1981 chevy c10 custom deluxe.mild restoration. Exterior This truck was repainted about a month ago. nice metallic blue and the clear has been sanded and buffed as well so it looks very nice and shiny. The front bumper has been painted to match the body New Phantom grill New 2 in cowlhood New windshield with new gasket and rubbers Mirrors have been painted to match the body as well New window weaterstripping New door and lock gaskets 16 in chrome rims with Cooper Cobra Radial GT tires with about 75% tread Rear bumper was replaced with a roll pan that was molded to the body for a clean look All exterior lights work Passenger side talight has a few minor cracks The body is sitting 10 in off the ground Fender wells have been repainted with undercoating Inside of the bed has been painted to match the body Interior Every piece of the interior has been refurbished The dash has a plastic cover over it Has custom trim pieces and black accent pieces Steering wheel was wrapped with real leather All of the gauges work Light dimmer works wippers work windows roll up and down nicely doors open and close nicely factory ac blows cold and air controls work nice kenwoodcd player stereo with usb connection,aux connection and a remote speakers under the dash have been replaced front little windows do not open seat is in good condition with no tears dynamat on the floor under the carpet 2 6 x9 pioneer speakers with individual boxes behind the seats along with a 12 in Dual subwoofer with a 400 watt Dual amp sounds great Rear sliding glass Mechanical 5.0 V8 (307)with a 2 barrel holleyl carbureatour runs strong with rebuilt transmission Brake pads good on the front and back 12 bolt rear differential Just replaced the water pump with a new one Replaced spark plugs and wires Replaced distributor and control module Replaced ac delco alternator Replaced steering box with custom heavy duty power steering lines Replaced ac compressor and hoses Upgraded Headers Chrome valve covers Brakes were recently serviced New gas tank and fuel lines Clean engine bay and has been painted matte black Has aftermarket muffler with a great sound This eye catching daily driver with many new parts. Very reliable and clean. Runs and drives great. Sounds good. Has been lowered 3.5 in in the front and 6 in in the back. Odometer shows 47000.clean Texas title in hand and in my name. Feds open investigation into Chevy Express, Ford Freestar rust issues
Wed, 28 Dec 2011'Tis the season... for road salt. And with that, comes rust. And what does rust bring? Well, for Ford and General Motors, a National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigation. According to The Detroit News, NHTSA is looking into potential recalls issues with Chevrolet Express vans and Ford Freestar minivans.
The feds have received five complaints that rust has caused leaking fuel filler pipes on 2003 Express vans. Separately, seven complaints have been filed over excessive rust in the rear wheel wells of 2004 Ford Freestar and Mercury Monterey minivans. The Freestar and Monterey went out of production in 2007. Neither issue has resulted in any crashes or injuries, according to the report.
Experimental mid-engine XP-819 Corvette going up for auction
Sun, 17 Feb 2013It seems to be commonplace that when a new Corvette is in development, rumors swirl about a possible mid-engine layout. As is the case of Chevy's most recent C7 Corvette, these rumors never pan out.
In any case, the idea for a 'Vette with an engine mounted behind the driver can probably all be traced back to a single car, the 1964 XP-819 prototype. Built as an "engineering exercise" back in 1964, the prototype was designed with a rear-mounted engine. History tells us that the idea of a rear-engine Corvette fizzled, and the XP-819 was eventually cut up into pieces and stored at a shop in Daytona Beach, FL.
After sitting for untold years, a restoration project started on the car, and while it isn't yet fully completed, the current owner of the car, Mid America Motorworks, will have the car on display at the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance as a "driveable chassis" with hopes of having a fully completed car ready to bring to next year's show.
GM takes heat for aborted Silverado riff on 'Boston Strong' at World Series
Thu, 31 Oct 2013During game five of the World Series, Chevrolet was set to do a spot of marketing for the 2014 Silverado - fans at Busch Stadium in St. Louis would hold up placards that spelled out the words "Silverado Strong," a theme that Chevy has been promoting since the Silverado's launch with the song "Strong," by Will Hoge. The St. Louis promo was ultimately called off, though, over concerns that it'd be insensitive to the visiting Boston Red Sox. (You can see the image of what the stunt would have looked like above, courtesy of one timely Reddit user.)
Now, the Busch Stadium stunt might not have been a big deal, had the St. Louis Cardinals not been playing the Boston Red Sox. Following the tragic events in Boston during the marathon back in April, the phrase "Boston Strong" gained traction among the city's citizens, especially at sporting events. So, you can imagine that Chevy's appropriation of the phrase might not sit well with some fans.
The stunt was ultimately shelved after images of the signs went viral before the game, leading to a bit of a public backlash. Chevy spokesperson Michael Albano said of the promo that it was meant to show the brand's "commitment to baseball and its fans." But after the images went viral, the company "realized there was the possibility that we may offend some of the very fans we were trying to honor," Albano told Automotive News via email.
