I PURCHASED A CAR LIKE THIS ONE WHEN I GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL.  I BROUGHT HOME MY FIRST BABY IN 1959 IN THIS CAR.  BECAUSE THIS CAR IS SO SENTIMENTAL TO ME, I LOOKED FOR A LONG TIME, BEFORE I FOUND THIS ONE.  SHE IS IN 96% ORIGINAL CONDITION.  HER BUMPER HAS BEEN REPLACED, BUT WE ARE INCLUDING THE ORIGINAL BUMPER FOR YOU.  SHE PURRS LIKE A DREAM...AND STARTS RIGHT AWAY, EVEN THOUGH SHE HAS BEEN KEPT IN A GARAGE OR STORAGE UNIT.  THE COLD NORTHERN WEATHER HAS NOT AFFECTED HER AT ALL.
SHE ORIGINALLY BELONGED TO AN ELDERLY LADY, WHO UNFORTUNATELY, HARDLY EVER USED HER.  WHEN THE LADY PASSED, THIS WONDERFUL CAR BECAME HER SON'S CAR. BUT HE TOO, HARDLY EVER USED HER.  SHE WAS PURCHASED FROM THE SON BY A MAN FROM CHICAGO, AND I PURCHASED HER FROM THIS MAN.  I BECAME HER FOURTH OWNER.  I HAVE LOVED HER, BABIED HER AND HAD HER TAKEN WELL CARE OF MECANICALLY.  I HAVE ALL COPIES OF ANY MAINTENANCE THE MAN THAT OWNED HER BEFORE ME, TOOK CARE OF.  SHE HAS HER ORIGINAL PAINT JOB, I WAS TOLD, BUT SHE DOES HAVE A COUPLE OF DINY DINGS, WHICH I HAVE SHOWN YOU IN MY PICTURES.  SHE HAS HAD SEAT BELTS ADDED AND HER INTERIOR IS VERY GOOD.  UNFORTUNATELY, THE CARS OF THE 1950s WERE NOT EQUIPPED WITH POWER STEARING AND POWER BRAKES AND WINDOWS.  I AM ELDERLY NOW, AND HAVE INCURABLE LEUKEMIA.  I AM JUST NOT PHYSICALLY ABLE TO DRIVE HER ANYMORE.  IT BREAKS MY HEART TO SEND HER TO A NEW HOME....BUT IT IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO.  SHE HAS 40,998 ORIGINAL MILES.  YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED HER!!  SHE'S A BEAUTY!!

2015 Chevy Tahoe gets Police Patrol Vehicle treatment

Thu, 07 Nov 2013

That was fast. Mere days after showing a Police Concept based on the 2015 Tahoe at the SEMA Show, Chevrolet has announced that it will build a PPV model based on the SUV to do battle with the Ford Police Interceptor Utility (Explorer) and Dodge Durango Special Service.
You'll recall that the Tahoe has been police staple for several years, predating both the Explorer and Durango police variants, so the fact that the new model would spawn a police variant is hardly surprising. Like the civilian model, the 2015 PPV benefits from a more efficient 5.3-liter, direct-injection V8 that pumps out 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. It also features more high-strength steel, offering better crash protection, on top of optional safety items like lane departure warning, forward collision alert and a Safety Alert Seat.
The press release is rather light on police-specific items, aside from the auxiliary battery, which keeps the myriad of electronics in a modern police car running even when the engine isn't. Lightbars, 17-inch steel wheels on Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires and a push bar round out the mods for the Tahoe PPV. The cabin features a revised center console and room for laptop and other equipment mounts.

Next Corvette ZR1 to get 700 horsepower?

Tue, 19 Feb 2013

Word has it General Motors may offer as much as 700 horsepower in the C7 Corvette ZR1. Motor Trend reports the next Corvette Z06 will continue to rely on its naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V8 engine for thrust, but the lump will deliver substantially more power. How much more? MT says the engine could deliver up to 600 ponies. That's a jump of 95 horsepower over the current Z06, though no figures have been finalized as of yet. Right now, GM is reportedly waiting to see what sort of grunt it can glean from the next ZR1.
The automaker has already made it clear it will resurrect the LT5 name for the new supercharged V8, and if GM is already pulling 600 from the Z06, the big dog ZR1 would theoretically offer 700 horsepower. Either way, the range-topping Corvette will be suitably insulated from its less potent siblings. Stay tuned. We aren't likely to see the Z06 for at least a year, with the ZR1 trailing along at some point there after.

GM claims it's first to sell million 30+ mpg vehicles

Fri, 04 Jan 2013

As we continue to put together all the data for the year-end edition of By The Numbers, General Motors has announced that it sold more than a million vehicles in the US last year that achieved at least 30 miles per gallon on the highway. More impressively, GM managed this feat using multiple strategies including small vehicle size, turbocharged engines and hybrid or plug-in technologies across four brands (Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet and GMC) accounting for 13 separate models. This number will grow even more in 2013 thanks to cars like the all-electric Spark, the diesel Cruze, the range-extended Cadillac ELR and the Buick Encore compact CUV.
GM's small car sales were up 39 percent last year helping to attain this million-sales mark for 30-mpg models, and almost 40 percent of all GM sales consisted of cars with fuel-efficient I4 engines. In regards to more advanced means of improving fuel economy, GM says that it plans on having 500,000 vehicles with "some form of electrification" on the road by 2017.
