1976 BMW 2002,  is in gorgeous condition, always garage kept, no smoking, no pets, and used mainly as a weekend driver. The car is extremely fun to drive, and has been running smoothly since the day I got it and handles like a dream. The car has been giving lots of care and many improvements. The engine is in fantastic condition with low miles, engine was redone and taken care of professionally. Bid with confidence.

History, I am the third owner. Previous owner did extensive work to the vehicle over the twelve years he had and maintained it. On top of some of the improvements he added to the car I went ahead and put in AC, new wheels, interior headliner, and various touch ups. The interior seats were completely reupholstered black, but I wanted to restore them to the original tan colors. I had a new headliner completely done in tan but ran out of time for the seats, so had the seats painted tan ($900). CD player was added with the intention of a full sound system being put in. All wires can be reconnected and ready to go but new speakers should be installed.

The vehicle is a thing of beauty but I will no longer have anywhere to keep it or time to enjoy it. Below is a list of things that have been restored and upgraded:

Exterior
  • Bare metal refinished done in 2002; two stage base coat, clear coat process done in the original Malaga color using PPG paint was done. Retouch was completed just last month.
  • All exterior chrome and door protector trim was replaced during the paint process
  • New mirrors and door handles
  • All new weather stripping and new front and rear windshields
  • Sunroof seal replaced
  • Rocker panels were resealed and finished in original form
  • OG 15inch chrome rims with Yokohama sport tires ($1000) with less than 3,000 miles on them
  • Stainless steel muffler exhaust
  • The four original tires can be placed in the trunk if requested. Many miles still left on those tires
Interior
  • Original Recaro seats reupholstered in black (no horse hair)
  • All new tan headliner
  • AC was installed and is in perfect working order, blows very cool air ($2600)
  • Carpet was replaced with one piece molded kit from Worldwide Upholstery
  • Dash board is original and crack free
  • MOMO steering wheel added
  • MOMO shift handle knob added
  • Auto meter gauges for oil pressure and coolant temperature added
  • New front and rear door panels (OE from BMW and probably some of the last ever made, cost over $1000)
  • Sunroof was in working order up until about a month ago, motor may need replacement
Suspension
  • Front struts have been updated to Tii struts ($300 each from BMW) to accommodate the bigger breaks
  • New Bilstein sport shocks in front and rear
  • Eibach front and rear springs
  • Ground-Control adjustable front struts (tender spring style)
  • Full poly bushings in the entire car (every last rubber bushing has been upgraded)
  • Ground-Control adjustable front camber plates
  • Dinan adjustable rear subframe
Drivetrain
  • Custom five speed conversion; shortened, balanced driveshaft, new center support and flex plate
  • BMW sport clutch (less than 1k miles on the clutch)
  • New fuel filter

Car is sold as is. No warranty. No returns. Sale is finale.

2015 BMW X4 gets its small-screen debut

Thu, 26 Jun 2014

It's easy to dismiss the 2015 BMW X4. On one hand, the high-style crossover seems more like a boardroom decision than a practical one. In a world with the 3 Series, 4 Series, X3, 3 Series GT and 4 Series Gran Coupe, is BMW really being inundated with requests for a baby X6? Of course, when we finally got behind the wheel of the CUV for our First Drive, it proved rather entertaining, and certainly the X6's global sales success suggests that it's worth the relatively low-cost risk for the Bavarian automaker.
Now, it's the general public's chance to weigh in on the latest crossover Bimmer and vote with their dollars. The X4 is just hitting showrooms in the US, and BMW is beginning its marketing campaign for it with the slogan "Embrace the Unknown." The first TV ad shows off the CUV driving through the world's major cities as they undulate like the rolling ocean. A woman flatly says phrases starting with "Go," while a synth-heavy score plays underneath that wouldn't be out of place over the end credits in an '80s sci-fi movie.
Visually, it's actually kind of a cool ad and evokes some of the special effects from Inception. Focusing on an urban atmosphere is probably a good idea, too, because the percentage of X4s going offroad is likely to be in the low single digits, if that. Now, let's see if BMW buyers are willing to embrace the unknown of the X4. Scroll down to watch it for yourself.

2014 BMW X5 configurator goes live

Sun, 28 Jul 2013

BMW won't begin selling the 2014 X5 for another few months, but the German manufacturer has brought the third-generation SAV's configurator online, allowing interested customers to poke around and look at the X5's optional goodies.
Like the 3 Series, the X5 is available in a number of lines that load up extras automatically. There's also a do-it-yourself truck that allows owners to pick and choose if they're not enamored with the styling or trim of one of the dedicated packages. As usual, the options list is quite vast, regardless of which line is chosen. We were able to easily take the new, rear-drive X5 sDrive35i, which started at $52,800, and bring the total price up past $80,000.
The new X5 carries over its 4.4-liter, twin-turbo V8 from the current model, as well as BMW's excellent 3.0-liter, turbocharged inline-six. The X5 xDrive35d, with the 3.0-liter turbodiesel will also be available on the third-generation SUV, but won't hit dealers until early 2014. BMW is stepping outside of the X5's usual bounds, offering a dedicated rear-drive model, available with all the same trimmings as the xDrive vehicles. Head over to BMW's US consumer page and have a go.

2014 BMW R NineT

Tue, 26 Aug 2014

BMW is taking a page from the Harley-Davidson playbook with its groundbreaking R NineT. A retro cafe racer with an urban hooligan twist, the bike is fully customizable from fork to exhaust. Of course, any motorcycle can be customized, but the fact that BMW has built its newest bike to encourage modification using parts that can be swapped with simple tools is a radical move for a motorcycle maker best known for its plug-and-play touring bikes.
To underscore exactly how radical, BMW has even partnered with custom heavy-hitter Roland Sands Design, which developed the initial concept for the bike and is now manufacturing a full line of parts and accessories for the R NineT, including radial valve covers ($950), retro racing saddles ($400-$420), radial gauge housing ($400) and a radial headlight bezel ($250), among other things, all of which can be swapped with a socket wrench or screwdriver instead of a hacksaw, wire cutters and TIG welder.
Alas, the bike I tested for two weeks was stock, so consider it a blank canvas.
