For sale is a beautiful stock and well maintained BMW e38 2000 Bimmer. The oil was changed either every 5,000 miles or 3 months depending on how many road trips there were in the quarter. I have all of the service receipts. There are no leaks on the vehicle. There are no rips in the leather and all of the original electronics still work (navigation, stereo, 6 disc changer).
Additionally, over the past year I have had the following word done on the Bimmer;
- Replaced front brakes and rotors Oct 10'
- Replaced rear brakes, rotors and glove box in Feb 11'
- Replaced tie rod, tie rod assembly, center line, and did an alignment Nov 11'
- Replaced front pads and rotors Nov 11'
- Replaced intake manifold cover, intake manifold vent pipe, valley cover seal, intake manifold gasket, crankcase pressure regulator, throttle housing gasket, coolant manifold gasket, oil filter housing motor, and spark plug boot Feb 12'
- Replaced radiator nipple and coolant bypass hose with a tune-up May 12'
- Wax/detail job Dec 12'
I am selling it because the timing guide broke resulting in me needing a new engine. The car will need to be towed/shipped. I will also be putting the OEM wheels back on the vehicle. If you would like the hard-to-find 18" staggered wheels then I can include them for an extra $500 as they also come with 3 virtually new Michelin tires (85% tread).

BMW i3 configurator is so advanced it's replaced trim levels
Fri, 25 Apr 2014BMW's electric i3 is slowly marching its way to dealers. It might not be happening quite fast enough for customers, though. For you anxious individuals, head over to the BMW consumer website and build your ideal i3 in the new configurator.
Before we talk about all the stuff this build tool can do, we need to address the naming of BMW's trim levels for the EV hatchback. The 328i, for example, is available in Sport Line, M Sport Line and Luxury Line. That's good; it makes sense. The i3, though, has Giga World, Tera World and Mega World. Seriously. We've no idea what BMW was thinking when it came up with this (this is the same company that regularly uses the phrase "Sport Activity Vehicle," so...).
Silly names aside, let's try and translate where each trim fits in. The Mega World is the base trim. The Giga, at $1,700, adds stylish leather-and-wool seats in a clean two-tone color scheme, along with 19-inch wheels and a leather-covered IP. The Tera World demands $2,700, but makes up for it with its own 19-inch wheels and a full leather interior. Both lines (worlds?) add satellite radio and eucalyptus wood trim.
Bangle urges auto design shakeup, says industry not innovating
Fri, 30 Aug 2013Controversial designer Chris Bangle, the man behind the notorious E65 BMW 7-Series "Bangle Butt," has some rather sharp criticism for the current crop of automotive designers in an upcoming full-length interview with Automotive News Europe. The preview, posted on Automotive News, details parts of the interview, with the always vocal Bangle lamenting the state of modern automotive design.
"Even concept cars today simply anticipate the next production model coming down the line. Is this innovation? No. And at the end of the day this is what's preventing car design from moving into a new era." Controversial as Bangle's design philosophy may be, we can't help but think he has a point. His so-called "flame surfacing" at BMW and other stylistic elements had a huge influence on modern automotive design, although as the years have passed, there hasn't been much innovation on the same scale.
Interestingly, Bangle also mentions that he's been courted by a few manufacturers that wanted to install the American as the head of their design teams. He's flatly rejected them, telling ANE, "It's not something you can do part time, you have to do it with all your heart and soul or you're going to get it wrong."
BMW rethinks all-wheel-drive M cars
Fri, 04 Oct 2013BMW M hasn't been able to decide whether it wants to jump on the all-wheel-drive bandwagon or not (with the exceptions of the X5 M and the X6 M, which are based on AWD architecture). That might be changing though, since M's president Friedrich Nitschke recently realized that 70 to 80 percent of Mercedes-Benz E63 AMGs are ordered with all-wheel drive. Earlier this year, Nitschke said that there were no new AWD M models planned, so this comes as somewhat of a surprise.
"On our cars we are thinking of all-wheel drive, but it won't come before we get the successor of the M5 and M6," Nitschke said in a Motoring report. "That's the timing and it's not practical to react in the current life cycles."
