You are viewing an original, 1967 convertible Camaro with the rally sport package. It has the numbers-matching 327/210hp engine, mated to a Powerglide transmission. It's a great driver, start right up and runs great. It really just needs new paint to complete it.

I purchased the car in August, 1999 from a private owner in Orlando, Florida, where I lived at the time. I drove this car nearly every day to my job in Florida, which was just 2 miles from my home. I also drove it for pleasure and occasional cruise nights. In 2005, I moved to New Jersey, and the car has been garage kept and only driven a few times a summer since.

Immediately after buying the car, I had the engine completely rebuilt. I have put about 19,000 miles on the rebuilt engine since then. In the following years, I replaced or upgraded numerous parts in the engine bay as well as the interior and exterior. This included a new power convertible top as well as the related top and hydraulics. I kept virtually every receipt for parts ordered and work done on the car and can provide them to the buyer.

I made several upgrades to improve drivability and comfort, but always with an eye toward maintaining the stock appearance, while also keeping all original parts so that it could be returned to stock. I had a Vintage Air conditioning system professionally installed, along with original-style vents in the dash to maintain the stock appearance. The wheels are now 16-inch chrome by Wheel Vintiques, with the original style dog-dish caps for 1967. I added an Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor and intake manifold, Hedman headers, and a custom dual exhaust system with Dynomax mufflers (not too loud, just a nice, throaty rumble). In addition the car was lowered 2-inches with a thicker sway bar when the front-end was rebuilt.

As I said, I still have the original intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, 2-barrel carb, and snorkel air intake, which will be given to the winner of this auction. Also included is the convertible top boot (fits over the top when it is down), as well as a custom-fitted car cover, and the owners manual. The car is column shifted. The person I purchased this car from had plans to convert it to floor shifted and gave me an original console. I will pass this along to the next owner as well.

This is a great car that gets a lot of compliments. Except for the windshield wiper fluid pump, which I could never get to function right, everything on this car works, including the electric hideaway headlights. It does have some faults, mainly with the paint and body: There are spots caused by bubbling on the hood (see picture) and some dings and scratches, and paint fading on the trunk lid. I can tell there is body putty on the rear fenders and between the convertible top window and trunk lid. The front header panel has a dent in the nose: I have a replacement panel to be included with the sale.

There are tears on the driver side seat (see picture) and what looks to be the impression of a belt buckle on that same seat. The transmission has had a slight leak since the day I owned the car; every few months I add a quart of fluid. The drive selector on the column sometimes slips from D to L at stop lights. This started with the addition of the headers, which are up against a bracket that holds the transmission linkage. I believe when the linkage heats up it slips downward. The bracket will either need to be relocated or the headers removed to correct the problem. When the problem does occur, I simply push the shifter back to D and away I go. It does not happen on every drive, but I want to be honest.

I love this car, but with two small children I simply do not have the time for it anymore. Like I said it's a great car, and will provide hours of top-down fun to anyone who buys it. Thank you for considering it.

On Jul-31-13 at 12:48:20 PDT, seller added the following information:

I want to make a clarification of my use of the phrase "numbers matching" to describe the engine. In 1967, the lower horsepower engines such as this one did not get a partial VIN code stamped on the block, so the numbers must be "matched" by date. My engine stamping indicates that it was manufactured in the fourth week of December (I'm assuming of 1966). Likewise, the cowl tag says the body was manufactured on December 22 (also, I'm assuming, of '66). So that is as close to a match as possible for this engine and car. I'm sure many Chevy and Camaro experts already know this, but I want to avoid any confusion or concern with the auction winner. Thanks.

GM takes heat for aborted Silverado riff on 'Boston Strong' at World Series

Thu, 31 Oct 2013

During game five of the World Series, Chevrolet was set to do a spot of marketing for the 2014 Silverado - fans at Busch Stadium in St. Louis would hold up placards that spelled out the words "Silverado Strong," a theme that Chevy has been promoting since the Silverado's launch with the song "Strong," by Will Hoge. The St. Louis promo was ultimately called off, though, over concerns that it'd be insensitive to the visiting Boston Red Sox. (You can see the image of what the stunt would have looked like above, courtesy of one timely Reddit user.)
Now, the Busch Stadium stunt might not have been a big deal, had the St. Louis Cardinals not been playing the Boston Red Sox. Following the tragic events in Boston during the marathon back in April, the phrase "Boston Strong" gained traction among the city's citizens, especially at sporting events. So, you can imagine that Chevy's appropriation of the phrase might not sit well with some fans.
The stunt was ultimately shelved after images of the signs went viral before the game, leading to a bit of a public backlash. Chevy spokesperson Michael Albano said of the promo that it was meant to show the brand's "commitment to baseball and its fans." But after the images went viral, the company "realized there was the possibility that we may offend some of the very fans we were trying to honor," Albano told Automotive News via email.

Pure Vision Design TT Camaro has 1,400 reasons to want it

Wed, 06 Nov 2013

We've talked about Pure Vision Design before, a California-based company that made waves at last year's SEMA show with its Martini-liveried, Indy-car-powered Ford Mustang. That same car later starred in a Petrolicious video we showed you just a few weeks back. The company's latest creation is a menacing car it calls the Pure Vision Design TT Camaro. Based on a 1972 model, this car shares the Martini Mustang's clean styling and obsession with details.
Unlike the Mustang, which draws its power from a mid-60s Lotus-Ford Indycar engine, the "TT" in this Camaro's name implies something far more potent. The Nelson Racing Engines 427-cubic-inch V8 has been fitted with a pair of turbochargers, with a claimed output of 1,400 horsepower. That's almost 1,000 more than the Martini Mustang.
A six-speed Magnum transmission dispatches that power to the ground, while Pirelli PZero tires are tasked with (somehow) trying to grip the road. Baer brakes hide behind those HRE rims, while JRI coilovers and HyperTech springs bless the Camaro with some degree of competency in the bends.
