1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS Pro Touring Coupe

This Pro Touring Camaro RS/SS was Professionally Built and has very few miles since its restoration. The goal of the build was to create a car with modern performance and classic retro styling that could be driven and enjoyed. The modern drivetrain starts with a built LT1 motor fully dressed out in chrome and sitting in a beautifully smoothed and gleaming engine compartment. The LT1 motor comes loaded with Top of the Line performance parts including a head and nitrous cam package, Holley hi performance EFI fuel pump, street and performance chrome pulley set. 52mm throttle body, MSD coil and wires, hi performance aluminum radiator and hi torque mini starter. The transmission is an electronic 4L60E automatic with a Conan performance torque converter and the power is put to the pavement thru a 12 bolt posi-traction rear end with 3.73 gears. The car handles great with front lowered coil overs, performance sway bars front and rear, lowering blocks and rear leaf springs, power steering and slotted and cross drilled rotors on all four corners. The car also has a stainless steel gas tank, chrome 1 wire alternator, chrome hoses, chrome Coy 18" and 20" Staggered Wheel stance, headers, complete 40 Series Flowmaster Exhaust system, Painless wiring harness and trunk mounted battery with Hella master switch. New cowl hood, new grille with hideaway headlights, custom mirrors and Marquez design lights front and rear. Read This: Auto Extremist advocates for Corvette as brand with multiple models [w/poll]

Fri, 25 Jan 2013

The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette really grinds Peter De Lorenzo's gears. Or, more accurately, the self-anointed Auto Extremist has an issue with what he sees as mismanagement of the legendary sports car by General Motors executives. In a new editorial on his website, De Lorenzo argues it's time to split Corvette off from Chevrolet to create an all-new brand, complete with a model range with at least three new takes on the sports car. Capable of fully leveraging the successes of the Corvette Racing program and brandishing the full might of GM's technical prowess, the Corvette brand would theoretically give Porsche something to sweat over.
Sure, that sounds like a party, but given GM's troubled track record when it comes to launching (let alone managing) brands, we say that's slippery slope that could just as easily end with the whole Corvette franchise in the scrap bin. Either way, the notion is certainly an interesting one. Head over to Auto Extremist to take in the full editorial, and then let us know what you think in Comments. Should GM split off its most storied nameplate?

Amelia Island 2013: Chevrolet Corvette Sting Ray from concepts to split windows

Wed, 13 Mar 2013

While this year marks 60 years of the Chevrolet Corvette, the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance focused on one of the coupe's most sought after models, the 1963 Sting Ray. General Motors design boss Ed Welburn was on hand to show off the all-new C7 Corvette, but even the hard-edged styling of the 2014 Stingray couldn't take away from the beautiful 1963 models sitting out on the field.
In addition to the original Sting Ray and the 1959 Sting Ray Concept, some of the other classic 'Vettes included "Big Tank" racecars, an interesting cutaway coupe, a right-hand-drive Z06 and the attention-grabbing 1963 Corvette Rondine by Pininfarina. Another impressive Corvette was the 1964 Corvette XP-819 rear-engine prototype. Owner Mike Yager had the car finished as a driving chassis for this year's show, but promises the car will be back to its original glory in time for next year's event.

Chevy Corvette Stingray picks up another award, this time from Automobile

Mon, 18 Nov 2013

The new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray has picked up another buff book accolade after capturing Road and Track's Performance Car of the Year award. The seventh-generation of America's sports car (sorry Viper, Mustang, et al.) has been named Automobile Magazine's Automobile of the Year.
Automobile's award to the Corvette over competitors is the mirror image of its rival Motor Trend, which named the Cadillac CTS its car of the year over the C7. The CTS was, according to the Automobile team, the closest contender to the mighty Stingray. Great news all around for General Motors it seems.
As for what pushed the Corvette past its distant, four-door cousin, Automobile commended its excellent, 6.2-liter V8 calling the car's performance "simply awesome" while also remarking that it is easier to drive fast than ever before thanks to steering and chassis tweaks. Following a theme set by other publications, there were also plaudits for the interior, of all things, with the buff book complimenting the car's ergonomics and material quality, while also praising the standard seats.
