Volvo V70 2006 2,978 Original Miles! Flood Water Damage Salvage on 2040-cars
Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey, United States
RARE FIND! ONLY 2,978 ORIGINAL MILES! FLOOD/WATER DAMAGE VEHICLE! Vehicle runs and drives excellent ! Damage: From what I was told was, this vehicle was a nanny car left at a beach house for vacation use only. Great car for a hands on individual to go through and have a practically new vehicle. Engine runs fine, however the SRS(airbag light and check engine lights are lit on the dashboard. The drivers seat reclines but does not slide front and back, stereo functions along with the fan , lights, windows, central remote locking system etc. Buyer will obviously need to remove the interior to correct the issues with the drivers seat and dry out any moisture between the carpeting and floorboards. The passenger seat is manual.Vehicle does not have any ugly odor from the water incident. I would say the best way to repair the seat would be to purchase a used junkyard seat and swap over the tracks/electronics. The rear wiper arm is missing and the right rear tail lamp is cracked. Equipped: 2.4 liter engine, auto trans with "W" winter mode, leather interior, heated front seats, power moon roof, headlamp washers, 16" alloys with Michelin tires, wood trim, 3RD row seating etc. Vin # is posted if you would like to run a Auto Check or Carfax to verify the mileage. Vehicle is being sold in condition "AS IS!" with a New York salvage certificate MV907A. Please check your local salvage laws before bidding. I can arrange shipping at a reasonable rate. I can also assist overseas buyers with export arrangements. Contact Allen 201-248-3818. I can arrange to have this vehicle repaired at an additional cost as well as going through the salvage exam process. |

2015 Volvo XC90 mule spotted testing in the snow
Thu, 21 Mar 2013The Volvo XC90 was a big step for the Swedish automaker in 2003, but the midsize crossover has changed very little since its introduction. All that's about to change as Volvo starts its initial development on the 2015 XC90, which we see for the first time in these spy shots showing a cobbled-together XC70.
Like the current XC90, the next-generation model will be both longer and wider than the XC70 - judging by the modifications made to this mule's body - which will continue to allow Volvo's flagship crossover and provide three rows of seating. The next XC90 will ride on a new platform that will eventually make up around two-thirds of all Volvo sales, called the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA).
Our shooter managed to find out the registration number for this mule, which indicated that it was powered by a five-cylinder diesel, but we expect the automaker to start stepping away from its current powertrains with a big push toward smaller engines courtesy of the new Volvo Engine Architecture (VEA). Rumor has it that the future engine lineup for the XC90 will rely heavily on turbocharged four-cylinder engines and eight-speed automatic transmissions, which will likely eliminate or lessen some of the current mills available like a straight-six or V8.
Junkyard Gem: 1976 Volvo 244 DL
Sun, Sep 1 2024Volvo did well enough selling the PV444/544, Amazon and 140 in the United States, but it was the Volvo 200 Series that really launched Goteborg iron into the American big time. Introduced here as a 1975 model, the 200 stayed in production for nearly two full decades and remains the most instantly recognizable Swedish car ever made. Here's an early-production 244, found in a Denver-area car graveyard not long ago. The 200 Series could be considered an update of the late-1960s-vintage 140 Series, since it's essentially the same car from the A pillars back. The main difference between the two is the MacPherson strut front suspension in the 200 Series. Volvo went through several naming systems for U.S.-market 200 Series cars over the decades, with the initial one being the easiest to decipher: a three-digit number followed by a two-character trim-level designation. The first digit in the number represents the series, the second represents the number of engine cylinders and the third the number of doors. There were six-cylinder 262s, 264s and 265s sold in the United States from 1976 through 1981, powered by the same PRV V6 engine that went into the DeLorean DMC-12, so it's incorrect to refer to all 200 Series Volvos as 240s. This car is the best-selling member of the 200 family, with a four-cylinder engine and four doors. This is a fuel-injected 2.1-liter SOHC straight-four, rated at 98 horsepower and 110 pound-feet; the 1975 240s received the 2.0-liter pushrod engine from the 140. There were two transmissions available in the 1976 240s: a four-speed manual or a three-speed automatic. This car has the automatic. Even thought it's a base DL model, this car's first owner paid an extra $456 for air conditioning (about $2,580 in 2024 dollars), on top of the $500 premium for the automatic transmission ($2,829 after inflation). That pushed the cost for the car up to $7,551, or $42,717 in today's money. You could get a swanky new 1976 Buick Electra Limited four-door hardtop for just $6,852, but those sensible Volvo buyers knew it was worth paying a premium for genuine Scandinavian safety and build quality. European-market headlights were strictly forbjuden on American roads during the early Malaise Era, according to federal safety regulations, so Volvo had to install these unsightly sealed-beam rigs on their cars here.
Volvo and Ericsson to take Spotify on the road
Thu, 27 Dec 2012Volvo is working to bring Spotify to its vehicles. Ericsson has announced it will provide its Connected Vehicle Cloud service to Volvo for future products, and Spotify streaming music is part of that service. Like Toyota Entune and other infotainment services, the Connected Vehicle Cloud will use the driver's smartphone as a modem to stream music and serve as a base for other applications, all of which will be controllable through the vehicle interface. Expect to see the service launch in 2014, though Ericsson stresses later generations will feature an embedded modem with its own SIM card that will piggyback off of the owner's phone data plan.
But that system won't show up in production vehicles until at least 2016. In the interim, Ericsson says it will continue to work with government agencies on its car-to-car communication efforts. That program could eventually help pave the way toward autonomous road trains capable of helping vehicles travel safely together while also reducing traffic congestion. Wired has a full break down of the Connected Vehicle Cloud strategy. You can read it here.
