Motor was replaced about 10 years ago (25,000 miles back). Clutch was replaced at the same time. Engine is from a newer year but same model (probably 1976). Motor is strong and runs smoothly. Transmission is also good. Sometimes it grinds when downshifting from 3rd to 2nd gear, a common issue with this model but it is not too bad. A simple clutch synchro service would fix this.

Car has 4 brand new tires (99% new). Wheels have been professionally refurbished (sandblasted and powder coated) and look brand new. Seats and convertible top are also in like-new condition. Dashboard top has a couple of cracks. A black suede cover elegantly placed over it covers the cracks and adds a sporty feel to it.

There are minor aging marks around the car, nothing very noticeable except for the trunk cover where the paint show light cobwebbing but also not bad.

Simply put, this car is in very good condition considering the age. I would say 8/10. No known mechanical issues, just fill up with gas and drive it 1000 miles.

On average, Fiat dealers have only been selling about 17 cars a month.
We've been wondering for some time how Fiat dealers in North America have been getting along with just one model range in their showrooms up until recently. Franchisees spent millions building, stocking and manning sleek new 'studio' showrooms, only to have but a single model to sell, the cherubic 500. And even with its many derivatives, the Cinquecento is still an inexpensive model with its attendant lower margins. Perhaps it should come as no surprise then, that just 45 percent of US Fiat dealers are said to be profitable.

Sergio Marchionne and his Fiat empire have a lot riding on the US return of the Alfa Romeo brand. The endeavor has been in progress for what feels like a lifetime - certainly for as long as Fiat has had the Chrysler brand under its Italian wing.
It's not surprising that Fiat CEO Marchionne needs a perfect first Alfa to mark a return to America. And here's where things get dicey. Nobody would argue with Marchionne's insistence that Alfa Romeo's be powered by Italian engines - as Marchionne himself is quoted to have said at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, "There are some things that are well done in Italy."
If not what he said, then, it's how he said it that has eyebrows raised. "I cannot come up with a schlock product, I just won't. I won't put an American engine into that car. With all due respect to my American friends, it needs to be a wop engine." Wait, what's that?

After adding Italian motorcycle icon Ducati to its stable and spending $5.6 billion on the rest of Porsche, Volkswagen CEO Martin Winterkorn says he's done shopping for a while.
"We have enough to do at the moment in taking our twelve brands to where we want to be," Winterkorn tells German newspaper Handelsblatt.
