1986 Alpha Romeo Graduate on 2040-cars
Sacramento, California, United States
This auction is for a 1986 Alpha Romeo Spider with a Quadrifoglio hard top.
Alpha Romeo has been building new cars since the beginning of the 20th Century. It continues this day to produce classic designs with overtly sporty characteristics. he new Spider was introduced in 1966 to replace the aging Giulietta Spider model. It was designed and built by Pininfarina and was based on the Giulia 105 series chassis with a shortened wheelbase. It became and American classic after release of the 1967 film The Graduate, starring Dustin Hoffman. In 1970 the round tail was replaced by the Kamm style cut-off tail as well as with other numerous small changes, both inside and out, such as new door handles and improved interior trim. With changes along the way, this model continued in production until 1994. This classy, sporty 1986 Alpha Romeo Spider has been cared for by the same owner since 1990. The first owner sold it when a family car was needed after he married and had a child. Under the hood is a 1962cc????? engine producing 132 bhp?????? with a 5 speed manual transmission. Red exterior, black vinyl interior. Options include power side mirrors, pop-off battery connection for easy storage, snow chains, and Alpine AM FM radio and CD player (to be installed) with remote. The red Quadrifoglio hard top makes this vehicle particularly desirable. (The original soft top is included but has not been in use for several years, has deteriorated, and should be replaced if soft top driving is desired.) This original engine runs beautifully; the car runs and drives well. This is a great classic Italian Sports Car with a modern touch. "Someone who chooses Alpha Romeo is choosing a car like no other" |

Marchionne on Alfa's US return, Dodge Dart's powertrain weakness and minivan plans
Fri, 18 Jan 2013As a reporter covering an auto show, the one opportunity you never want to miss is going to the Sergio Marchionne press briefing.
"This undertaking to bring Alfa back is a one-shot deal... We are not going to do this twice."
There just aren't that many real characters left in the auto industry. Marchionne, who sits atop both Chrysler and Fiat, is not only one of the smartest execs in the business, but also the most frank. Herein, a sample of the quotable always-sweatered executive:
Porsche 911 Turbo and Nissan GT-R Nismo star in World's Greatest Drag Race 4
Fri, 26 Sep 2014We love Motor Trend's annual World's Greatest Drag Race video. Now back for its fourth appearance, the idea of lining some of the world's fastest cars up for a ten-wide, straight-line, full-throttle run is, well... it's pretty freaking badass.
The lineup this year boasts some impressively fast cars to be sure. The group of ten includes the following darlings: Alfa Romeo 4C, BMW i8, BMW M4, Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, Ford Fiesta ST, Jaguar F-Type R Coupe, Nissan GT-R Nismo, Porsche 911 Turbo S, Subaru WRX STI and, last but not least, the Volkswagen GTI. Give us any one of those for the weekend, and we're happy to take the keys.
It must be said though, that for a publication that draws as much water as Motor Trend does, there are some big cars that we might expect to be here instead. The Lamborghini Huracán or Ferrari 458 Speciale would have added some exotic flare to the list, and the omissions of the Chevy Corvette Stingray (for the second year in a row) and the Dodge Challenger Hellcat are real head-scratchers.
Just 45% of Fiat dealers are profitable, and they're angry about it
Mon, 07 Oct 2013<
On average, Fiat dealers have only been selling about 17 cars a month.
We've been wondering for some time how Fiat dealers in North America have been getting along with just one model range in their showrooms up until recently. Franchisees spent millions building, stocking and manning sleek new 'studio' showrooms, only to have but a single model to sell, the cherubic 500. And even with its many derivatives, the Cinquecento is still an inexpensive model with its attendant lower margins. Perhaps it should come as no surprise then, that just 45 percent of US Fiat dealers are said to be profitable.
