hours of purchase.  Full payment and pickup must be made within 7 days of end of sale.  I can store for a short period of time but only as long as full payment is received.

Thanks for viewing my auction and as always, although I have tried to be overly critical in regards to this truck, please email me with any questions you have and I will send you my phone number so we can talk.  I have tried to show everything I know about this Silverado but it is a used truck and will b sold as-is.

Helicopter crashes on Top Gear Korea set while chasing Corvette ZR1

Mon, 11 Feb 2013

The formula of Top Gear Korea is seemingly about the same as it is everywhere else in the world, including the flagship British original: involve interesting cars in fantastical situations with charismatic hosts. That prescription has proved to be pretty reliable over the years, and has lead to some truly memorable and exciting pieces of television.
Something like that was undoubtedly what the Korean producers were after when they lined up this segment - a drag race between a Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 and an AH1 Cobra military helicopter. The planners almost certainly did not expect the filming of the segment to go quite as wrong as it actually did, with the helicopter actually crashing into the dirt after the "drag race" had been completed. Thankfully, we're told that no one was seriously injured in the crash, but the footage, in the video below, is pretty damn chilling to watch, nevertheless.

Chevy monitors drivers' biometrics while experiencing new Corvette Stingray

Fri, 25 Oct 2013

We tell you about what a car is like to drive every day, remarking on throttle response, steering weight and feedback, squat, dive, brake fade and a dozen or more other factors of performance. What we can't tell you, though, is what the car does to us - how its performance impacts us, physically. That's what makes this video series from Chevrolet so darn cool.
The Bow-Tie brand rented out Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch, got several (very) different individuals together, strapped a bunch of sensors to their bodies to record biometric data ranging from heart rate to respiration to brain activity, and then handed them keys to the new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The results are explained in a series of videos, devoted to each driver, showing how different people react to the Corvette's performance.
If, like your author, you're a nerd for medical science, this is going to be a fascinating set of videos. If not, it's still pretty cool to see how the body of someone with racing experience, like Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi, reacts to tracking a car like the Corvette Stingray compared to the owner of legendary Detroit barbecue joint, Slows BBQ. Take a look below for all six videos from the series, or hop over to the Corvette Vimeo channel for the interactive experience, where you can see all the different metrics.

Watch how Corvette Racing's new collision-avoidance radar system works

Fri, 22 Mar 2013

When it comes to technology used in racecars, we generally expect it to trickle down to production cars, not the other way around. Well, Pratt & Miller has developed a new rear-facing radar that operates in a similar fashion to what we're used to in modern blind spot detection systems, only it is also capable of tracking cars as they approach and relaying vital information to the driver via a large display screen.
The innovative radar system debuted at last weekend's 12 Hours of Sebring for Corvette Racing, and this system makes perfect sense for endurance races like this since the cars sometimes have to drive through the night and in poor weather conditions.
The radar can detect cars even with poor visibility, and uses easy-to-distinguish symbols for the driver to identify.
