1990 Bmw 325i Base Sedan 4-door 2.5l E30 on 2040-cars
Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, United States
Overview:
For sale is my 1990 BMW E30 4 Door Automatic. Black exterior, tan interior..in great condition for its age. It has been my daily driver for the past year or so. I drive it to/from work everyday. Lots of work done to refresh the engine and it is solid. Lots of fun to drive. I have owned the car for over 2 years and after the cooling issues were addressed, this Beemer has been trouble-free. I bought this car from a Firefighter/ex-BMW mechanic who owns many classic BMW's. He worked on it to get it back onto the road after it sat for a while and then sold it to me. I completed the process of bringing the car back to a safe, drive-able and nice looking condition. Details: - Black Exterior 6.5/10- scratches and a few dents..nothing bad but the trunk looks like a cat got in it an one of the previous owners tried to paint over it and did a bad job..doesn't bother me..see photo of trunk - Interior Tan Leather 7/10 - great condition EXCEPT drivers seat has a hole in it..passenger seat, back seats and door panels are in great shape...no rips - 99% rust free...a few "bubbles" around the sunroof - Air Conditioning & Heat (and it works!) - Working New OBD with time/temp - Has Dash cover to hide cracks..looks pretty good...fits very nicely - 4 new tires and the wheels are in great shape...very straight and the alignment is right on - Replaced all belts including the Timing Belt about 10 months ago - New Water Pump when the Timing Belt was replaced - New Cooling system with radiator, hoses, temp gauge, etc, this car WILL NOT overheat! - Has a small oil leak, I believe the oil filter is just not very tight...I add a quart of oil once a month - I added a center arm rest from an E46...pretty useful and fits nicely..see pics... - Black floor mats for an E46 that fit nicely - Odometer stopped working a while ago..should be over 200,000 considering that the car is almost 25 years old - Aftermarket Pioneer radio with pretty good speakers that are aftermarket as well - Automatic transmission, shifts very nice, no problems - Speedo works when it wants to...usually start working after 15 minutes of driving...Cruise Control works when Speedo works - Sunroof on the car..wont crank but all parts are there - Clean title in hand Conclusion: Overall, this is a great car that I love to drive. It is 25 years old so it is not perfect, but it has good acceleration, good brakes, looks classic and feels safe to drive. Every since the repairs were made to the engine and cooling system, it has not let me down. I drive it everyday about 35+ miles. I live in the South and A/C is crucial so I was happy to find an older BMW with A/C. You will not be dissapointed in buying this E30, especially since their values continue to rise. Finally, why am I selling it? I have a new position at my job that requires me to travel a lot and even though I could drive this car anywhere, I would prefer something newer with lower miles. Please feel free to ask questions. I will respond within 24 hours. |

BMW discussing new plant with Mexican authorities
Mon, 19 Aug 2013Drawn in by low wages and manufacturing costs, BMW could be the next automaker to set up a manufacturing facility in Mexico. Automotive News is reporting that the German automaker has had discussions with local Mexican governments regarding a possible assembly plant, but there is no word as to when a decision may come down. Last we heard, BMW was reportedly looking to build the 3 Series in Mexico.
A key determining factor for this new plant is a free-trade agreement between the US and Europe, which according to the article, would give BMW better "flexibility and cost structure" to open another plant in North America. In terms of luxury automakers, Audi is currently building a new plant in Mexico and Mercedes-Benz is considering opening one in conjunction with Nissan for the CLA-Class, and in the bigger picture, Honda and Mazda are also preparing to kick off vehicle production in Mexico.
Tier 1 suppliers call GM the worst OEM to work with
Mon, 12 May 2014Among automakers with a big US presence, General Motors is the worst to work for, according to a new survey from Tier 1 automotive suppliers, conducted by Planning Perspectives, Inc.
The Detroit-based manufacturer, which has been under fire following the ignition switch recall and its accompanying scandal, finished behind six other automakers with big US manufacturing operations. Suppliers had issues with trust and communications, as well as intellectual property protection. GM was also the least likely to allow suppliers to raise their prices in the face of unexpected increases in material cost, all of which contributed to 55 percent of suppliers saying their relationship with GM was "poor to very poor."
GM's cross-town competitors didn't fare much better. Chrysler finished in fifth place, ahead of GM and behind Dearborn-based Ford, which was passed for third place this year by Nissan. Toyota took the top marks, while Honda captured second place.
BMW X5 eDrive Concept is utilitarian plug-in hybrid
Tue, 10 Sep 2013Bridging the gap between internal combustion engine-powered vehicles and electric vehicles are plug-in hybrids, and BMW has made one out of its biggest sports utility vehicle, even if it's just a concept car at this point. The plug-in hybrid X5 eDrive Concept debuted today at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and it sits attached to a charge port on the show floor.
As we reported in August, the X5 eDrive Concept combines a turbocharged four-cylinder engine of unknown output with a 95-horsepower electric motor, to achieve longer range and lower emissions. The X5 eDrive can drive up to 75 miles per hour and 19 miles on electric power alone, manage about 62 miles per gallon (3.8 liters per 100 kilometers) and accelerate from 0-62 mph in under seven seconds, according to BMW.
Three drive modes are offered: one that automatically operates the hybrid system, an all-electric mode and a Save Battery mode that operates the vehicle using the engine only.
