I have for sale a very rare 1993 BMW 850ci. This car has a 5.0L v12 engine which produces 295 horse power, 330 lb torque, with rare 6speed manual transmission. This is one of 35 ,manual 850ci sold in the United States in 1993.

This car runs, drives and looks great. I get many compliments everytime I drive it. The car currently stays in the garage parked next to my E30 M3. It does not leak any fluids on the garage floor. The body has 193k miles but the engine was replaced with a low mileage engine with 80k miles 2 years back. The engine should have less then 100,000 miles on it now. A new clutch kit was also put in at the same time as the engine ( I have receipts for the clutch and engine replacement done by a reputable Euro shop in GA). All electronics seem to be working, (windows, sunroof, power door locks, keyless entry, heated seats, traction control, heat, cold A/c, radio, cd changer, on board computer.) This car is completly stock other then factory BMW staggered 18" E39 M-Parallel wheels with hub centric rings, and a custom X pipe and Magnaflow 1 into 2 mufflers. Not to loud but gives it a nice v12 rumble. All books, owners manuals, and maintance records from the previous owner will be included along with 1 original key with a working factory BMW keyless entry remote and 2 spare keys.

Items that have been put on or replaced recently- Spark plugs, distributor caps, distributor rotors, front brake pads, front brake rotors, front brake pad sensor, rear brake pads, rear brake pad sensor, rear brake rotors, rear emergency brake shoes, rear brake shoe hardware, rear tires, a/c fan resistor, both oxygen sensors, new windshield and front windshield gasket, cleaned and serviced throttle bodies and MAF sensors. As much as I would love to keep this car and restore it to like new condition, priorities come first. My wife says I have to get rid of this one or the E30 M3 and I'm not selling the M3.

Known problems with the car- This car runs and drives great and from 5 feet away it looks amazing, but given the age and mileage of the body for it to be perfect it could use a paint job to take out all the small imperfections(rock chips, scratches, rust etc). This car was originally from Chicago and was driven during the winter and shows some surface rust on some areas (Driver side A pillar, Sunroof, Small spot on passenger door, and right rear wheel well area. (see pictures). The headliner will need to be replaced due to sagging, missing some pixles on the radio and onboard computer but they still work and can be read (see pics).

Please view the pictures closely, do not assume anything please ask any and all questions before bidding. This car will be sold AS-IS.

Ebay would only allow me to upload 24 photos. Below is a few shots of the engine and interior.

Old vs. new debate gets new life with $25,000 Fiesta ST vs. E46 M3 showdown

Fri, 10 Jan 2014

You know who you are. There's probably a few of you reading; the ones that say, "Why would I spend $27,000 on a new Mazda MX-5 when I could get a used Chevrolet Corvette with more power." Yes, we're talking to you, used car proponents. While it is a fair argument, it's not like used cars don't come with drawbacks of their own, though.
In an attempt to put this new-versus-used argument to bed once and for all, Matt Farah of the The Smoking Tire has picked up a pair of $25,000 cars - a used, but lightly modified, 2003 BMW M3 and a 2013 Ford Fiesta ST. Naturally, there's a comparison.
Farah, as he's wont to do, does get into the nitty gritty of what each car is like to drive, and discusses the merits of used and new-car shopping. But as he rightly points out while testing the M3, "So, it is a good car. But like any used car, it really does depend on the individual car."

Police arrest 'Fastest Lap Around Manhattan' driver [w/video]

Fri, 06 Sep 2013

Don't speed. Don't drive recklessly. Don't try to break the unofficial record for a lap of Manhattan. And if you go against this reasonable advice, do not, under any circumstances, record it and post the video on YouTube. If you do, you'll end up like Christopher Adam Tang - under arrest and facing a bevy of charges relating to the video.
Tang posted the video, which showed him lapping Manhattan in 24 minutes last Wednesday, and it quickly went viral. Now Tang, who went by the online moniker AfroDuck, is in cuffs. According to a local CBS affiliate, he was picked up at his home on Wednesday evening by police, who also seized the car used in the video, a 2006 BMW Z4.
What isn't clear is how Tang was caught. His video seems carefully done in that there are no outwardly visible signs that point to him, while the video itself is clearly sped up. While the NYPD hasn't come out and said that Tang was caught due to its extensive surveillance systems around the city, police commissioner Ray Kelly did point out that the new systems "will assist in this type of investigation." Let that serve as a warning to anyone that tries to break the 24-minute barrier. Scroll down to watch the full video.

BMW 2 Series Convertible goes for a drive in the cold

Wed, 13 Feb 2013

The BMW 2 Series is the car that will eventually replace the 1 Series here in the United States (remember: the 1 Series moniker will live on to describe the hatchback models in other markets), and while we've seen the new coupe out on the prowl, we're now seeing the droptop version out on the road. We don't have much information about the new 2er models, only that they are expected to bow sometime in 2014.
Dimensionally, the new 2 Series convertible looks very similar in size to its outgoing 1 Series kin, with things like the roofline and roof shape looking nearly identical. Of course, reworked front and rear fascias are immediately noticeable, and judging by what little we can see, it appears as though the small BMW will take many of its design cues from the larger 3 Series rather than the oft-awkward-looking 1 Series hatch that's currently available in Europe.
Assuming things are still on track for 2014, we won't rule out a possible debut in Geneva, though the Frankfurt expo in September makes even more sense.
