1960 Chevrolet Bel Air Belair Chevy Original Survivor Impala Un-restored on 2040-cars

Here is an absolutely incredible car!  This is a 1960 Chevrolet Bel Air 4 door sedan.  It has 103,000 original miles, but  in my opinion, it would actually pass for less than half that many!  This Original Survivor is an unbelievable time capsule!  I acquired it from the second owner, who had owned it nearly 50 years!  Car has always been pampered, garaged, and never driven in snow or ice.  All original body panels, floors, etc.  This is not rusted out or full of a bunch of bondo.  Body is nice and straight.   Clean and nice underneath too, not scaly or rusty like many you see.  Ready to drive or take to cruise ins or shows.  Like any used original car this age, there are a few minor nicks and dings, but this one still makes a super appearance.  In my opinion, it is much better than most original cars I  have seen from this era!

Very striking in red and white  with tri-tone gray and black deluxe cloth interior, this sharp Bel Air is equipped as follows:

1.   "Blue Flame" 6 Cylinder 235 cubic inch engine

2.  2 speed "Powerglide" automatic transmission.

3.  Deluxe push button AM radio (not working)

5.  Deluxe heater and defroster

6   Optional 2 tone paint

7.  Deluxe 2 speed wipers

This beautiful Chevy is an un-restored original Survivor and looks great!  Nice and shiny, not faded or oxidized.  Chrome  and bright work are also all original (NOT reproduction) and are bright and shiny.  This is one of the more original cars I have seen in awhile.  Still looks great under the hood and in the trunk!  Underside of car is also nice and clean.  The interior is really nice and all original.  No cracks or tears in door panels or arm rests.  Tri-tone upholstery on seats looks great!

As you would imagine, this car hits the road just fine  The engine and transmission are smooth with no issues that I can see.  Second owner had engine rebuilt and transmission serviced and re-sealed about 20,000 miles ago.   Only thing that doesn't work is AM radio.  Only other minor thing is that sometimes you have to "jiggle" the wiper switch to get them to come on.  Probably just dirty contacts.   I drove it on a 225 mile trip recently with no problems at all.  Handles and holds the road great!  Fun car to drive and gets lots of attention!

Car has 5 white wall radial tires with very good tread.   Brakes work well, and car drives and stops in a straight line.  Even the parking brake still works!  Only deviation from original that I see is that 2nd owner had an after-market muffler and chrome exhaust tip installed.  Rest of exhaust appears stock from what I can see.

This is one of the nicest, well cared for original late 50s to early 60s Chevrolets I have seen in quite awhile.  Yes, before you moan and groan that it is a 4 door, I wish it was a 2 door too!  However, I would much rather have a virgin, un-molested, honest 4 door than a thrown together 2 door for much more money that is full of rust and bondo!  Great car for Survivor class at car shows or vintage car tours.  Here is a great chance to get a 50s styled Chevy with big fins and lots of chrome that you can use right away and have fun at a very reasonable price!   Room for the whole family!  Remember, they are only original once!

NO RESERVE! NO RESERVE! NO RESERVE!

ABOUT ME:  I have been a collector and enthusiast of Postwar American cars for nearly 40 years!  I maintain a "rotating collection" of 6 to 10 such vehicles.  Sometimes I sell one out of the collection to make way for a new arrival.  I favor un-restored original "Survivor" cars from the late 1950s to mid 1970s.

GM recalls select Chevy Cruze, Sonic and Buick Verano models over airbag issue

Wed, 14 Nov 2012

General Motors is recalling certain 2012 Buick Verano, Chevrolet Cruze and Sonic models due to a defect in the driver's airbag system. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the airbag has a shorting bar which may contact two internal terminals. If that happens during a crash, the supplemental restraint may not deploy, increasing the risk of driver injury. The recall includes a total of 2,949 units.
GM will contact owners and replace the steering wheel airbag coil at no cost. At this point, it's unclear when the recall will begin, though owners may contact the automaker at 1-800-521-7300 for more information. You may also take a closer look at the full NHTSA notice below.

2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray convertible headed for Geneva debut

Mon, 28 Jan 2013

While most of the world is still coming down from all the hype surrounding the debut of the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this month, we're already looking to the future. And according to Autoweek, the next chapter in the C7 story will unfold at the Geneva Motor Show in March. That's right, General Motors is reportedly using the Swiss stage as its venue to debut the Corvette Stingray convertible.
If this strikes you as odd, you aren't alone. After all, with a car that's such an American icon, we'd fully expect Chevrolet to unveil it here on our shores in either Chicago or New York. But according to Autoweek, GM is looking to boost export sales of its halo car, and since the C7 was engineered to compete with the world's best and brightest, showing it off in Geneva is somewhat of a smart move. What's more, those with sharp memories will recall that GM used the Geneva expo to debut the sixth-generation C6 Corvette convertible back in March 2004, so there's also a precedent.
Details surrounding the Corvette Stingray convertible are still slim, though we fully expect the 6.2-liter V8 and choice of either six-speed automatic or seven-speed manual transmissions to carry over unchanged. Prototypes spotted on the road showed the car fitted with a cloth convertible roof, as well.

Corvette Stingray Convertible images mysteriously appear on web, so we add our own

Tue, 22 Jan 2013

It was inevitable that we'd see the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray topless at some point, but that didn't make us any less interested when a pair of supposedly leaked official images showed up on theautoinsiderblog.com last week. We posted them on our Facebook page, but held off reporting on them here until we could get a little more information.
Those images, which feature a dark red car on a sterile black studio background, supposedly first appeared on the website of diecast model maker Maisto. A Chevrolet spokesman has been reported saying that they are "not official images released by Chevrolet PR," which isn't a denial they're the real deal, but neither is it a confirmation.
Close examination of the photos suggest they could be official shots of the Corvette Stingray Convertible, and while some have doubted their authenticity due to a lack of vents (which were seen on the C7s that debuted in Detroit last week), it could be that the images are of a base model car without the Z51 package that doesn't require the extra venting and cooling.
