2006 BMW M3 Convertible
Includes Bavarian Sound Works (BSW) Subwoofer and Speaker Upgrade

You are bidding on a very nice M3, both cosmetically and mechanically, that has been meticulously cared for by the owner. The vehicle has the best audio I have ever heard, and is upgraded beyond the upgraded Harmon Kardon sound with Bavarian Sound Works (BSW) sub and speakers. The sound is very sophisticated, with tight bass. There is also a BMW headphone jack (AUX input) in the glove compartment. Also, the navigation screen is bright and clear, and easy to read in bright sunlight.

This vehicle has a clean title, has not been smoked in, and has always lived in Texas or New Mexico (no salt corrosion). This is also the tightest, quietest convertible I have ever driven. I am selling this vehicle since I recently purchased a Porsche 911, but I honestly hate to let this one go. I have invested a great deal of time caring for this car.

As far as blemishes, there are some paint chips on front bumper, a few on the hood and front fender area. However, as you can see from the photos, they are not visible from a normal viewing distance. Wheels have only minor curbing around edges in spots (not really visible from normal viewing distance). However, the engine compartment looks fantastic (virtually no corrosion in West Texas / Albuquerque area).

I have meticulously replaced with brand new BMW OEM parts (within the past year) the following items, which tend to wear/fade on all E46 M3s, to make this car look great:
  • Hood vent grill
  • Passenger and driver's side mirrors
  • Front and rear carpets/mats
  • Passenger and driver's side Xeon headlight cover glass and gaskets
  • Silver, M3 lower steering wheel trim
  • Front BMW emblem

Key Features:
  • 19" Premium Alloy Wheels
  • Leather seats
  • Parking sensors (rear backup warning sensors in bumper)
  • Brushed aluminum trim
  • BSW Sub and Speaker Package (upgraded from Harmon Kardon)
  • Power driver and passenger seats (including power headrest)
  • Xeon Headlights
  • Automatic opening/closing convertible top
  • Navigation system with CD player, original BMW 2006 maps disk and 2012 maps disk
  • SMG transmission
  • Auto-dimming rear view mirror w/ garage door remote buttons
  • Airbags: driver, passenger and side

Consumer Reports' first motorcycle reliability report finds Japanese brands ahead

Sat, 22 Feb 2014

Consumer Reports has released its first ever study of motorcycle reliability, and students of its ratings on cars might notice a suspicious similarity - Japanese brands require fewer repairs than the leading American or German brands.
The study analyzed the reliability of 4,680 bikes owned by CR subscribers and found that Yamaha had the best ratings, with just one in ten bikes built between 2009 and 2012 requiring a repair over a four-year period. The makers of the R1 and R6 sport bikes were closely followed by Kawasaki and Honda, while one out of every four of the rumbling bikes from Harley-Davidson experienced an issue. BMW had the worst rating of the brands represented, with one in three bikes having problems.
According to CR, neither Suzuki nor Triumph owners provided enough information for a reliable rating. Based on the responses received, though, Suzuki would have finished with the other Japanese brands and Triumph, being English, would have been one of the less reliable makes.

Watch this BMW take flight at Viru Rally

Mon, 20 Oct 2014

An E36 BMW 3 Series might be a good choice for a lot of purposes - a long road trip, a track day, rallycross, impressing your friends... but a full-on rally? It's rear-drive when the best rally machines are front- or all-wheel drive. But that didn't stop Pritt Koik and Alari-Uku Heldna from entering their stripped-out E36 in the Viru Rally in Estonia... or from getting some big air time when they did.
Fortunately the jump was not just caught on video... it was caught on video from three angles: two from the side of the rally stage and one from inside the cockpit. Check out all three below to see how this particular BMW got back into the aircraft business.

BMW may be planning AMG Black Series competitors

Fri, 01 Feb 2013

Word has it BMW has its heart set on giving the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Black Series a run for its money in the US. According to BimmerBoost.com, the German automaker has been making more and more noise about offering a number of specialty models aimed specifically at enthusiasts. While at the Detroit Auto Show this year, the BMW PR machine revealed 2013 will be "an interesting year" and that buyers can expect one or two products aimed specifically at swiping buyers from the clutches of the C63 AMG Black Series. The news came courtesy of Automobile writer Marc Noordeloos' Twitter machine.
Noordeloos reportedly interviewed several executives familiar with the M models while in Detroit, and says the M division would like to offer hardware like the M3 CSL, GTS or CRT to buyers here in the States. That sounds great to us, but saying something doesn't make it true, and manufacturers rarely find it in their hearts to bring money-losing machines to our green shores. Still, that won't stop us from crossing our fingers.
