We're selling our 2004 Volvo XC90 T6 with AWD - second owner.  Only selling due to a longer commute to work and we bought a smaller vehicle for mileage.  This Volvo has honestly been the most comfortable vehicle we've ever owned and sad to see it go.  Equipped with factory optional 18" wheels, AM/FM/CD - 6 disc, power seats, power windows - auto up/down for front windows, power mirrors, auto dimming rear view mirror, leather seats and front/rear fog lights.

Below is all the maintenance we've done since owning:

  • Oil change as recommended from the factory: 5W-30 Semi-Synthetic every 7,500 miles
  • Around 120,000 miles we replace the exhaust -  Cat-Back
  • Around 150,000 miles we replaced all four tires and front brake pads/rotors
  • At 153,605 miles we replaced the water pump, timing belt & thermostat
  • At 157,362 miles we had the exhaust checked and belt checked
  • Around 165,000 miles we replaced the front tires due a patch no longer holding, checked to make sure front and rear treads were within AWD specification.
  • Around 165,000 miles we replaced the shocks and struts
  • At 169,795 miles we replaced the heater core hoses and rear brake pads/rotors
  • Will include Carfax with service records from original owner (Carfax ran 8/18/14)
Drive:  Ride is very comfortable and drives great. City 17-19 mpg, Highway 20-23 mpg
Interior: The leather is in excellent condition and was conditioned annually. Only thing that does not work is the rear passenger interior door handle (works from the outside).
Exterior:  Overall good condition, no rust.  Power folding mirrors work. Few door dings from the parking garage at work.
Other:  During engine warm up (car will idle at 1,500 rpm for roughly 20 seconds) the belt squeaks.  Key Fob does not flip out the key and it no longer secured shut (still works)

Recently drove from Michigan to Key West and back with no problems.

Please feel free to call or text with questions.  Through the week I'll be adding more photos.  Labor day weekend I will be out of town but will do my best to respond to any questions.

AB Volvo lands a big order for electric commercial trucks

Fri, Oct 8 2021

STOCKHOLM — Volvo Trucks has received an order for 100 electric trucks from shipping firm DFDS, its biggest commercial electric truck order to date, the Swedish truck maker said on Wednesday. Volvo Trucks, AB Volvo's main truck brand, said the order was one of the largest ever for heavy electric trucks worldwide, adding that deliveries would start in the fourth quarter of 2022. The FM Electric trucks, which have a range of up to 300 kilometers (186 miles), will be used for both short and long transport in Europe. Volvo, which started serial production of electric trucks in 2019, is targeting for half of its global truck deliveries to be electric in 2030. "We are pleased to see that growing interest among our customers is starting to be reflected in firm orders," Volvo Trucks President Roger Alm said in a statement. A 'green' shift in the transport sector, which generates roughly a quarter of global carbon dioxide emissions, is widely seen as important to help align with global climate goals.   Green Volvo Truck Commercial Vehicles Electric

These are the top luxury cars bought by people entering the segment for the first time

Fri, 25 Jul 2014

Let's say you just got a big promotion at work or the kids are moving out of the house, and you finally have some extra money. You decide to blow it all at once and treat yourself by upgrading your ride. Naturally, you look to a luxury automaker. What do you choose?
Models like the Audi A3 and Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class may be tailor-made to introduce buyers to the premium segment, but a new study finds that they don't garner the highest rates of non-luxury customer conquests. It turns out that a Volvo leads among folks moving up to a premium brand, and it isn't even one that's made anymore, at that.
A recent study by Polk and IHS Automotive looked at what models had the highest rates of buyers upgrading from a non-luxury segment. The information comes from its new vehicle registration data through April 2014. All ten top models boasted conquest rates of over 50 percent, but the Volvo C70 led the field with 68.01 percent of its customers coming from non-premium brands.

Junkyard Gem: 1969 Volvo 145 Wagon

Sun, Oct 24 2021

Volvo managed to sell the 1940s-design PV544 and its 1950s-design Amazon descendant all the way into the mid-to-late 1960s in the United States, but those iconic machines were replaced here by one that began a line of even more iconic Volvos: the 140 Series. Starting with the 1968 model year, the 140 became available in the United States as a two-door sedan (the 142), a four-door sedan (the 144 and 164), and a station wagon (the 145). These rear-wheel-drive, brick-shaped cars later evolved into the 200 Series and its heirs, with the very last of the breed appearing here in the form of the 1998 S90/V90. That's a lot of history all wrapped up in one vehicle, and so I was pleased to find this 145 in a Denver-area car graveyard earlier this month. This car rolled out of Goteborg with a gleaming coat of Morkgron (dark green) paint and, according to this build tag, was built to California specifications. At some point, it made its way to Colorado. Very few US-market cars had six-digit odometers prior to the middle 1980s, but Volvo felt optimistic about their cars' longevity (at a time when reaching the magical 100,000-mile mark was something that rarely happened with non-Mercedes-Benz vehicles) and so now we can see that this car made it well past 200k miles. The 2.0-liter pushrod four-cylinder engine in this car can trace its ancestry back to the Amazons, P1800s, and PV544s of the early 1960s, and it was rated at 115 horsepower. A six-cylinder version of the 140 sedan, known as the 164, could be purchased here as well (though it had few American takers). But wait— what's that Detroit-looking two-barrel carburetor doing on an engine that's supposed to have a Stromberg 175? Yes, it's a GM-spec Rochester clone built at the ancient Bay City Plant (now known as GM Powertrain) in Michigan. Earlier Volvos came with a pair of British-made Skinner Union sidedrafts, which could be pretty painful to keep working right, but perhaps even the less-oddball Stromberg proved too much hassle for whoever installed this carb (which was meant to go on engines with much more displacement than a Volvo B20). Transmission choices in the 1969 140: a four-on-the-floor manual or a three-speed automatic. This car has the manual. The interior is pretty thrashed, as is usually the case with the 140s I find during my junkyard explorations.
