This auction is for a 1957 Chevy 4 door Bel Air. It is a good running, fun to drive car that is priced to sell. We traded for this car 3 years ago and it has been sitting in our warehouse until I got challenged to get it on eBay this week.. I am a retired dealer friend of Jim [chargerman6970] and I love the oldies. I also list his vehicles here on eBay.. I sent this car to the shop and they rebuilt the carb and the starter. They also tuned it up and added a hand choke. It already had a new alternator and a new battery.. Now it starts right up the first crank with no smoke or noises.. It has a good clutch and the old school 4 speed transmission works great.. This car does have a new 3.5 gal Moon Eyes aluminum gas tank in the trunk.. There is no original tank and the very bottom of the trunk [floor] is rusty [see pic # 22].. The Moon tank is mounted on a metal plate.. There is also some rust in the passenger floor areas.. The frame is solid and all of the body mounts are in good shape.[see pic # 23]. The spring hangers are free of rust and the inner quarter panel areas inside the trunk are in excellent condition [see pics]. This car has a different steering wheel but does have the original spare and jack.. It has a rare "radio delete plate" in the dash.. This car has new radials mounted on Corvette rallys wheels.. The trim rings and center caps are included in the auction.[ in the trunk]. I just thought the car looked good without them.. It has new seat covers but the headliner is original. The lower half of the car was painted somewhat recently [maybe 5 years ago] but the upper half of the car has not. Note the patina on the trunk.. This car is by no means a show winner but a fun, solid ride to your local cruise ins. I drove it to our local ice cream shop today.. The steering and brakes are good on this car but the speedometer does not work.. The wipers work and there is no radio. All of the doors, the hood and trunk all open and shut solidly but some of the door glass has cracks. The engine in this car has a chrome valve cover and a chrome air breather.. Next Corvette ZR1 to get 700 horsepower?
Tue, 19 Feb 2013Word has it General Motors may offer as much as 700 horsepower in the C7 Corvette ZR1. Motor Trend reports the next Corvette Z06 will continue to rely on its naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V8 engine for thrust, but the lump will deliver substantially more power. How much more? MT says the engine could deliver up to 600 ponies. That's a jump of 95 horsepower over the current Z06, though no figures have been finalized as of yet. Right now, GM is reportedly waiting to see what sort of grunt it can glean from the next ZR1.
The automaker has already made it clear it will resurrect the LT5 name for the new supercharged V8, and if GM is already pulling 600 from the Z06, the big dog ZR1 would theoretically offer 700 horsepower. Either way, the range-topping Corvette will be suitably insulated from its less potent siblings. Stay tuned. We aren't likely to see the Z06 for at least a year, with the ZR1 trailing along at some point there after.
2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray priced from $51,995*
Fri, 26 Apr 2013After months of speculation, Chevrolet has finally revealed the official starting price of the 2014 Corvette Stingray. The base MSRP for the 450-horsepower Stingray Coupe will be $51,995, while the Stingray Convertible will go for $56,995 (*both prices include a $995 destination fee). This means that the price increase from 2013 to 2014 is just $1,400 for the coupe and $2,395 for the convertible - pretty modest increases considering the upgrade in specifications. Of course, neither price accounts for the sort of dealer markup that might grace early C7 window stickers, especially since less than a third of all Chevrolet dealers will be allocated Corvette models to sell at the car's launch.
Now, these prices are for the base car, so if you're wondering how much a fully loaded Stingray will run, Chevy has given us a good indication of that as well. The coupe we saw on display at the Detroit Auto Show (shown above), for example, would run $73,360 including options such as the $2,800 Z51 Performance Package, $2,495 competition sport seats and the $1,795 Magnetic Ride Control option - just to name a few. Stepping up to the 3LT trim level that brings a full leather interior will run an extra $8,005 over the base price.
While $20,000 in options may seem like a lot, this "as-tested" price still has the C7 competitively priced against rival coupes like the Porsche 911 and Nissan GT-R. Speaking of price comparisons, Chevrolet also points out that the C7 Stingray Z51 costs $2,200 less than the C6 Grand Sport while delivering better acceleration (0-60 mph in less than four seconds) and improved track performance (including more than 1 g in cornering).
