Im putting my 63 nova up for sale. this car is completely re done. every nut and bolt was replaced. I started with a very original rust free body still had the original laurel green paint. every body panel is original sheet metal including trunk pan and floor boards. all the trim was removed and holes welded up the body went through a 6 month body work process before it was painted. the color is called black sapphire off a 05 Bentley. in the sun there is a blue pearl that shows up. very rich color. very deep. the car was painted about 2 years ago with a base coat clear coat. during the body work process I had all the stainless trim re polished and all dents removed. the cove moldings are all new. new head light bezels. halogen headlights, original grill in very good shape. the fire wall was worked too. smoothed it out and painted body color. I installed a heidts pro-g front clip. frame is painted gloss black. the inner fender wells were also smoothed out and painted body color. double adjustable qa1 coil overs in the front with wilwood   disc brakes. the rear suspension is a heidts 4 link, also with qa1 double adjustable coil overs. full length sub frame connectors with adjustable trans cross member. front and rear sway bars. gm disc brakes in the rear. 4.11 ratio with a posi unit, on highway 80 mph in 6th gear its doing 2k rpms. 17x8 centerline rims up front and 18x8 centerlines in the rear.  the interior is all redone, new factory reproduction seat cover, reproduction door panels fromt and rear, reproduction rear armrests and pads, needs fronts still. front seats are 8 way power seats with lumbar out of a 03 jaguar, black leather, new black headliner and visors 1 small rip in the headliner in the back pass side about 3/4 of an inch long not sure how it got there, new visor brackets, new rear view mirror bracket,  the carpet is temporary and should be replaced. the engine is a ls1 and T56 removed from a 2002 Camaro ss. I put a ls6 valley pan with internal pcv system, also has an ls6 intake. corvette coil covers, doug's ceramic coated ls headers. 2 1/2 " aluminized exhaust with super 44 series flowmasters dumping out just behind the rear wheels. I had a custom engine wiring harness built by tech rods, a computer was from spare ecm. the computer is mounted under the dash behind the instrument cluster.  msd external fuel pump, new 3/8 stainless steel fuel line, The whole car was rewired from headlight to tail light with a new ez wire kit with the mini blade style fuses. Detroit speed 7 speed wiper motor mounted under the dash,  Dakota digital vhx gauges with the obd2 port reader so its pulling all info off the stock senders. im sure theres stuff im forgetting but feel free to ask any questions.   I also have a folder about 3" thick of all the paperwork and receipts. the car has a clean title and is current on registration. I would rate the paint job an 8.75-9 its not perfect is a little over 2 years old the car is driven. Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check

Fri, 01 Mar 2013

Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir. See for yourself in our image gallery above.

2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra introduced

Pics Aplenty: Meet the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra [w/poll]

Thu, 13 Dec 2012

Today was a pretty big day for General Motors, debuting the all-new Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra light-duty pickup trucks ahead of their official showcase at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. And now that the dust has settled at GM's big reveal event, we've had a chance to snap dozens of photos of the new pickup pair from every angle.
We already told you the important bits earlier today (click here in case you missed it), but let's recap. Under the hood are three new engines - a 4.3-liter V6, 5.3-liter V8 and 6.2-liter V8 (you know, a version of the small-block that'll also be found under the hood of the C7 Corvette), all mated to six-speed automatic transmissions. The 2014 model year marks the return of the Z71 off-road package with Rancho shocks, front tow hooks and beefier underbody protection. Inside, there's a host of new technology and a greater focus on better quality and refinement.
Some of the nitty-gritty specifics (like engine output numbers and fuel economy) have yet to be revealed, and since we haven't driven the finished products yet, it's hard to say how these trucks will fare against rivals like the Ram 1500 and Ford F-150. For now, we can only judge these two books by their covers, and while we do like the designs of the new trucks, we Autoblog staffers are torn on exactly which one looks best.
