I am selling my grandfather's late-2009 Chevy Cobalt which is in near mint condition. The car was driven by him rarely, and he decided not to renew his driver's license so he sold it to me a few months ago. There are no defects, dings, or scratches on it, with the exception that one of the tires looks like it has a small exterior perforation due to I think him trying to parallel park it once. It is very low mileage and is in really great shape. If you are in the area and want to come by to look at it or if you want to get it inspected please feel free to contact me to arrange this. I live in the Rockville, Maryland area.

I think it came with a 3-year/36,000 mile warranty which has been exceeded now because it is a 2009 model car. However, I think it also has a 5-year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty which is still in effect.

While it was parked in front of my apartment a few months ago, someone scraped the driver's side door a little. However, they left a note and their insurance covered the repairs fully. I think that the one of the panels was replaced because it was impossible to buff the scratches out. However, this was done by a professional auto body shop, there was no structural damage according to the insurance company's inspector, and there would be no way to notice it by looking at the car.

Other than this, I think the car is in mint condition. The only reason I am getting rid of it is because I have no use for it.

Note that the car has Illinois registration. This is because that's where my grandfather lives. I have the title in my own name and there is no lien on it.

I am somewhat flexible in terms of payment and the buyer must pick up the car or pay for shipping.

Please feel free to contact me with questions if you are interested. I can take more pictures if you want. However, there are no scratches.

Thanks and happy bidding!

Fewer than 1 in 3 Chevy dealers earn right to initially sell C7 Corvette

Mon, 01 Apr 2013

Looking to make the launch of the 2014 Corvette Stingray as efficient as possible, Chevrolet will be limiting the numbers of its dealers that can sell the all-new coupe and convertible. According to Automotive News, sales of the C7 Corvette will initially be limited to less than a third of Chevy's total dealership network when the 'Vette goes on sale this summer.
Only 900 dealers out of more than 3,000 locations nationwide will be allowed to sell the new Corvette at first, and the reason for this is so that there are no shortages at dealers that can actually get the cars sold. The article says that the 900 dealerships chosen represented 80 percent of total Corvette sales in 2012.
Some of the requirements dealers had to make to get initial allocation of Stingray sales include having sold at least four Corvettes in 2012 and having a Corvette Stingray specialist who will be required to have gone through a training session costing more than $2,000 per attendee. Once demand for the 2014 Corvette Stingray begins to subside - approximately six to nine months after it goes on sale - then allocation could open up to more dealers, but the report indicates this could happen following the 2014 model year.

Read This: Auto Extremist advocates for Corvette as brand with multiple models [w/poll]

Fri, 25 Jan 2013

The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette really grinds Peter De Lorenzo's gears. Or, more accurately, the self-anointed Auto Extremist has an issue with what he sees as mismanagement of the legendary sports car by General Motors executives. In a new editorial on his website, De Lorenzo argues it's time to split Corvette off from Chevrolet to create an all-new brand, complete with a model range with at least three new takes on the sports car. Capable of fully leveraging the successes of the Corvette Racing program and brandishing the full might of GM's technical prowess, the Corvette brand would theoretically give Porsche something to sweat over.
Sure, that sounds like a party, but given GM's troubled track record when it comes to launching (let alone managing) brands, we say that's slippery slope that could just as easily end with the whole Corvette franchise in the scrap bin. Either way, the notion is certainly an interesting one. Head over to Auto Extremist to take in the full editorial, and then let us know what you think in Comments. Should GM split off its most storied nameplate?

Joe Flacco wins C7 Corvette along with MVP honors

Mon, 04 Feb 2013

As part of a longstanding tradition, the MVP of Super Bowl XLVII, Joe Flacco, quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, was given a new car directly after the game and trophy celebrations. For 2013, that car is a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, and it was presented to Flacco by Rick Flick of Banner Chevrolet, a dealership in New Orleans that was wiped out by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 before returning to prominence as the only Chevy dealer in Orleans Parish.
Last year, Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning took home a 2012 Corvette GS Centennial Edition. Manning also won in 2008, when he selected a Cadillac Escalade Hybrid as his reward. In 2011, quarterback Aaron Rodgers accepted the keys to a Camaro convertible.
Though we're most definitely an auto-obsessed group, we did watch the Big Game along with nearly everyone else in America. And we've gotta say, as if winning the Super Bowl and receiving the Tiffany-designed Pete Rozelle Trophy wasn't enough for the multi-millionaire MVP athletes, a brand-new C7 seems like an awfully generous prize.
