2013 Volvo C30 Polestar Limited Edition #88 Of 250 (similar To Vw Golf Gti) on 2040-cars
Westford, Massachusetts, United States
The C30 is Volvo's version of the VW Golf. This Polestar Edition
(6-speed manual transmission) of the C30 is analogous to the GTI version
of the Golf. It has more horsepower (250) and torque (273) than both
the current GTI and the new generation model that is coming out later
this year. This is truly a sports car as when you hit the gas, the
turbo engages immediately and you can feel your body being pushed back
into the seat by the near instant torque boost.. This is one (#88) of
only 250 of this Polestar Limited Edition made for sale in the US. The
car was purchased new in October of 2013. I am selling it with only
7,000 miles on it as I unexpectedly lost my job and the mortgage takes
priority over a sports car (obviously).
This car is a combination of sports and luxury. In addition to the turbocharged, specially tuned engine, it has all your typical luxury options, including heated leather seats, driver and passenger power seats, auto climate control, active xenon headlights, power heated mirrors, extra high quality audio system, and power moonroof, Additional options include blind spot information system (BLIS), black alloy wheels, bluetooth for phone and streaming audio, and a number of unique Volvo-only features, such as an Air Quality sensor that automatically switches from outside air to inside air when exhaust fumes are detected in the outside air. See the link below for a full description of this C30 Polestar. This car comes with the full remainder of the 50,000 mile / 4 year factory warranty. And, the first three scheduled-maintenance services (10, 20, 30K miles) are free at any Volvo dealer. Also included are a set of winter floor mats and a new pair of winter wiper blades. And, I can tell you that the all-season tires on the car performed great in this past winter's snow. You can use these year-round and really don't have to buy a set of winter tires. Please note that the starting bid price of $27,500 is 20% off the original sticker price of $34,000. And, the car has been registered / on the road for only 7 months. |

Volvo's European EX30 launch plagued by software issues, refunds
Tue, Jul 2 2024Are we ready to include crippling software problems in electric vehicles part of "the new normal?" If so, we'd think little of it. We're most surprised by Volvo being the reason for asking the question. The Swedes had to postpone production of their flagship 2025 EX90 due to software issues. Then, after crowing about starting production, we find out the automaker's informed buyers that their EX90's might not be complete upon delivery, waiting for over-the-air updates to restore functionality that buyers of an $80,000 would expect to come with their vehicle. Overseas, the EX30 appears to be in even more trouble, its software reminding us of the problems Volkswagen had with its ID.3 and Chevy had with its Blazer EV on launch. Autocar reports that the glitches "range from screens going black and steering-wheel buttons not responding to cars not charging and even emergency braking systems randomly activating," as well as "bricked infotainment touchscreens, incorrect information displayed (such as time and range), profiles reverting back to factory settings and driver aids failing." Some customers are reportedly returning their cars to Volvo for full refunds. The automaker told Autocar the EX30 remains on sale, but in the UK, Volvo's pushed online shoppers to the 2025 model; the 2025 EX30 launches July 8, Volvo said. The configurator at Volvo's UK site advisers visitors, "EX30 Model Year 2024 is no longer available for new configurations. However you are welcome to browse our stock cars." At the time of writing, we did not find any similar notice on the Volvo sites for France, Germany, or Sweden. A poster on a UK forum for EX30 owners wrote to another member that ordering's been disabled on the UK site for three months. And it's a popular model. Volvo has more than 35,000 units in Europe through the end of May, making it the third-best-selling selling EV there after the Tesla Model Y and Model 3. Every new car comes with its share of hiccups. Based on checking forums, owners seem thoroughly pleased with the EX30's build quality. The hiccups here and in general with EVs is that their primary issues trace back to software (on top of the usual mechanical issues all vehicles face). On that UK forum for EX30 owners, the Recent Topics tab is peppered with threads about problems with the hatchback, the Faults & Technical section contains 85 individual topics (some of which are undoubtedly duplicates or misplaced).
Junkyard Gem: 1982 Volvo 244 DL
Sat, Jul 9 2022Because it was sold in the United States for so many years — 19 model years, to be exact — and won the hearts of so many American drivers with its reliability and safety, sufficient examples of the Volvo 200 Series remain in service that they continue to show up in self-service car graveyards nearly 30 years after the last ones left the showroom. We saw a low-mile Richelieu Red 1983 Volvo 244 DL in a Denver-area yard last year, and now I've found a near-identical 1982 244 DL in another yard located between Denver and Cheyenne. Volvo went through several variations in the naming scheme for these cars between 1975 and 1993; during the first half of the 1980s, the 240 was badged using just the trim level. That makes this car a 1982 Volvo DL, the cheapest trim level available at the time. By now, though, everyone who knows old Volvos uses the three-number system of the 1970s, with the second digit indicating the number of engine cylinders and the third digit representing the number of doors. I'll be using the 244 designation here. This car came from the factory with a fuel-injected 2.1-liter SOHC straight-four rated at 112 horsepower. This car has the base four-on-the-floor manual transmission with an overdrive selected via the switch on the shift knob. If you wanted an automatic transmission, you had to pay an extra $325 (just over a thousand bucks in 2022 money). Later in the decade, a five-speed manual became available on the 240. Most 240s rack up better than 200,000 miles during their careers (and I've seen quite a few that made it past 300,000), but this car didn't reach that figure. This car still has its original AM/FM/cassette radio, which would have cost serious money in 1982. The MSRP on this car was $10,260, or about $31,800 in 2022 dollars. The two-door version went for $9,785 ($30,330 now). You could get a new 1982 Buick LeSabre Limited sedan for $9,331, and it was much roomier and more powerful than the VolvoÂ… but not as good in a crash. There's very little rust on this car, and the only serious body damage is this dented passenger-side door. The rodent nesting detritus under the hood and the lack of wear on the seat fabric suggests that it got parked for good a decade or three back. Perhaps it would have been rescued and revived in the rustier parts of the continent, but there's a glut of restorable 244s and a shortage of Volvo enthusiasts in the Denver area. 2015 Volvo Inscription models get classy with an upgraded leather interior
Thu, 17 Apr 2014If Volvo's recent spate of cool-looking concepts is any indication, the Swedish brand has some great new styling on the way. But it takes time for new vehicles to come to market. In the meantime, Volvo is livening up some of its interiors with an updated Inscription Package on the 2015 XC60 (pictured above) and S80 debuting at the 2014 New York Auto Show.
The Inscription models see mostly interior improvements with Sovereign Hide leather covering the seats and more leather for the instrument panels, seatbacks, center armrests and embroidered headrests. Inlaid wood acts as decorative trim, and there are plush, new floor mats. Exterior changes are limited to the choice of colors, namely Crystal White Pearl, Electric Silver and - exclusively for the S80 - Ember Black. The XC60 Inscription comes with 20-inch, ten-spoke wheels, and the S80 receives 19-inch versions.
The package's changes are fairly small, but it adds a certain amount of opulence to the models until the new Volvos are ready. Scroll down to read the full details about them.
