No single automotive design better characterizes the industry's late-1950s flamboyance than the 1959 Cadillac. Those spectacular rear fins remain symbolic of the automotive styling excesses of the Fabulous 'Fifties to this day! Here is a beautiful, partially restored and partially excellent original, 1959 Cadillac Fleetwood 75 9-passenger Limousine that has spent most, if not all of its life in sunny California! It has a rather striking color combination of Ebony Black and complimenting Chocolate Brown leather interior. It appears to have been well cared for and regularly serviced its entire life and has recently been subjected to a rather sharp and partial cosmetic and partial mechanical restoration. The frame and body are rock solid and there is no evidence of any prior accident history. One of only 710 production run of this model for 1959!

This classic Cadillac is finished in its original and very appealing color of Ebony Black with complimenting Brown interior! The body is very original and is absolutely as rock solid and rust free as you would expect a California car to be! In the interest of full disclosure, I did find a few tiny pin holes in one small spot of the floor pan, but this will in no way diminish the value of this otherwise rock solid original car! There is no apparent accident history and the frame is rock solid. The paint finish is shiny and while not perfect, is exceptionally sharp and consists of a combination of recent work as well as possibly even some original paint with just some age spots! In any case, it looks great as my photos show! The chrome and trim is almost totally original and in exceptional condition still! All the panels fit well and the gaps are factory original.

The interior is in exceptional condition and is for the most part new. The leather seats and door panels and headliner were done about 4 or 5 years ago and the carpeting was done recently. I?m not sure if the car was ordered this way or changed later, but the jump seats are more of a foot rest design with no back rest. Just sit in the back seat and put your feet up on the cushions and it's like sitting in your lazy-boy in your living room! Absolute comfort! The dash is original and while the pad has some slight distortion there are no cracks or fading and it looks great! The steering wheel is very nice and the horn ring is perfect! All the power windows work well as does the power seat. The power antenna even works well and the radio needs repair. The air conditioning has been serviced with all new hoses for the front and back AC systems and blows cold and appears to work as it should. I have never tried the cruise or autronic eye. The car was originally equipped with the air suspension ride control system but apparently only for the rear axle. All the components still seem to still be in place although the rear bags have been replaced with springs for more trouble free use.

This Iconic Cadillac runs and drives great and is an absolute pleasure to drive! The engine runs strong and smooth and the transmission shifts like it should. The dual exhaust is new as are the shocks. The tires are like new and the brakes stop on a dime! It should need nothing to make this a fun summertime driver!

GM CEO Akerson calls out Tesla, says Cadillac will compete on EVs

Cadillac will be taking on Tesla Motors, the underdog EV manufacturer that's seen heaps of critical acclaim and stock market buzz with its most recent sedan, the Model S. "If you want to compete head-to-head with Tesla, and we ultimately will, you want to do it with a Cadillac," Dan Akerson, the chairman and CEO of General Motors, told media in Washington, according to The Detroit News.
Akerson continued, telling The News, "We'll sell more Volts and lose less money on the Volts than they'll lose on the Model S." He also took time to point out that Tesla getting vehicles out to customers isn't a guarantee of success or permanence, using Fisker as an example, saying "Does anybody even remember Fisker? I mean, there were a number of them; they are all gone."
This strong talk from Akerson comes after Doug Parks, another GM exec, let slip that the Detroit-based manufacturer has an EV in the works that will cover 200 miles per charge and only cost about $30,000, a massive upgrade over similarly priced EVs that struggle to top 100 miles per charge. Until that vehicle arrives, though, GM is preparing the Cadillac ELR, a small coupe that, like the Volt with which it shares technology, uses a gas engine as a mobile generator to recharge the batteries. Akerson took aim at Tesla again, saying, "But I do think when the ELR comes out late this year, early next - it's certainly the same postal code as Tesla, but now we're going to move up. It's not going to be a mass-produced car."

Cadillac ATS-V Coupe caught undisguised ahead of LA reveal

Vsport versions of the CTS and XTS sedans are all well and good, but what Cadillac enthusiasts have really been looking forward to is the arrival of the next full-on V model. And here we have it.
Spied in the nude during an apparent photo shoot ahead of its anticipated debut at the fast-approaching Los Angeles Auto Show, the upcoming new Cadillac ATS-V Coupe is set to pick up where the old CTS-V left off, only in a more compact form. Unlike previous spy shots of heavily disguised prototypes, this final version is showing a chrome-framed mesh grille, along with a deep lower air dam with what looks to be a carbon-fiber front splitter. That bulging hood with heat extractor vents is tipped to be packing a twin-turbo V6 engine, breathing out of quad exhaust tips.
The aggressive aero kit also encompasses side skirts, a reshaped rear bumper and a lip spoiler on the truck, while the upgraded rolling stock wears serious low-profile rubber and the brakes appear to be carbon-ceramic units. Peer through the window and you can even see the sport bucket seats with slots for racing harnesses. All of which suggests a serious American challenger to the BMW M4 and its ilk, and we're looking forward to seeing the vehicle in the metal in LA next month.

SRX-replacing Cadillac XT5 spied for the very first time

Cadillac has got big plans in place to revitalize its lineup, with new sedans, coupes and crossovers. And it all starts with this, the replacement for the SRX.
Expected to be called XT5 in line with the brand's new naming scheme, the crossover will be based on a scalable new platform called C1XX - or Chi, for short. In its shorter form, Chi is anticipated to underpin the XT5 as well as a new Chevy crossover and the next-gen GMC Acadia. In long-wheelbase form, the platform is slated to give us a larger Cadillac crossover as well as a new Buick Enclave and Chevy Traverse.
Power in the XT5 will be provided by a choice of turbo four or atmospheric six, potentially to be transmitted through GM's new nine-speed automatic.
