**Please note: This description will be very beneficial in telling you what an awesome car this BMW is.  I have not included a lot of pictures because the car is so immaculate that the few I have uploaded tell it all.  However, I would be more than happy to send more pictures if requested.  Please read the info below to see how truly amazing this car is!**

2008 BMW 550i M Sport

There are three kinds of used cars for sale out there:

1.) Those that get buffed and lathered with armor all and look shiny and pretty until you get it home and realize it's not the car you thought it was. (95% of used cars.)

2.) Those that are well kept from the time they leave the showroom floor.  Not with cover up greasy shiny products but average polishes and cleaners. (4.9% of used cars.)

3.) This car.  Garage kept, mint condition, service strictly maintained, babied to the point where you could possibly diagnose me with an obsessive disorder solely related to the upkeep of this car.  Zaino-only cleaning regimen, including clay bar treatments twice per year.  There is not a nicer 550i on eBay at this time as far as I am aware.  This car is in the .1% category.

The above was written on the ad when I purchased this car from it's original owner, and it seems this fellow was as picky with this car as a person could be.  But believe it or not, I am as much, or more particular with this car than he was!

I am the second owner of this car, the person I bought it from, purchased it straight off the BMW showroom floor.  I will try to list all the options and information on this car, but it has so many great things about it, I will probably leave something out.

  • Alpine White exterior with Black Dakota interior and dark Burlwood accents.
  • 52,700 miles (only 48,000 when I purchased the car.) The only reason I am selling this vehicle is because I do not drive it very often and hate to see such a fun/spectacular car sit in the garage.
  • The interior is absolutely flawless.  The exterior has a couple, very tiny, (normal) pebble chips from driving, that have been covered with factory BMW Alpine White touch up paint and also touch up clear to finish it off correctly.
  • Cold weather package (heating steering wheel, heated front seats, and retractable headlight washers.) $750.00 add on.
  • Sport package (19" M-wheels, larger steering wheel, shadow line trim, 20pt multi-contour seats, sport suspension, M aerodynamic package - front and rear bumper and side kit) $4600.00 add on.
  • Sport Automatic Transmission (w/ paddle shifters on steering wheel) $500.00 add on.
  • Universal garage door opener (integrated into rear view mirror)
  • Comfort access $1000.00 add on.
  • Moonroof
  • Power rear sunshade.
  • Rear, side window sunshades. $750.00 add on.
  • Auto dimming mirrors.
  • Auto dimming rear view mirror.
  • Park Distance Control.
  • Xenon HID headlights.
  • Adaptive light control.
  • iPod and USB adapter $400.00 add on.
  • Navigation system (w/ 2012 nav update disc) $1900.00 add on.
  • Heads up Display (in front of driver) $1200.00 add on.
  • BMW Assist
  • HD Radio $350.00 add on.
  • Sirius Satellite Radio $595.00 add on.
  • Logic 7 Premium Sound System $1200.00 add on.
  • Variable Light Decoding
  • New Batter (original was not bad, but thought it was time to replace.)
  • Currently has all weather floor mats, but also have a new set of OE carpeted mats.

The sticker price on this car at the time of purchase was $72,345.00

This car also has a transferable 3 year 100,000 mile bumper to bumper extended warranty through Route 66 company.  It is by far the best add on warranty I have seen!

  • Dealer installed brand new brakes and rotors in September 2012.
  • New rear tires in March 2012, @ 40,881 miles
  • All four tires are Bridgestone Pole Position 960AS w/40k mileage warranty.
  • Includes both Comfort Access keys, all owner's manuals and window sticker.

This car truly is one of a kind as far as a used BMW (or any car) go's!

Former BMW M boss and Maserati CEO killed in freak motorcycle accident

Mon, 19 Aug 2013

It's a tragic coincidence that on the same weekend the BMW M4 Coupe Concept was introduced in Monterey, one of the men most integral to BMW's M and Motorsports divisions, Karl-Heinz Kalbfell, was killed in England. Kalbfell, a vintage motorcycle enthusiast, was set to compete in the Lansdowne Classic Series at Brands Hatch and had an accident during a practice session. After going wide at Druids Corner and falling, he was hit by a competitor following close behind and died of his injuries after being transported to hospital.
Kalbfell, an engineer, began his career at BMW in 1977 in the communications department; a decade later he was chairman of BMW M GmbH, overseeing development of some of the cars responsible for the myth of M. In 1994 he was named chairman of BMW Motorsport, and his cap full of feathers includes getting the BMW V12 into the McLaren F1, getting the BMW V8 into two Morgan cars, along with developing BMW's Formula One engine and return to the sport. Not incidentally, he also assumed leadership of Project Rolls-Royce after BMW bought the British marque in 1998, which means he oversaw the Goodwood factory upfit and the creation of the Phantom.
He left Rolls-Royce for a brief stint at Fiat, heading Alfa Romeo and Maserati, then went into consulting for clients like Lotus and Paragon, who built the Artega GT. As Autocar notes, Kalbfell "had an abiding sense that customers needed to be attracted to cars by their aura and reputation, not just their engineering." He will be missed.

BMW celebrates with M4 DTM Champion Edition

Tue, 21 Oct 2014

Go back just a few seasons, and Germany's DTM touring car series was a straight-up competition between Audi and Mercedes-Benz. But BMW rejoined the race in 2012, winning both the drivers' and constructors' titles on its first year back and celebrating with a special matte-black M3 DTM Champion Edition. Last season, it won the constructors' championship but not the drivers', and this year it did the opposite. In short, it's been an impressive comeback for the Bavarian automaker, and to celebrate this year's accomplishments, it's followed up with the new M4 DTM Champion Edition for Europe you see here.
Based on the new M4 coupe - which forms the basis for BMW's DTM challenger as well as its pace car - the Champion Edition is distinguished by its special livery: The orange grille frame, the matte black hood and trunk with multicolored stripes, the black stripes along its shoulder and rocker panel, and the blacked-out 19-inch wheels all to pay homage to champion Marco Wittmann's racecar, as does special lettering on the rear windows.
Other enhancements include black front splitter and skirts, carbon front flaps and mirror caps, rear spoiler and carbon diffuser, while autographed sill plates and carbon interior trim with the car's serial number adorn the cabin. Only 23 examples will be offered, symbolic of the number adorning the winning tin-top racer and the flank of this special edition as well.

BMW joins the early holiday advertising fray with three new ads

Thu, 06 Nov 2014

October 31 is no longer known as Halloween, or All Saints' Eve or even as that day when all children simultaneously develop huge cavities. It's now known as the day before Christmas/holiday advertising begins. Seriously, as of November 1, it seems like companies across the country and from every industry have declared open season on holiday ad campaigns. It's all premature enough that we're already feeling our inner Grinch showing, but at least some of the ads are better done than others.
Among them are new spots from BMW, which has arrived with this mini-campaign of three 30-second, Christmas-themed spots. There's a cameo from Santa Claus, who's at the helm of a sleek M6 Gran Coupe in one spot, while a 3 Series Gran Coupe slices through a slalom of Christmas trees in another. The final spot, called "Road Home", doesn't focus so much on the brand's "Ultimate Driving Machines," as it does the trip home for the holidays.
We've embedded all three videos below, so take a look and then let us know what you think of this seemingly perpetual holiday marketing calendar creep - and the BMW ads in particular - in Comments.
