Well my wife says it's time to "upgrade" to a minivan so the wagon has to go.  We bought this wagon back in 2011 from a Volvo salesman- it was his personal car.  He had all of the work done at the dealership and we have had it done there or at an independent shop that specializes in Volvos.  The car looks great and is very fast for a wagon;  you can really feel the turbocharger kick in.  The title is clear and the car is ready to drive anywhere.  Here is what you are getting:

The Good:
Great looking paint!  While there are some small scratches here and there (see photos) I have kept the paint in great condition.  I have only used Zaino products on it which has given the car a very deep gloss/shine.  No rust at all on this vehicle!

This car has awesome power for a wagon.  The turbo charger is quite nice.

Large 17" factory option wheels- really shine up nice- see photos

Great tires: I put Bridgestone Potenza tires on it.  They are big, low profile, and fat = great traction.  No issues in the snow either as long as you put the car in the "slick pavement" setting.  Yes the car has a special setting for rain/snow.

Leather Seats: The front ones are heated and they adjust like you would not believe.  The drivers side can memorize two set positions so multiple drivers can adjust with the push of a button.

Fold Down Third Row Seat- rear facing

Deep Tint: This is from the factory and looks great.

WeatherTech Floor Liner for the rear hatch back area-  Laser cut and made in the USA

All Synthetic fluids used in the car and K&N oil filters are used.

New Parts since I've owned it:

K&N Air Filter
Hitch
Volvo Brand Cross Bars- not pictured but they are included so you can mount bikes, kayaks, ski equipment, etc to the top of the car.
Radiator
New Tires in Oct 2012- Bridgestone Potenza with Nitrogen Fill
New Alarm System
Back in March, the oil pump went out on the expressway and the engine threw a rod, so it was replaced with a used one with about 85,000 miles on it.  When this was done, all lines were replaced and fluids were flushed.
New Throttle Body
Water pump
Timing Belt
Motor Mounts
Brakes
Turbo Rebuilt
Vapor Box and all lines involved
HID Headlight
CEM Unit
New Wiper Blades all Around: Front, Rear, and Headlight- yes it has wipers for the headlights!

Issues with the Car:
- My daughter decided to use the CD player as a piggy bank.  I've talked to an installer and they said this is common (they see 1-2 of that issue a week lol) and usually the unit just needs to be removed and the coins shook out.  I've priced them on ebay and they usually run about $40 dollars so worst case scenario is getting one on here.

-About once a week one of the headlights will go out, you just toggle the switch and it comes back on.  This has been happening since I bought it and I never had it looked into.

- Once a year it has had a hard time starting and then the check engine light comes on.  I have taken it both to the dealer one year and an independent shop the next and each time they said it was just a dirty wiring harness.  Once they cleaned it everything was fine.

- I only have one key and the "switch blade" feature doesn't work on it.

- The driver's side rear seat has a crease in it from having a baby car seat latched in it for so long.  It has been getting better over time with it out, but I imagine that will always be in there to some degree.  See photo

- The rear bumper cover is faded and scratched.  I have tried all sorts of products to help it but they have not helped much.  See photo

- The hatch area does have some dog hair in it.  I took a lint roller to it and that helped alot but it will probably take a couple of more applications to get it all out.  It's short, white dalmatian hairs... :)

Great looking car and I'm selling it below blue book value.  If you have any questions please feel free to ask, but do so before you buy the car!

Car will also come with:
Volvo Cross Bars
Extra K&N Oil Filter
Light Bulb Set- All light bulbs for the back of the car- I ordered these when they were on sale and they were never needed.

All sales are final
Car must be picked up- I will not ship.
Sold As Is
I have done my best to describe the car.  Please ask questions.
I will probably put about 10 more miles on it before it is sold as I'm going to take it for one last wash before it goes.

Volvo ditches leather in its EVs for 'Nordico' and wool blends

Thu, Sep 23 2021

Volvo is putting its stake in the sand when it comes to leather in its EVs. Essentially, there will be none of it. This move comes out of concern around the environmental impacts of cattle farming, as livestock is responsible for a big slice of greenhouse gas emissions. The move away from leather was touched on when Volvo revealed its new C40 electric crossover, but now Volvo is telling us exactly what it’s replacing the cowhides with. The main replacement is something Volvo calls “Nordico.” ItÂ’s a material designed and created by Volvo, and the company hopes it becomes the “new standard for premium interior design.” WhatÂ’s Nordico made out of, you ask? Volvo says it consists of textiles produced from recycled PET bottles, recycled cork and “bio-attributed material” sourced from forests in Sweden and Finland. Nordico is set to make an appearance in the “next generation of Volvo models,” so expect to see it rolling into dealers on new Volvo EVs soon. In addition to Nordico, Volvo says it will continue to offer its wool blend interior options. Volvo specifically calls out that it uses wool that is certified to be sourced responsibly in the wool supply chain for the sake of animal welfare. Beyond that, Volvo is continuing to research even more materials it could use as seat and interior coverings to replace or simulate leather — weÂ’re just not sure what those materials will be just yet. “Being a progressive car maker means we need to address all areas of sustainability, not just CO2 emissions,” says Stuart Templar, director of global sustainability at Volvo Cars. “Responsible sourcing is an important part of that work, including respect for animal welfare. Going leather-free inside our pure electric cars is a good next step towards addressing this issue.” Volvo isnÂ’t calling the entire interior “vegan” at this point, though. ItÂ’s planning on reducing the use of products from livestock in its plastics, rubber, lubricants and adhesives, but the cars arenÂ’t totally devoid of reliance on animals yet.  Related video: This content is hosted by a third party. Electrify Expo is an all-electrified auto show like the old days

Sun, Aug 6 2023

In late July, Autoblog swung by Washington, D.C. to check out the Electrify Expo. Now in its third year of nationwide shows, the Electrify Expo calls itself “North America's largest electric vehicle festival filled with over 1 million square feet of the world's top electric brands.” At every stop, visitors can find out about, crawl around in, drive and ride just about any personal conveyance that uses a battery for propulsion. Truth be told, when the show's PR team reached out to us with an invite, we only considered going after finding out about an area showcasing battery-electric tuner cars. EV tuning is undoubtedly going to be huge—eventually—which got us curious about these early days. We figured weÂ’d brave whatever the rest of the expo was to find out whatÂ’s the equivalent of nitrous for a Tesla. See, the EV event scene is still such that one never knows if theyÂ’ll show up to a mix of science and county fairs with a few cars on display just for truth in advertising, or if theyÂ’ll show up to a parking lot with 26 cars, 10 of them locked, 10 of them homemade, and 6 guarded by promotional hires desperate to tap all your identifying info a tablet before dispensing dubious and superficial information. Which is to say, we didnÂ’t expect much. And that makes us chuffed to report: Electrify Expo is great. We hadnÂ’t been strolling the lot outside the old RFK Stadium for five minutes before thinking, “This feels like an old-school auto show!” The exclamation to that point came from a group of four who cut me off to reach the C40 Recharge in the Volvo booth, one of them exclaiming as if he were the group expert and as if his friends were deaf, “THATÂ’S THE LEAST EXPENSIVE ONE! AND ITÂ’S BEEEE-YOUUUUU-TI-FULLLLLL!” I wasnÂ’t there to judge, I was there for the enthusiasm. Automakers had built small, simple, open booths, parked cars in them, then provided visitors the kind of interactions that will do the most good for anyone wondering about or interested in an EV. We only saw two cars that were off limits, the new Volkswagen ID.Buzz and the Ford F-100 Eluminator. Volvo wouldnÂ’t let me get an espresso from their chic little trailer, either, unless I visited the EX90 Experience trailer first. Otherwise, it was a free-for-all. Tesla had a large booth full of cars. BMW had two i7s open for everyone to sit in, next to the Ford booth with that Eluminator and an unlocked Mustang Mach-E GT and F-150 Lightning showing their cooler-chest-frunk trick.

Volvo prices revamped 2014 lineup

Thu, 01 Aug 2013

Volvo has made quite a few changes to its US lineup for the 2014 model year. The C30 hatchback and C70 convertible are gone; the S60, S80, XC60 and XC70 have all been reschnozzed; and in a few months, Volvo will bring its V60 wagon across the pond for Stateside consumption. Only the range-topping XC90 carries on unchanged, though a brand new version is expected to launch sometime next year.
The S60 starts as low as $32,400 for the entry level T5 model, and reaches as high as $45,700 for the T6 R-Design Platinum trim. The larger S80 sedan starts at $39,900, with its range-topping T6 Platinum version commanding $48,150. XC70 pricing ranges anywhere from $34,500 for the 3.2 FWD to $45,650 for the T6 Platinum, XC60 numbers span from $34,850 to $49,800, and XC90 prices start as low as $39,700 and as high as $45,400. None of these prices include $895 for destination, and pricing for the swoopy V60 wagon has not been released just yet.
While the majority of Volvo's 2014 model year enhancements are visual, some neat updates have been made mechanically, as well. There's a new Advanced Quick Shift mode for the six-speed automatic transmission that's paired with the turbocharged six-cylinder engine, and Volvo says that the S60 R-Design will now scoot to 60 miles per hour two-tenths of a second quicker (5.3 versus 5.5). In the XC60 R-Design, AQS improves 0-60 acceleration by four-tenths of a second, down to 6.2 from 6.6 seconds.
