It is likely if you were drawn to this listing, you know what you’re looking for. Therefore I will spare you from reading a sales pitch full of fluff with little substance.

1990 Reatta convertible with 61,600 miles – a southern California car (no body rust). This car is 1 of 60 produced with this color combination (silver/gray). Body panels are original (no accidents). Paint shines like a new penny. Engine is smooth (no mechanical issues), PS, PW, PB (brakes work as they should - no warning lights on the IP). THIS CAR NEEDS NOTHING. This is a non-smoker, pet free car that can be driven to the grocery store or across the country.

Keep in mind the enclosed pictures are each worth a thousand words, here is more information….

~ Leather seats are in great shape (no rips or tears) and all power seat functions perform as they should.

~ Newer Haartz cloth convertible top w/ rear glass window defogger (installed March 2012).

~ Front windshield is clean (no cracks).

~ Interior convertible liner in terrific shape.

~ Leather steering wheel in terrific shape (no need for a $14.99 steering wheel cover from Walmart).

~ Two working horn buttons.

~ Cruise control.

The original silver paint has a deep shine with less than expected scratches that would accompany a similar car of this age.

Clear coat does not fade or peel.

Brief ownership history: As was told by second owner, original owner was a pediatrician who flew to Washington (state) for a seminar in Fall, 1990. He missed his flight back home to SoCal and with time to spare (next flight was the following day), he walked into a Buick dealership near the hotel. Somewhat on a whim, he bought this Reatta for his wife and drove it home. Wife didn’t want a convertible so this became his car. In 1993 he passed away. From 1993 – 2007, the car, while maintained by his wife, didn’t see much daylight. The wife passed away on 2007. The estate gave the car to the second owner (the couple’s niece) in 2007. She enjoyed the car until 2012 as a job opportunity had her relocate out of state. I bought the car from her in April 2012.

When purchased, it was already well taken care of. 98% of the items I described earlier were proactive measures to replace what would eventually need attention (typical for Reattas). Not until long ago, the car was my weekend cruiser.

This car shows pride of ownership dating back to the original owner. It should be driven and enjoyed but not necessarily as a daily driver (just my opinion).

I have owned nine Reattas (six convertibles). My enthusiasm for the car inspired me to start and sponsor the Reatta Rally; which has quickly become the largest independent gathering of Reattas west of the Mississippi. Gratuitous plug: The 2014 Reatta Rally takes place this July in Los Angeles (http://www.ReattaRally.com).

Two exterior modifications have been made:  1. Installed chrome exhaust tips (which are removable).  2. I installed 16” Reatta wheels when new tires (225/60-16) were purchased.  As known, the larger wheels give the car a better, quieter ride (and fill the wheel-well better).

Questions???  Don’t hesitate to ask. Additional pictures available upon request. I would like this car to be enjoyed by a Reatta enthusiast for many years to come.

Mileage may vary as car is available locally for viewing and test drive. $500 non-refundable deposit due from winning bidder within 24 hours of close of auction.  Balance due via bank/cashier’s check or wire within 5 days. Tags, title & license (and shipping) is the responsibility of the buyer.

Bob Seger's Detroit Made music video is an homage to the Motor City

Tue, 16 Sep 2014

At this point, Bob Seger feels like the living embodiment of old-school rock 'n' roll. The Michigan native has been strumming out classic records like Night Moves for decades, and he just released a new single called Detroit Made. It sounds like a future staple of just about every classic car show within the next few years, and the video is dedicated to the Motor City, past and future.
Detroit Made is all about cruising in the city in a classic Buick Electra 225, perhaps better known as a "deuce and a quarter." It's straight-down-the-middle rock and could just as easily be from a decades-old Seger album as something new.
The video for the new single mixes shots of American classics cruising along Woodward Avenue with a contemporary look at the city. Sure, there are the well-known dilapidated buildings falling into rubble, but the people there aren't just letting the city die. Other parts show the attempts to clean things up and rebuild. Check out the video if you need a few minutes of old school rockin' in your life.

2014 Buick Regal GS AWD

Thu, 27 Feb 2014

"This is just silly," I said as I laughed my way sideways around the icy track at Circuit ICAR, a racecourse, drag strip and kart track at the Montreal-Mirabel International Airport in Quebec. It wasn't the activity that had me cracking up, though. After all, winter driving experiences aren't uncommon in this business.
No, in this particular case, it was the car that had me chuckling. I wasn't in a mad hot hatch or a rally-derived rocket - I was in a Buick. The 2014 Regal GS, to be more precise. Somehow, despite its recent product renaissance (not to mention its distant - yet storied - history of performance models), I was having a hard time believing that this attractive, turbocharged, all-wheel-drive sedan sliding around the Great White North could possibly be wearing a Tri-Shield badge on its nose.
But it was, and slide about it did. While having access to a vehicle in this setting is fairly rare, what's rarer is the fact that I've had so much exposure to it. In Mr. Ewing's recent Volkswagen Golf R drive story, for instance, his ice capades were his first experience with the new model. In my case, though, I was lucky enough to first test the refreshed Regal GS for a week back in December before flying to Quebec to drive it on the snowy, icy, winding roads of Canada's most fiercely independent province and on the track at Mirabel.

Buick struggling to keep up with Encore demand

Tue, 06 Aug 2013

Buick is having a hard time keeping up with demand for its all-new Encore mini-CUV, according to a report from Automotive News. The stylish, lifted five-door went on sale in January, but dealers have reported that supplies have dwindled after the initial high demand, taking the proverbial "wind out of the sails."
General Motors admits that it underestimated demand for the diminutive Buick, which is built in Korea and sold as the Opel Mokka in Europe, where it's also seen success. Buick spokesperson Nick Richards told AN, "We increased production, so there have been a lot more landing within the last month."
Buick has done a booming business, though, even with its limited supply of Encores. With over 12,000 units sold in the first half of 2013, the small CUV is on pace to annihilate industry analysts' estimates, which predicted no more than 18,500 units in 2013. We're not entirely surprised. When we first drove the Encore late last year, Autoblog professed that we had no idea how sales would turn out, as the Encore wasn't really entering into an established segment. Even so, wefound a surprising amount to like in the Encore, enough that we "wouldn't bet against it" being a major success.
