THIS IS A VERY COOL, RUST FREE, SOUTHERN TRUCK. THIS TRUCK WAS BROUGHT HERE FROM OKLAHOMA APPROXIMATELY TWENTY YEARS AGO WITH A VHS TAPE TO DOCUMENT THE PURCHASE AND DRIVEN BACK HERE TO THE NORTH EAST. THEN THE PROJECT BEGAN, ACCUMULATING PARTS AND PIECES FOR THE PUZZLE. IT STARTED OUT AS A VERY CLEAN, ORIGINAL TRUCK. IT WAS TAKEN APART DOWN TO THE FRAME. IT NOW SPORTS ALL NEW BODY BUSHINGS, COMPLETE 5 LUG CONVERSION WITH POWER DISC BRAKES IN FRONT. THE ENGINE IS A TOTALLY REBUILT 327 WITH 3 DUECES THAT LOOKS LIKE IT CAME FROM THE FACTORY, RIGHT DOWN TO THE FUEL LINES AND VACUUM LINES. TRANSMISSION IS A FRESH TURBO 350 THAT SHIFTS PROPERLY. IT NOW HAS NEWER STYLE POWER STEERING BOX AND ALSO A TILT COLUMN. DRIVE TRAIN WAS PUT BACK IN CHASSIS AND THEN BODY WAS PUT BACK ON FRAME WITH ALL NEW MOUNTS AND BUSHINGS. THE BODY ON TRUCK IS IN UNBELIEVABLE SHAPE AND SUPER STRAIGHT WITH JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF PATINA THAT GIVES IT JUST THE RIGHT LOOK. TRUCK IS LOWERED WITH A 3-5 COIL SPRING KIT WHICH STILL RIDES AS IT SHOULD. TRUCK RUNS AND DRIVES VERY WELL, EVEN THE FAST IDLE WORKS ON THE TRI-POWER. 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible gives us a couple of looks

Sat, 02 Mar 2013

Put away your pixel paintbrushes, kids. Pack up your Photoshop. This is the real-deal 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Convertible in its first official images. The droptop Chevrolet will roll into the bright lights of the Palexpo exhibition at next week's Geneva Motor Show, a four-wheeled statement of intent that General Motors is serious about taking its Corvette franchise global.
Chevy isn't providing anything in the way of further details with these two shots, but we've learned at least a couple of things about the car shown here. First off, the example seen in these images is fitted with the optional Z51 Performance Package - something that isn't immediately evident because there's no sign of the coupe model's prominent ductwork on its rear haunches. In order to accommodate the power folding hard tonneau cover, the vents that feed the transmission and differential coolers have been relocated to the underside of the car. The dark paint color on this example also does a good job of muting the contrasting black front fender vents and hood opening - Z51-spec design details that have proven to be somewhat controversial.
One other thing to note: These two shots also display the Stingray wearing different alloy wheels than the split five-spoke design shown at the hardtop's Detroit Auto Show unveiling in January. The simpler, thin five-spoke wheels should do a good job of showing off the Z51's upgraded brakes, and they'll be optional on the coupe as well.

Lutz dishes dirt on GM in latest Autoline Detroit

Bob Lutz sits down for Autoline Detroit - Click above to watch video after the jump
Autoline Detroit recently played host to Bob Lutz, and, as is always the case, the former General Motors vice chairman dished out some great commentary. Lutz was promoting his new book Car Guys vs. Bean Counters: The Battle for the Soul of American Business, and talk quickly turned to his role as it related to product development and high-level decision making at GM. While on the topic of brand management, Lutz revealed a few rather interesting tidbits about his former employer:
All Chevrolet vehicles were required to have five-spoke aluminum wheels and a chrome band up front, as part of the Bowtie brand's overall image.

Race Recap: 2013 Twelve Hours of Sebring, cakewalk up front, grindfest out back [w/spoilers]

Tue, 19 Mar 2013

This year's 12 Hours of Sebring wasn't exactly a foregone conclusion because we're still talking about racing, and anything can happen when the speeds are as high as the adrenaline and the desire. But we're still talking about Audi bringing it's two top-spec racers - and its huge budget and its nearly neurotic attention to detail - to a race that it uses as a test bed for The 24 Hours of Le Mans and as a way to open the endurance racing season with a victory.
Besides, 12 hours is a long time, especially at Sebring, and things didn't go all Audi's way. On top of that, although it was a pretty quiet race, behind the Audis things got even grimier, with plenty of battles, plenty of mechanical issues, and the new BMW Z4 GTE and Viper GTS-R being race tested. Oh, and that brand new chromed-out DeltaWing...
