 Up for auction is a

Rare Driven Daily Survivor Buick Riviera.

Starts right up and drives nice on both the highways and back roads.

A menacing head turner with lots of pick up, get up and go.

One of the most powerful standard true old 1960s engines that my mechanic has ever seen.

Lots of 70 mph stretches of Nevada road near here and I have passed traffic quickly ;>)

And the sound is a WOW!

 Detailed Model Information

The 1967 Buick Riviera was the second year for the new body style which was longer, and heavier than the previous model. The Riviera was still described as a 2-door, hardtop, sport coupe even though it was more of a personal luxury vehicle. The Riviera did have a big, new 430ci -360hp- eight cylinder engine which moved this big car down the road pretty quickly. At a base price of $4,469.00 the Riviera was the most expensive and most popular Buick offered that year.

The 1967 Buick Riviera, while it looked virtually identical to the 1966 (save for a grille and taillight touch-up), used an entirely different engine. The 1966 Riviera had carried over the 425-cid V-8 from 1963-1965, an engine that unbeknownst to the public had reached the end of its road. Buick sorely needed a bigger, better V-8.

For 1967, the Riviera received modest changes like a new grille, side trim, tail lights, and a new motor.  The original owner added an altimeter which is a highly unusual accessory.

The most significant change for 1967 was the adoption of Buick's entirely new V8 of 430 cu in (7.0 L) displacement, 360 horsepower (270 kW) and 475 lb·ft (644 N·m) of torque to replace the old 425 "nailhead". The new engine, with greater power and torque on hand, represented a significant performance improvement. Gasoline mileage improved slightly with the new engine, though it remained gas-thirsty compared to modern cars. Powerful Disc brakes with Bendix four-piston calipers became optional for the front wheels but most Riviera continued to be ordered with Buick's aluminum brake drums which were almost as good. Cosmetically, changes were few, and were limited to the addition of a wide, full-width, center-mounted horizontal chrome grille bar that stretched over the headlight doors and outboard parking lights.  The Riviera had full instrumentation.

1967 saw the introduction of U.S. mandated safety equipment to improve occupant protection during a crash, including an energy-absorbing steering column, non-protruding control knobs, 4-way hazard flasher, soft interior surfaces, locking seat backs (on 2-door models), a dual-circuit hydraulic braking system (with warning light), and shoulder belt anchors. Of course Rivieras complied on all counts and featured the full range of safety features.

Detailed Condition Information

Engine:  This engine was rebuilt about two years ago.  The carburetor was rebuilt only about three months ago.  At that time, the steering was tightened and it was tuned up. We thought about

adding electronic ignition but kept it stock.

The brakes stop the car fine and were regularly serviced.

The automatic transmission shifts nicely through all the gears as it should.

Exterior: Lots of little scratches and imperfections, some dents have to pulled out. The paint is peeling and the original steel body is being exposed. Time for a repaint or drive as is!

Interior: The interior sides are fine but the front seat has some rips and needs a cover.  It could use new carpeting and a new cover for the ceiling.  the old ceiling cover sagged and we removed it but didn't replace it.

Glass: The glass appears to be original and is in good shape.

Battery: the battery is new and was recently replaced.

Tires: The tires are fairly good.

Paint:  The paint appears to be original and is consistent with one of the Riviera Red color of that year

Title:  The title is a clear California title.   Please check the rules in your State about title transfers.  The car is located in Reno, NV.

Small number of 2013 Buick Encore models recalled for loose steering wheel

Thu, 04 Apr 2013

General Motors has issued a recall and a stop sale for the 2013 Buick Encore due to an issue that could result in the steering wheel falling off on certain models. In a letter to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, GM says that 144 Encores equipped with heated steering wheels could have been incorrectly retrofitted due to a parts shortage.
Needless to say, a loose or separated steering wheel would likely cause an accident if it happened while the vehicle was in motion. The recall doesn't go into effect until April 12, but concerned Encore owners can use the official recall notice (attached below) to contact GM.

City, Slicker
We admit it. We have no earthly idea how this whole thing is going to shake out.
Typically, after driving a new car or truck, we come away prepared to hazard a guess as to whether said model has a good chance of being a sales success. We've amassed enough time watching the industry, scrutinizing the competitors, and so on, to make a reasonably educated bet. Yet here we are, days removed from driving the new 2013 Buick Encore, and we still have no bloody idea.

Opel Insignia OPC getting facelift. Will the Buick Regal GS see it, too?

Tue, 07 Aug 2012

We've seen spy shots of the base Opel Insignia wearing facelifted front and rear ends, and now it appears that the more potent OPC version will be benefitting from a nip/tuck, as well.
The front bumper has been redesigned, incorporating new air intakes - toned-down versions of the model's signature fangs - as well as a new grille. Out back, there will be minimal changes to the overall fascia, most likely stuff like slightly redesigned taillamps, and inside, these spy shots show a larger navigation/infotainment screen sitting atop the center console.
This is all well and good for the Insignia, but we're wondering how these changes will impact North America's Buick Regal GS. No, it may not share the same powertrain punch as the Euro-spec OPC, but visually, the cars are nearly identical. When questioned about possible changes for the GS, a Buick spokesperson told us that the automaker "can't comment" on any changes at this point. Even so, we wouldn't be surprised if some small changes come our way in the next year or so.
