Beautiful 1978 Champagne Gold Monte Carlo. Great sound and powerful engine. A bad-ass 78 Monte Carlo (yeah, amazing!) 3 stage exterior paint. New radiator. New dashboard metrics. New CD stereo. New interior upholstery. Custom steering wheel. True spokes wire wheels. Tires 225x40x18. Has AC, not hooked up. Alarm. Wa tags/ title. Mileage is an estimate due to newer dashboard metrics. Engine specs: rebuilt 350 6/ 2014, new crank shaft, block bore 030" oversize, RVI Torquer Cam, Roller Rocker, Holley High Rise intake, Holley carburetor 650, powder-coated headers. 118,000 miles is an estimate. Paint job has a few blemishes, but is a 7.5 out of 10. No rust. Underside is in great shape. Missing some trim on sides, but some say it looks better without. Drives great. A real looker. If this was a 1970 or even 1975 in this shape, the price would be much higher. I think we all know that. You wish it was a 1970, I wish it was a 1970, my friend does, and about 500 classic car enthusiasts wish it was too. But it isn't. What you get is a very solid, cool, unique car at a great price. My friend ended up putting too much money into a car he thought he could take to California, but the emissions standards there are not kind to post 1975 cars. This is a very fair price and the car is sold AS IS. I am selling locally in Portland, OR and reserve the right to end this auction at any time if it is sold locally. |

Was the C7 Corvette cut from Beyonce's Super Bowl halftime show?
Tue, 05 Feb 2013Someone was bound to receive a free 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray during the Super Bowl XLVII festivities; it just wasn't who we thought it was going to be. Despite a report back in December that superstar Beyoncé Knowles would be getting an all-new Corvette during her halftime performance, that turned out not to be the case. Joe Flacco, starting quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, did in fact win a Corvette for his MVP performance.
So what transpired that prevented Beyoncé from rolling on stage in the new Chevrolet? Anyone who knows isn't telling, but according to Yahoo! Autos, General Motors said that for one reason or another a deal "did not work out," and it appears to have been an eleventh-hour change. Regardless of who's to blame or what prevented this from happening, we're sure Chevy has had no problems getting attention for the C7 Corvette since it was introduced last month.
Read This: Auto Extremist advocates for Corvette as brand with multiple models [w/poll]
Fri, 25 Jan 2013The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette really grinds Peter De Lorenzo's gears. Or, more accurately, the self-anointed Auto Extremist has an issue with what he sees as mismanagement of the legendary sports car by General Motors executives. In a new editorial on his website, De Lorenzo argues it's time to split Corvette off from Chevrolet to create an all-new brand, complete with a model range with at least three new takes on the sports car. Capable of fully leveraging the successes of the Corvette Racing program and brandishing the full might of GM's technical prowess, the Corvette brand would theoretically give Porsche something to sweat over.
Sure, that sounds like a party, but given GM's troubled track record when it comes to launching (let alone managing) brands, we say that's slippery slope that could just as easily end with the whole Corvette franchise in the scrap bin. Either way, the notion is certainly an interesting one. Head over to Auto Extremist to take in the full editorial, and then let us know what you think in Comments. Should GM split off its most storied nameplate?

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit
Mon, 20 Jun 2011Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.
