This stunning Caddy Convertible has been the subject of a professional and gorgeous restoration. The body is beautiful and very straight with excellent fit on the doors, hood, trunk and body panels.

When you look down the sides of this incredible car it is arrow-straight...just as it left the factory in 1960!

The paint has a great deal of "DEPTH" to it and an incredible brilliant finish. Some describe their cars as looking great from 20 feet…

NOT SO with this gorgeous Cadillac. It looks great up close and from any angle and in any light!

I was privileged to work for many years at the amazing Cars Of Dreams Museum in Palm Beach and one of the fantastic cars that were sold at the auction at the Museum almost two years ago was
a magnificent 1960 Red Cadillac Eldorado Convertible....final selling price was more than $250,000!
Although not an Eldorado model but the slightly less expensive Series 62, this car is just as stunning!

This is the nicest 1960 Series 62 Cadillac Convertible I have ever seen...and I have been in this fabulous hobby since 1958 when I bought my 1st vintage car.

The chrome and pot metal look terrific. One of the things that bother me is ugly faded chrome or pot metal that is"pitted" or dull….anyone would be pleased to show up driving this magnificent and elegant Cadillac Convertible.

This car is so spectacular that as good as the photos are...it looks EVEN better in person so your inspection is urged and is most welcome. This is guaranteed to be a NO DISAPPOINTMENT magnificent Cadillac Convertible.

And as good as it looks....it drives in better!!!!

The engine compartment is beautifully and correctly detailed as is the car's beautiful interior and mammoth sized trunk area.

Please DO NOT e-mail me requesting what the reserve price is...instead, call me at 954-873-6495 and I will be happy to share that information with you.

This 1960 Cadillac is equipped with ice cold factory cold Air-conditioning as well as all the Cadillac power features…..and just to point out a few of the Cadillac amenities------------

Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Windows, Power Top, Working AM/FM Signal-Seeking Radio, Power seat, Cadillac Floor Mats, Fender skirts and much more.

Added extras on convertibles included power windows and Two-Way power seats. Technical highlights were comprised of
  • finned rear drums
  • a vacuum operated automatic-releasing floor controlled parking brake
  • tubular X-frame construction.

It was a styling trend of the late 1950's to make the tail fins on full sized American cars larger and larger and larger!

The fins peaked in 1959 with the 1959 Cadillac…also the year that Harley Earl retired from GM. Harley
had hired a young Bill Mitchell at the age of 24 and shortly thereafter Harley made him chief designer at Cadillac.

Bill's 1st design was the Sixty Special 1938 Cadillac...followed by the spectacular 1941 Cadillac. Bill played a key role in the GM design studio and it was Bill Mitchell who redesigned the 1960 Cadillac!

The 1960 Cadillacs had smoother, more restrained styling. General changes included a full-width grille, the elimination of pointed front bumper guards, increased restraint in the application of chrome trim, lower tailfins with oval shaped nacelles and front fender mounted directional indicator lamps

In 1960 the fins on the Cadillac were shorten by 6-8 inches and in my opinion….there were several reasons for this styling change.(Besides the design influence of Bill Mitchell)

The fins were so long on the 1959 model Cadillacs that several fatal and serious accidents occurred when people were backed into and impaled with these monster-sized fins or were involved in car accidents when they accidentally rear-ended a 59 Cadillac with their car.

Also on very windy days and at speeds of 70 mph and above, the rear end of the 59 Cadillacs would be subject to rear-end drifting…I know because I experienced this back in 1959 while drive a 59 Caddy at 70 mph on a very windy spring day..I could feel the wind pushing the giant rear fins...thus making the car slightly unstable and subject to drifting lanes

In 1960 I was fortunate to be invited on a long motor trip with a friend of mine and his Dad who had just purchased a brand new 1960 Caddy Convertible at Baum Cadillac in Pittsburgh. WHAT A CAR! …….Ever since that trip of almost 3000 miles I have been in love with the styling, comfort and drivability of the 1960 Cadillac Convertible.

The 1960 Cadillac was rated as the best buy in the LUXURY car field.......

  • Car Life magazine selected the 1960 Cadillac as its "Best buy in the luxury field."
  • This was the last year for air suspension and for wraparound windshields, except on the Series 75 Fleetwood models.
  • According to contemporary road tests gas economy ratings for 1960 Cadillacs were approximately 14-17 miles per gallon at a steady 60 miles per hour. Tire pressure, a steady pedal, and use of air-conditioning all effect your gas mileage.

  • I realize that a 1959 Cadillac Convertible, whether it be a Series 62 like this car…or an Eldorado..usually command a higher price today than a comparable 1960 model. Of course condition is extremely important.

I have seen a 1959 Eldorado Convertible sell for almost $270,,000 but when Cars Of Dreams Museum sold it's beautiful 1960 Red Eldorado Convertible at auction almost 2 years ago in North Palm Beach,Florida, it brought OVER $250,000!!!! You can own this fabulous Cadillac Convertible for a fraction of that amount!!!

Collectors have begun to realize what incredible cars the 1960 models Cadillacs truly are and their value is continuing to rise…as is their demand. Cars like this are hard to find and this absolutely stunning Cadillac Convertible is going to sell quickly....so if your serious...pick up the phone and call me at 954-873-6495 and I will be happy to discuss the lowest possible price and answer any other questions you might have....including a possible trade-in.

Even in this very tough economic times where real estate has tumbled down a very steep hill....vintage cars...the real ones...the pedigreed cars in great restored or near perfect original condition continue to hold value and in most instances appreciate.

Why not have fun with your money? ...enjoy your life and know that when you wake up in the morning your dollars are still safe in your garage or warehouse and haven't evaporated into thin air

I was privileged to be close friends with the late Jerry J. Moore from Houston, Texas. Jerry was a Real Estate Mogul and one of the largest owners of shopping centers in the world.

Jerry was also an avid car collector and amassed one of the largest and best vintage car collections on the Planet.

If Jerry told me once....he probably told me over 100 times......"In case you forgot...remember..."You will never see a Brinks truck at a funeral service or a Hearse with a luggage rack at a cemetery!"

Car collecting is a family thing...everyone around the world admires and loves these great vintage and collectible cars.

We have sold cars from Australia to Alaska...From China to Saudi Arabia.....From Manhattan to Moscow....and the hobby keeps growing & expanding all the time.

    Collector car insurance is dirt cheap...about $250-$300 a year for a $75,000-$1000,000 car...full coverage!

You do have to keep it in a garage and limit your miles to 2500 a year...other wise you might have to pay a little more.

I always try and look for major flaws and mention them and try to point them out when I see something.

Your welcome to come in person to inspect this car for yourself...hire anyone you like to come on your behalf....bring your magnets and magnifying glasses........see if you can find anything negative worth mentioning...We tried and couldn't find anything other than we stated in the description...maybe you can?

We have tried diligently to find any MAJOR flaws in the paint, body, interior, chrome, glass, etc. and have not been able to locate anything that we could list as a MAJOR problem in the description.
I truly believe there is no such thing as a "PERFECT" old car and we ARE NOT making such a claim.....but this car comes very, very close to perfection!

We are urging you to PLEASE come and inspect the car in person, drive it or to hire an expert inspector to do this for you. AGAIN....Please do not ask us to recommend anyone....we want you to select & hire your own inspector.

Please don't buy a Museum quality car like this unless you have a garage to store it inside. We do not think this car has ever been left outside.

You've found the place for car buffs, car lovers, car aficionados, for guys and girls.... from 8 to 88 and even beyond. If your among the nearly 200 million Americans who still have an ongoing love affair with the automobile... WELCOME... and should you happen to be from a country other than the U.S........ your equally welcome!

Little did Daimler realize just how much his tiny one cylinder motorized bike was going to change the world when invented in the mid 1890's. This motorized bicycle was refined and eventually became the 1st automobile. (one cylinder) and his company became known as Daimler/Benz. (Mercedes Benz) (DaimlerChrysler today)

Step back with us for a return to the middle of the twentieth century... The late, great fabulous 1950's...It was a wonderful time, offering so many new beginnings, as the terrible memories of World War II began to gradually fade and the dreams of our returning heroes and soldiers, as well as their families, could now be fully realized.

With the promise of a lasting world peace, came the hope of prosperity and tranquility...all of which was soon to become a reality.

    "An Age of Innocence"
The Fabulous Fifties was an "age of innocence" and as a young man growing up during this period, a guy would consider himself to be "lucky" if he was able to hold a girl's hand on their first date. If he got a peck on the cheek by their third date, well.... he knew they were made for each other!

It was an age of integrity and trust. One could actually leave your front and rear door unlocked and your car keys in your ignition... and when you returned, nothing would be missing.

"The Rock n' Roll Era and the The Drive-In Craze"

    Book by Michael Karl Witzel

Book by Don and Susan Sanders
In the 1950's life was less complex and perhaps a little slower. People actually took time to wave from their convertibles to friends and to even smile to a stranger and even give a friendly "Hello" to a passerby. Remember those great nights at the local drive-in restaurant or those "make-out" sessions at the local drive-in movie theater. And the term "Parking" took on a whole new meaning.

By the mid 1950's Rock n' Roll had burst onto the scene. Both new cars and souped-up hot rods had become part of the youth culture. The entertainment industry, not to be left out, brought out countless low-budget movies that brought teens to the drive-in movies by the thousands. By the early 1960's songs such as the Beach Boy's "409" and "Little Duece Coupe", The Ripchords "Hey Little Cobra" Jan & Dean's "Drag City" and Ronny and the Daytona's " GTO" were riding high on the charts.

Our love affair with the Automobile was in "full bloom." A few days prior to the new model cars being shown to the public, most new car dealerships would cover their showroom windows with brown paper. Many times I recall try to catch a peek or a glimpse of the new models.... The American Public could hardly wait to see what new and exciting creations were about to be offered by Detroit.
It is these very cars... the Cars of our Dreams, that we will feature and reminisce about... and every month we will offer stories and memories of these great "Cars of our Dreams."... as well as offering the very best examples for sale.

The cars of the 50's and 60's for the most part had "personality!" The great Chevys, Pontiacs, Cadillacs, Buicks and Oldsmobiles helped make GM a world leader and giant of the auto world.

Ford produced fabulous cars including Ford Thunderbirds, Lincolns and Mercurys. Chrysler offered all those incredible Mopars... Plymouths, Desoto, Dodges, and Chrysler.

    1959 Cadillac Brochure Cover

Competition was fierce, but other marquees like Studebaker, AMC, Nash, Kaiser, Hudson, Muntz, Tucker, Avanti, etc. tried to capture a piece of this huge exploding marketplace. Unfortunately, they didn't have the dollar and staying power to compete with the "Big Three."

As the 1960's drew to a close, cars began to change. New EPA requirements and increasing prices for gasoline hasten the demise of the "Muscle" car. The horsepower race came to an end by the early 1970's.... at least for a while.
In 1976 Cadillac crushed the molds to build their last Convertible... the Cadillac Eldorado. They theorized that the American buying public didn't really want convertibles anymore and that production numbers were too small to bother with manufacturing "open air" cars. Boy were they wrong! Heinz Prechter seized the opportunity to custom make convertibles for most manufacturers and ASC (American Sunroof Corporation) exploded with orders and sales. It was a much smaller version of the 71-76 models which seated 4 adults, not 6 as were the 71-76 models

So what exactly is it that makes us lust after those "Cars From Our Dreams?" Simple.... it's the memories, the happy times..... those great times from our youth and the freedom to go where we wanted...when we wanted... with whom we wanted...and in a car that was a ball to drive. It's where Johnny took Mary on their 1st date!

It's so easy to spot a "Car From Our Dreams" on our highways today... just look for someone motoring down the street with a huge grin on their face. Today our hobby is pursued by guys and girls alike...it's just not a "guy" thing anymore and I think that's great. There are enough great memories to go around for everyone.

How big is the car-collecting hobby? No one really knows for sure. However, there are several million cars that have been preserved or restored and our hobby is expanding... not shrinking.... and with sixty million "Baby Boomers" with disposal income and spendable dollars out there... the prices will continue to escalate.

The nice thing about our hobby today, as opposed to the wild speculation on vintage cars that occurred throughout the 1980's is that these cars are being driven and enjoyed... not just been stored away in warehouses and garages.

So celebrate with us as we embark on the next fifty years and if you feel compelled to exclaim "Hubba Hubba" or a loud "Hooray" as we reminisce with these "Cars From Yesterday and Cars Of Our Dreams"... it's perfectly acceptable!

Is this the 2014-15 Cadillac Escalade?

    Fri, 19 Apr 2013

Following the introduction of the redesigned Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, we're expecting General Motors won't wait too much longer to show off the next-generation fullsize SUVs that share this platform - including the Cadillac Escalade. It's still not clear if the next Escalade will debut for the 2014 or 2015 model years, but Carscoops has what it claims to an exclusive first look of the new Cadillac, revealing a portion of the headlight, front fascia and wheel.
Judging from this small picture, it looks like the Escalade could incorporate styling cues that we've seen on new Cadillac models like the ELR and the 2014 CTS, but that article says that other design details could include tall, vertical taillights similar to the CTS Wagon, staggered-width wheels and a narrower daylight opening for the side windows. The last time we saw the fourth-generation 'Slade back in October in spy shots, the heavy camouflage prevented us from getting an idea of the luxury SUV's appearance, but this image and description gives us something to look forward to. Head on over to Carscoops for more potential information as well as a full rendering from back in January.

    Cadillac confirms 420-hp twin-turbo V6 for 2014 CTS [w/videos]

    Mon, 18 Mar 2013

The 2014 CTS will break cover next week at the New York Auto Show, but Cadillac has released a few details of what we can expect to find under the car's hood. As we saw in some spy shots back in January, the biggest news for the midsize Caddy will be a twin-turbocharged V6 producing a whopping 420 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque.
This LF3 engine will be paired to a new eight-speed automatic transmission, which will help balance performance and fuel economy. We still don't know how much the 2014 CTS has grown in terms of size and weight, but General Motors says that new sedan will return 17 miles per gallon in the city and 25 mpg highway with the new engine to go with a 0-60 mile per hour time of 4.6 seconds - that means the new CTS will have the fuel economy close to the current base model sedan and acceleration not too far from the current CTS-V. General Motors also confirmed that this twin-turbo V6 will be available in the 2014 XTS this fall.
The next-generation CTS will carry over the 3.6-liter V6 from the current car (likely as a base engine) and also add the 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder from the ATS. Check out all the details on this new engine and watch a few videos (including GM's nifty tilt rig) by scrolling below.

Cadillac prepares to top its own 'Ring record with upcoming new CTS-V

    Mon, 14 Jul 2014

It was a big deal back in 2008 when the original Cadillac CTS-V clocked a lap time of 7:59 at the Nürburgring, making it the fastest sedan ever to lap the Nordschleife to that date. Not many four-doors have bested that time since - the list consisting pretty much only of the Porsche Panamera Turbo - but now hot hatches are lapping faster than that, so you can bet that the new one will manage an even better time.
Now we've spotted the upcoming new CTS-based performance sedan several times before undergoing testing in locations around the world, but this is the first time we've seen it at the Nürburgring, apparently using the Goodyear Dunlop test facility as its base of operations (and still wearing Michigan manufacturer plates, incidentally). Considering how well the outgoing CTS-V performed and how much further you can bet Cadillac will push the envelop this time around, a new sedan lap record is almost a certainty - and we can only hope for an all-out war between Europe's performance sedan power houses to ensue.
