1966 Buick Riviera on 2040-cars

Year:1966 Mileage:107000
Location:

Kokomo, Indiana, United States

Kokomo, Indiana, United States

This 66 Riviera is a California car that I bought and had shipped to Indiana that I planned to restore. It has the unusual options of A/C and bucket seats with console shifter although the buckets would need new covers, back seat ok. Last year for the Nailhead. I think the engine may be locked up. I put a socket on the crank and was unable to turn it. The car ran great about 18mos ago but sadly not now. I don't feel well enough to give it the time and energy to work on it. It is all there except the air cleaner and an emblem or two is broken. The stainless is all there too. The previous owners brother sat a battery on top of the pass side quarter (see pics) and will need a patch there. The rest of the body is very good including the wheel wells and doors, unusual for an old Riv in this area. It does not have power windows. Crummy radio has been installed but dash face is fine along with all vents and instr. cluster including the barrel speedo. Steering wheel is very nice. Parts are worth more but dont want to use what energy I have to take them off. Hard to find good 48yr old doors , drain holes clear and solid but inner panels aren't great. Lenses are there but old of course. Has perfect 90fin drums, fact mags  and decent bumpers. Hard to find operational headlight motor. Floors and trunk are very good trunk does have some rust in spare tire well, extensions are very good. I am getting too old and sick to spend time on it but will part it out if I must. This car should be trailered as I am selling it as not running and questionable brakes. Its almost 50 yrs old so I cannot give any warranty. Have a question? Email or text me, Kris 7653989257. I will not ship it but will  assist.  Car must be removed within 10 days of end of the auction .  I will begin parting it after that. Thank you for viewing the auction. I will accept a check but vehicle cannot leave until check clears my bank. Please check all details on this sale so we have a flawless transaction. Kris

Bob Seger's Detroit Made music video is an homage to the Motor City

Tue, 16 Sep 2014

At this point, Bob Seger feels like the living embodiment of old-school rock 'n' roll. The Michigan native has been strumming out classic records like Night Moves for decades, and he just released a new single called Detroit Made. It sounds like a future staple of just about every classic car show within the next few years, and the video is dedicated to the Motor City, past and future.
Detroit Made is all about cruising in the city in a classic Buick Electra 225, perhaps better known as a "deuce and a quarter." It's straight-down-the-middle rock and could just as easily be from a decades-old Seger album as something new.
The video for the new single mixes shots of American classics cruising along Woodward Avenue with a contemporary look at the city. Sure, there are the well-known dilapidated buildings falling into rubble, but the people there aren't just letting the city die. Other parts show the attempts to clean things up and rebuild. Check out the video if you need a few minutes of old school rockin' in your life.

GM laying off 510 amidst slow Cadillac, small car sales

Wed, 12 Nov 2014

General Motors is laying off about 510 workers from two factories beginning in January, and it could be months before the automaker needs some of that latent capacity to come back on line. A combination of poor sales and high dealer inventories are prompting the cutbacks, according to Automotive News.
The largest changes come at GM's Lansing Grand River plant, where the Cadillac ATS and CTS are made. An entire shift of about 350 workers is being laid off, but the automaker hopes to find positions for some of them at other nearby factories. The decision leaves just a single shift building vehicles there. According to Automotive News, the move is partially spurred by Johan de Nysschen's plan to make Cadillac a more exclusive brand.
The lost shift will likely return for production of the next-generation Chevrolet Camaro at the plant, according to the report, but GM isn't saying when that will be. A previous announcement from the Canadian Auto Workers union indicated that the Oshawa, Ontario, factory would lose the coupe in late 2015 or early 2016.

Buick shows US dealers 2016 Cascada convertible

Wed, 20 Aug 2014

The affordable four-seat convertible has become a largely forgotten genre in the States, especially with the death of the Chrysler 200 Convertible. Of course, there are still premium options from Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz - not to mention more overtly performance-oriented droptop pony cars from Chevrolet and Ford - but if you want an affordable cruiser, you're kind of out of luck. That may be about to change, however, with renewed rumors of the Opel Cascada (pictured above) making it across the Atlantic wearing a Buick badge.
According to GM Inside News, Buick showed off the Cascada to US dealers last week, with renewed word that the company plans to bring it over from Europe for the 2016 model year. The US version will reportedly be practically identical to its German cousin in terms of styling, but the powertrain underneath is less certain. According to GMI, it may use the 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that is available in Europe with either 168 horsepower or 197 hp.
The Cascada rides on GM's Delta II platform, which also underpins the Verano, and the latest rumor certainly provides even more evidence that the convertible is probably on the way. Speculation about the droptop started when GM CEO Dan Akerson said last year that the car was on his wish list to bring over. Then, the US trademark on the name was reserved earlier this year, and the release was speculated for sometime in early 2016.
